Chapter 242: Rita Bitten by a Zombie
Arriving at the subway station, I saw Mikhail and others trying to persuade some citizens to get off the train and head to the Clock Tower.
"No, I'm not going, we're not going anywhere. You should protect us here. It's too dangerous outside with so many zombies. We'd rather die than go out," a man in a suit shouted.
"Sir, if you go to the Clock Tower evacuation point, helicopters will take you away. It's better than waiting to die here," Mikhail advised sternly.
"I don't care. You're responsible for helping officers rescue citizens. I'm not going anywhere. Don't think I'll go out, impossible, never in this life!" the man in the suit continued to shout.
Mikhail was about to say something else when someone walked over, grabbed the man in the suit by his collar, and threw him straight out.
With a clang, he even hit a trash can, one foot dangling outside, his whole body still in the trash can.
He finally struggled out, and just as he was about to curse, a bullet struck next to him.
Eddie pointed his pistol at him, "Trash, get out of here. The subway has been commandeered. If there's a plane for you to take and you don't, then just die. There's no need to indulge people like this. Saving you is a favor, not saving you is your duty."
"Who the hell are you!" The man in the suit dared not speak his anger.
Bang! This time, Svetlana acted, kicking the man in the suit flying out. "Watch your tone."
Could this be considered being overly protective of her husband? Perhaps, women are sometimes truly strange.
"Mikhail, take the people to the Clock Tower. Those who don't want to go, let them fend for themselves. I need to use the subway; there are still many colleagues at the precinct, and I need to go back and save them," Eddie said calmly.
Wolf Mother had already taken VECTOR and the others to the front of the train, preparing to start the subway. For someone who can fly a plane, operating a subway isn't difficult.
"Then I wish you good luck!" Mikhail saluted solemnly. Anyone who dared to go back and rescue their comrades was admirable.
The subway once again sped through, arriving at Ennerdale Street, though it only took twenty minutes. The subway's speed was pushed to its limit; even when reaching a station, it didn't stop. This feeling of disregarding station rules, speeding like this, was especially exhilarating.
Returning to the precinct, the snipers on the rooftop were gone, and there were many zombies lurking in front of the precinct. It seemed to have been attacked, resulting in many survivors and agents here turning into zombies.
"Be careful, there might be other monsters," Eddie said, picking up his tactical flashlight and Magnum, and walking forward. Facing ordinary zombies, he just kicked them to death. These zombies basically posed no threat to him; they were just cannon fodder.
The precinct was eerily silent. There were three Lickers ambushing in the lobby, and several more were gnawing and feeding on the ground, seemingly enjoying their meal.
Whoosh! As soon as the door was opened, several Lickers immediately attacked, three proboscises instantly shooting out, even piercing through the thick wooden door.
Eddie dodged with a clumsy roll, simultaneously kicking off the claw of a pouncing Licker.
The next second, a fragrant breeze wafted by, and Jessica and Lisa each directly stomped a Licker to death.
Jessica, in particular, held a Magnum with one hand and shot down a Licker that was rapidly climbing and dodging on the ceiling. Its corpse fell to the ground motionless.
"Spread out and search. Emma, Moira, you go with Claire. Be careful, contact me anytime if anything happens, and tell any survivors to gather in the lobby. We'll be back in ten minutes," Eddie calmly instructed.
Ada, however, acted alone, seemingly wanting to find some documents or information to see if she could sell them. She was just a spy, and the first thing she thought of was money.
This building was where regular agents worked, while next door was the S.T.A.R.S.'s office. Unlike the usual up and down floors, it was divided into two areas, though both were mutually independent.
Gunshots occasionally rang out in the precinct, seemingly fending off some monsters, but the gunshots quickly ceased, replaced only by dying screams.
Eddie frowned. The precinct's strength wasn't robust because much of the heavy firepower was dispersed to various locations to establish defense lines. Some thugs even directly seized heavy weapons for crime after the defense lines were breached, leading to Raccoon City's rapid fall.
Passing by the second floor, gunshots rang out, along with Rita's voice, "Don't come any closer, I'm sorry!"
Then came a cry of pain and more gunshots.
Eddie walked forward and opened the room door. This was an interrogation room.
Rita, with her short golden hair and uniform, sat slumped on the ground, clutching her arm, her face pale, her beautiful eyes filled with despair.
"Eddie? Is that you? How did you get here? Am I going to die? How did you appear here?" Rita seemed to see a figure in her confusion.
In front of Rita was another woman, also an agent, but she had already been shot dead. Her skin was starting to rot, seemingly having mutated into a zombie.
"You're not dead. You were bitten? You're really lucky," Eddie chuckled.
Rita, hearing this, immediately flared up, "What do you mean? Are you saying I deserved to be bitten?"
"No, I mean you're lucky. I also brought some vaccines. Didn't I give you all vaccines before? Why did some people still mutate?" Eddie pulled out a vaccine, gave her an injection, then took out an emergency spray and applied it.
"Before this, many of the vaccines were given to our colleagues fighting on the front lines. We had very few, only a few individuals used them, and some were even reclaimed by Chief Brian. He said they were useful," Rita answered truthfully.
"It's Brian again? He's dead, killed by a monster. Never mind him, can you still walk? How many people are left in the precinct now? We need to evacuate, to the subway station, and then through the subway to the Clock Tower. There are helicopters waiting there," Eddie helped her up and walked her down to the lobby.
The rescue process only took twenty minutes. Basically, Eddie would save one person, then briefly clear out the monsters on that floor, allowing the living agents to come out.
Previously, the personnel stationed here were quite sufficient, with sixty people, but now there were fewer than fifteen left, plus over twenty ordinary residents.
Chapter 243: Eddie Preparing to Turn Hostile
It was Sergei who called, "Come to the Waste Disposal Plant. I know you're a good fighter. This time, the chairman wants you to assist us in eliminating the enemies who have come to the Waste Disposal Plant."
"Enemies? I'm afraid it's either those spies or the Federal Guard. If I go to war with them, I might as well not live. I don't have the ability to go against the Federation," Eddie sneered.
"If you don't come, you'll die soon. This is the chairman's order. Don't you want to avenge Marcus? The Federal Guard is also one of the culprits," Sergei had no choice but to find a reason to persuade him.
"Stop with that crap. I'm not going. If you don't want me to live, then you go die," Eddie rejected Sergei's suggestion.
"You're really a lot like Wesker. In that case, just wait. After I deal with those scumbags, it'll be your turn," Sergei snorted. A warrior's intuition told him that Eddie was also preparing to flee.
"You're not much better, you old geezer," Eddie snorted and hung up the phone.
Sergei's expression gradually turned sinister, "Even if Alex wants to protect you, you'll still die, Eddie! Hmph, hmph, spread the word: any helicopter without orders, no matter whose it is, shoot it down. No one is allowed to leave."
"Yes!" an assistant quickly left to relay the order.
This meant the sky was sealed. No one could leave by helicopter. To leave, they could only use the Northern Highway from the Waste Disposal Plant.
When Eddie returned to the Clock Tower with Rita and other survivors, five helicopter wrecks were scattered on the street, with burning bodies of survivors on them.
"What's going on?" Rita was very surprised.
"Someone probably didn't want us to leave and shot down the helicopters. If we want to leave, we can only go by car," Eddie analyzed, looking at the planes, thinking of Sergei's words. That bastard, he actually used such a despicable method to block the roads.
Leaving by water was unrealistic. Although Raccoon City had rivers that eventually went underground to become subterranean rivers, their location was still outside Raccoon City, but surrounded by mountains. It was a sparsely populated area, and who knew what might happen there.
The best way was to leave via the Highway, which was also the main thoroughfare into Raccoon City.
Arriving at the Clock Tower, morale here was very low. The downed helicopters had further shattered hopes of escape, and pessimism was spreading.
"Well done, Eddie." Marvin personally came out to greet them. He looked very tired.
