"Yes, he was just caught. Do you want to plead for him?" Christine waved her hand, dismissing her subordinate.
"No, I'm just curious. Remember our deal." Eddie hung up the phone after speaking. Now he was certain that the two people caught were a father and son, the male supporting characters from Veronica. Unfortunately, Eddie had no intention of saving him.
Christine frowned after seeing the call end. "How inexplicable!"
Christine, in her high heels, arrived at the laboratory. "Release the Nemesis to hunt those three guys. Also, throw out the '93 model Tyrant and see its combat effectiveness in a real fight."
Wesker, Chris, and others who had infiltrated Umbrella's France branch were relentlessly pursued by the guard forces.
Bang! Chris shot down a guy who was constantly suppressing them with a submachine gun, then took cover. "Wesker, is this the plan you talked about?"
Chris's tone was annoyed. This guy started shooting immediately upon entering, without even a chance to search. This wasn't an investigation; it was a raid!
"There's nothing we need here. This place is heavily guarded. We need to demonstrate superior combat power and then allow ourselves to be captured. We'll be sent to an island. On that island, there's a descendant of one of Umbrella's three founders. We should be able to find more core evidence there." Wesker laid out his plan. As for whether it was true, that remained to be seen.
"Their firepower is too intense; we can't hold out!" Joseph was almost scared to death.
While Wesker and Chris, like a pair of good buddies, were fighting their way through the Umbrella branch, Eddie was waiting for someone to take Anna away, to Excella's side.
Anna was still a bit dazed. "Will we meet again?"
"Of course. You need to work hard. If I go to the company, you'll see me." Eddie puffed on his cigarette, looking pleased.
"If possible, please save my son. He's innocent. I'll repay you with everything I have, please!" Anna cried helplessly.
"If there's a chance, I will. If there's no chance, then I can't save him either. No one who provokes Umbrella has ever survived. I'll try my best!" Eddie blew smoke rings, looking a bit like a rogue, with a smug expression, as if afraid others wouldn't know he had successfully had his way.
Meanwhile, Excella, in her new office building on the edge of the Mediterranean, was somewhat annoyed. Was she being treated like a junkyard? Was everyone just being dumped here?
But then, on second thought, Excella wasn't angry anymore. She had no right to be angry, and no need to be. Just as Jill had said, only incompetent women get jealous and angry.
Three hours later, Eddie arrived in the city of romance. An SUV was already waiting for him, and a woman with a single ponytail, dressed in special forces attire, was sitting on the hood. It was his spy, Caroline.
"You're half an hour late," Caroline said expressionlessly.
Seeing her expression, Eddie knew there must be someone else in the car.
Sure enough, Sienna appeared, still with her short, choppy golden hair, still so ethereal. "Hi, handsome, long time no see. Let's go, no time to explain, get in the car quickly."
The SUV drove towards an airport in the suburbs. "Where are we going now?" Eddie was a bit confused; the car had really just started up suddenly.
"Rockfort Island. We've already found out that there's an island in the South Pacific that is an Umbrella branch, Rockfort Island." Caroline didn't hide anything.
Caroline's unusual behavior made Sienna, who was driving, even more suspicious. She really wondered if her best friend had some kind of deal with this man.
"You found it so quickly? Not bad. Are you planning a surprise attack this time?" Eddie asked.
"No, there's another force also gathering intelligence. The current information is that mercenaries dispatched jointly by the Federation of Pharmaceutical Companies. Their goal should be the mysterious Veronica Virus, which aligns with our target," Sienna explained.
"Such a big commotion, you definitely can't hide it from the other side, right? Don't you plan to cooperate?" Eddie was a bit puzzled.
"I don't know about that. We haven't received any orders yet. What about you? Haven't they told you anything?" Sienna inquired in return.
Chapter 327: Battle of Rockfort Island
Rockfort Island is located somewhere in the South Pacific, relatively close to Latin America and Antarctica. It's still quite warm, belonging to a subtropical climate zone.
Sitting on the plane, Eddie was resting with his eyes closed. He had wasted a bit of time on Steve's mother. He was always more willing to do anything that could annoy Umbrella.
"Dr. Eddie, our mission this time is to cooperate with the Federation of Pharmaceutical Companies's mercenaries to raid Rockfort Island and find evidence of Umbrella's crimes," Captain Jettingham explained.
"I'm just here to observe. You're responsible for the combat, and I'm responsible for collecting what the Federation tasked me with. We'll just divide the work." Eddie didn't open his eyes. He was a bit tired. It seemed the path to enhancement hadn't reached his expected goal yet.
"Eddie, do you know anything about the Ashford Family? It's very likely we'll be fighting in Antarctica this time. The navy will dispatch a small fleet to assist us. If needed, they can provide support at any time," Jettingham asked.
"I don't know much. I only know that although Alfred can't compare to the genius Alexia, he's still much smarter than most ordinary people. I can only say, don't underestimate him. He's been managing Rockfort Island for a long time, so be careful not to fall into his traps." Eddie looked at the distant island. Only when they got closer did he realize how big the island was.
It was a huge island combined with several smaller islands nearby, covered with various machine gun turrets. And not far away, a fleet was anchored, the Federation's Navy, waiting for orders to attack.
"What a grand scene. With this fleet, you could easily overwhelm this island, right?" Eddie's tone was relaxed.
"Doctor, our mission is to find evidence of Umbrella's crimes, not to destroy it, which would help them cover up the evidence," Sienna explained.
Meanwhile, on Rockfort Island, Wesker, Chris, and Joseph were imprisoned together. Wesker had a superhuman physique with extremely strong regenerative abilities. Chris was also fine, not seriously injured.
Only Joseph was in the worst state; he had been shot twice, and the bullets hadn't been removed yet. Although the bleeding was temporarily stopped, if he didn't receive timely treatment, he might die.
Upon arriving at the prison, there weren't many people left. Wesker looked around; there were dried bloodstains. "Stop playing dead, get up. We've arrived."
Chris shook his head. "Is this the island you mentioned?"
"Rockfort Island! Finally here. I need to move first." No sooner had Wesker spoken than the island shook a few times, even causing the lights to flicker out.
Two minutes later, they came back on. A dark skinned man walked in, injured. He unlocked the prison and opened the remaining prisoner cages.
"I'm Rodrigo, the warden here. You're free. Now you can enjoy the last moments of your lives." The dark skinned security captain finished speaking and sat in a chair, seemingly genuinely preparing to die.
"Chris, I'll see you later." Wesker said, pushed open the door, and left. He knew it was time to carry out his mission: search for special biological weapon data on the island and then make Alfred reveal the location of the Antarctic Research Facility.
Chris had only taken two steps when he heard Joseph say, "Chris, you go. Go find Umbrella's evidence. I can't move, so I won't hold you back."
"Don't worry, I'll find medicine to save you. Just wait for me here." Chris said, pushed the door open, and left. He didn't know what was happening here, but he needed to get out first.
When Eddie arrived at Rockfort Island, war was already raging.
"Did you attack this island? The sky is ablaze; it really looks like a war." Eddie looked down from the plane; the entire island was lit by fire.
Jettingham shook his head. "No, we didn't receive such orders. This wasn't done by us. The Federation's actions are mutually communicated."
"The problem is you're from the Bio-Terrorism Countermeasure Commission, not the same system as the navy. Shouldn't we be landing?" Eddie had just finished speaking when he kicked open the plane's hatch, pushed Sienna and Caroline out of the plane, and then, pulling Jessica and Lisa, jumped out himself.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Jettingham was clearly still a bit unclear why Eddie was doing this.
But the next second, he heard HUNK's voice, "Run, jump!"
Jettingham also jumped down, and many special forces members on the helicopter jumped into the sea. When he looked at the island, his heart grew cold. Many Stinger missiles flew across the sky; with such dense attacks, the helicopter would definitely not escape.
Stinger missiles were essentially enhanced rocket launchers, equipped with small chips that could track targets within a certain range.
It was night, and no one knew what was in the sea below. But Eddie saw clearly, "There are sharks down there!"
He pulled out a submachine gun and fired a burst at the sharks below, the bullets hitting their fins. This made the sharks incredibly violent. Their bodies were larger than other sharks, and these sharks were T-Virus infected, mutated, extremely bloodthirsty monsters that did not decompose.
They were kept by Alfred around the island, blocked by sturdy double iron sand nets, specifically used to punish prisoners and dispose of experimental subjects.
Thud! Freefalling into the water, they seemed to hear movement, and the mutated sharks began to riot, circling towards the splashdown point.
"Don't be afraid, leave it to me." Lisa said, then in the water, she spread her arms, tentacles extended, directly piercing the sharks that tried to bite her. Then, her tentacles quickly whipped, carrying Lisa rapidly through the water, killing all the surrounding mutated sharks that attacked.
