"I'm not that bad, am I? Simmons, that old dog, is really cunning." Eddie rolled his eyes. He was a little unaccustomed to such a gentle Ada. However, the smugness in his heart was inevitable. No matter how fierce and troublesome you are, you'll obediently sit down when you meet this monk.
"You're indeed not bad, otherwise I wouldn't have taken a liking to you. Alright, it's getting late. Get ready, we'll depart tomorrow morning. The sooner we finish, the sooner we can report back." Ada wasn't drunk; her metabolism was too fast for her to get intoxicated.
With a thud, the computer room door slammed shut. Eddie's mischievous laughter came through, "No passage this way! You offended the abbot and still want to leave? Stay here obediently!"
Chapter 308: Sheena Island Overrun by Zombies
The Foundation's matters were left to Cindy. Fortunately, the beautiful and sweet-voiced Cindy was diligent and worked without complaint; otherwise, any other woman might have quit.
Emma didn't go with them. After receiving the data January hacked from the Federation Armory, she began developing individual rocket launchers. If she could obtain linear particle cannons, she could accelerate the weapon manufacturing process.
Carrying the weapons Emma developed, the five set off. If Wolf Mother wasn't in her first three months of pregnancy, she might have gone along too.
On the deck, watching the man leave, Wolf Mother suddenly smiled, "After I give birth, I must find some monsters for a good fight."
"I might wait for you then," Jill said with a smile. Her due date would be sooner; she was the first woman nearing her due date, followed by Annette.
They took a small boat, a luxury yacht costing nearly a hundred million, well-stocked with supplies and a large, comfortable bed to meet all their needs.
Eddie piloted the yacht towards their destination. "Actually, I've been thinking, the data on Sheena Island would be more helpful for my research. If we encounter a small Tyrant, human-like but with claws, don't move. Leave it to me."
"Tyrants aren't that scary. Don't be frightened. Just find its weakness, give it a shot with this gun, and it'll die," Claire quipped. She preferred sniper rifles, enjoying the feeling of a one-shot kill!
"Yes, yes, you're all amazing, only I'm too weak. I'm under so much pressure," Eddie said playfully. He hadn't expected Claire to accompany him to Sheena Island. If Chris found out, would he acknowledge him as his younger brother-in-law?
They traveled stealthily, and three hours later, an island, its size unknown, appeared in the distance. No matter how large an island, it looked like a small patch of land from afar. Without actually setting foot on it, one couldn't know its true area.
Using special binoculars, they could see some Umbrella guards still stationed on the island.
"How to get there is a problem," Eddie frowned.
"Five nautical miles to the west, there's a small island," Ada pointed her delicate finger at the nearby islet.
"Then we change into diving gear and swim over?" Eddie joked.
Ada rolled her eyes, poking the man's forehead with her finger. "Idiot, from that direction, the Daylight is directly on those guards right now. They won't be able to see clearly."
As expected of a professional spy, she was different.
"Actually, we could switch to a speedboat. Speedboats are smaller, and at their speed, we could reach it in about an hour, enough for a round trip," Christine suggested.
As a former mercenary, she was simply not good at socializing, which didn't mean she was stupid. On the contrary, she was a genius, just with a slightly low emotional intelligence.
They arrived at the small island, secured the yacht, grabbed their gear, and switched to the speedboat to continue their journey.
About fifty minutes later, they arrived at Sheena Island, which seemed somewhat desolate. After mooring the speedboat, the five disembarked onto the island.
There were streets and restaurants here, making it look like a small, isolated city.
"This place seems quite developed, but I smell something not so good—the stench of a virus." Eddie frowned, and in the distance, he could see that the lighthouse, originally used for observation, was dark.
"The people here seem to have disappeared. Should we investigate?" Claire also acutely sensed that something was wrong.
The five proceeded towards the lighthouse. Even Ada didn't choose to act alone, instead moving with the main group, which was somewhat out of character for her.
Near the lighthouse, they could still see two wandering zombies, dressed in uniforms, seemingly local guards.
Eddie walked directly over, delivering a spinning kick that decapitated both zombies, then approached the lighthouse. It was empty inside.
The dust on the table wasn't extensive, suggesting it hadn't been cleaned for only three or four days. A notebook lay on the table, recording ships and planes coming and going from the island.
Ada found a map in the lighthouse, showing their current location as the north.
Sheena Island was ten square kilometers, not large but not small either, already meeting the standards for establishing a military base.
"There should have been indigenous people on this island. After Umbrella arrived, it's uncertain if they're still alive. Let's go. We need to cross the streets to the restaurant, then go down from the restaurant to the underground research facility," Ada pointed on the map.
"The entrance to the underground facility is in the restaurant?" Moira's expression was a bit strange.
Whoosh! With a sliding sound, Christine had already slid directly down from the thirty-meter-high lighthouse. "I just took a look. The entire island has turned into ruins, with traces of fire. But some buildings remain. Some kind of biochemical leakage event must have happened here."
"Then let's stay alert. If something feels off, just shoot. We don't need to worry about anyone else; we just need to get to the underground facility and find the data," Eddie said, holding his Magnum, and took the lead.
Passing through a small grove, they reached the outer perimeter of a wall. The main gate was blocked. Zombies roamed the streets; their clothing seemed to belong to local residents.
Eddie easily jumped over the three-meter-high wall. Claire and Moira, however, needed to push off the wall to get over, which showed the difference in their enhancements.
"Roar!" Discovering fresh living beings, the zombies began to surround them.
The zombies here seemed stronger, some even with mutated oral cavities, appearing to be incomplete Lickers due to insufficient food.
Crunch! Eddie didn't even bother to shoot, instead using close combat to push through. This wasn't a game with infinite bullets. He didn't carry many bullets; most were for his Magnum and an electromagnetic sniper rifle.
Ordinary zombies didn't require wasting bullets. There was no zombie that couldn't be dealt with by a single punch; if there was, he'd add a kick.
Chapter 309: The Cold and Elegant Director
In the underground facility of Sheena Island, Commander Vincent began transferring data. He needed to transfer the data to a memory card and take it out so that even if the research facility exploded, he could still maintain his status and lifestyle.
A beautiful, yet ice-cold, middle-aged Caucasian woman appeared on the screen. Her blonde hair was styled in a sophisticated bun at the back of her head. A valuable necklace adorned her fair neck. Her elegant demeanor combined with the aura of a powerful businesswoman made it impossible for anyone to act inappropriately in her presence.
"Director Christine, the Hypnos Tyrant data is being packaged. It will be completed in two hours," Commander Vincent respectfully said, standing before the large screen.
"Transferring data takes two hours? Are you talking nonsense or dreaming?" Christine was blunt, immediately scolding him. She knew instantly whether he was telling the truth.
"Director, it's true. It needs two hours. There are millions of genetic data points, and with the aging equipment, it indeed takes that long," Vincent didn't dare to breathe, genuinely fearing this woman.
Don't let Christine's beauty fool you; she might seem unapproachable. In fact, she was genuinely difficult to communicate with. Even those who tried to curry favor with her would be thrown into a laboratory as specimens.
In the eyes of such a powerful woman, men were merely tools. She might not even hold Spencer in high regard.
"In two hours, I will send someone to collect your data. If it's not ready by then, you can jump into the Atlantic Ocean yourself," Christine said coldly.
"I understand, Director, please rest assured." Vincent had just finished speaking and was about to look up at the alluring Christine, but the screen had already gone black.
"Pah, you stinky woman, what are you so proud of? Sooner or later, I'll have you waiting obediently for me on the bed," Vincent spat, feeling indignant when he hadn't met her in person.
The walkie-talkie crackled, and a male voice came through, "Commander, some indigenous people have escaped our quarantine zone. The scout who came to investigate earlier is provoking them. Should we pursue?"
"Chase them from behind, drive them into the streets to feed the zombies," Vincent said with a sinister laugh, his tone incredibly cruel, actually sending those indigenous people to their deaths!
On the streets of Sheena Island, all the zombies had been taken down. A few more zombies lingered in the distance but didn't approach.
Eddie and his group were blocked by an iron gate. This was the path to the restaurant, and the ones blocking it were very likely the local Umbrella guards.
According to game tropes, they would usually have to search the streets, killing guard zombies, or find a key in some room to open the iron gate.
Eddie wouldn't do that. "Looks like it's time to show my true strength again." He walked over and grabbed the iron bars, pushing them inward repeatedly.
