At the same time, Eddie also received an invitation to fly to Kunka Tela City for treatment guidance.
This was Simmons' instruction, and Eddie didn't know what he was planning. Eddie originally wasn't going, but then he heard Simmons was also there, which he found a bit strange.
Taking Jessica and Lisa, he flew to the medium-sized entertainment city, Kunka Tela City, very quickly.
This city is near a swamp, where there are magical plants, and some medicinal materials can only be grown in these places. The three cities are all built around the swamp, and by crossing the swamp, one can reach the other two cities.
Simmons was at a memorial hospital in the city, currently using vaccines to treat residents. After treatment, residents would be uniformly transported away, and after half a month of observation, they would regain their freedom.
Carla and Oriana were also at the hospital. Simmons intended to use the infected, untreatable citizens in the city for experiments this time.
This was a crazy experiment; Carla's Pupa Virus had given him great inspiration. Especially during the month Ada had cut off contact with him, his longing for Ada had driven him almost to madness.
There was no evidence that Ada had appeared anywhere, as if she had vanished into thin air.
Carla and her assistant Oriana were called over to test the Pupa Virus. This virus was just starting, and hadn't undergone true optimization. Even the Veronica Virus and Progenitor Virus mutant strains hadn't undergone complete toxicity separation. Conducting experiments now was too risky.
Oriana, however, was very interested. Her ability to work at Umbrella meant she wasn't unfamiliar with human experimentation, especially a completely new virus that could allow for cosmetic surgery, which made her even more curious.
Chapter 372: Carla's Crazy Experiment
Among them, two experiment subjects mutated. One mutated due to the Veronica Virus, forming a giant monster, which overall looked like a disgusting tumor giant, losing consciousness and frantically smashing things in the observation room.
The other directly died on the spot. After being incinerated by internal flames, it formed a pupa, but the pupa quickly shattered into a pile of fragments. These fragments still writhed with consciousness, much like strange worms.
A glint flashed in Carla's beautiful eyes. "Give me the medical examination reports of those two. Their physiques must be different. Also, prepare the ultimate experimental virus."
"That virus isn't perfected yet; it's just a forced fusion. Are you sure you want to use it? It might not work, as the viruses could cannibalize each other and not be very effective," Oriana reminded her. She wasn't feeling compassion, but rather thought the experiment was a waste of time before the virus was perfected.
"Experiment first and then talk. The mutation process can tell us where improvements are needed," Carla said coldly, unmoved. The failure of the experiments had made her very irritable.
Oriana shook her head, walking in her ten-centimeter heels to retrieve the virus samples.
Not long after, Eddie arrived in Kunka Tela City by plane. It seemed very quiet here. On the main road leaving the city, rows of tanks were parked, soldiers had set up machine guns, and snipers were constantly aiming.
According to the division of streets by area, residents began to approach for inspection, mostly children and young people first, followed by middle-aged people, and then the elderly.
Although this was somewhat inhumane, the Senate's order was to save as many viable forces as possible with limited resources.
As for the elderly? If they could wait, they waited. If not, they could just die. Maybe they could even embezzle a pension and not pay it out, how delightful.
Eddie got off the plane, and the one who came to greet him was the old acquaintance, Marvin.
"Hello, Eddie, long time no see. I've already arranged a vehicle to take you to the Medical University, where they are fully developing and producing vaccines. WilPharma Corporation personnel have arrived. Please be careful, it's not peaceful here," Marvin saluted. He respected Eddie greatly.
Eddie had saved the lives of many police officers, and also Marvin's life. As a dutiful chief, he felt he had to repay Eddie, but he hadn't had the chance.
"It's fine, I've seen this kind of situation many times. Back in Raccoon City, didn't we also get through it like this?" Eddie said with a smile.
That was only a few months ago, and it was still vivid in his memory: zombies, Lickers, Tyrants—it was a nightmare of hell.
Eddie declined the driver's service. Jessica went to drive, and Lisa sat in the back with Eddie, for protection.
The road was quite clean. Vehicles were well-parked, and occasionally there was a gunshot; that was the patrol killing a mutated resident. Locking zombies in houses, this method really had some merit.
They arrived at the Medical University, which was a University Town with many universities clustered together. University students had more to talk about with each other; you never saw young people and old people hanging out together.
As soon as Eddie got out of the car, he saw Rachel leading a small team. "Hi, beautiful, we meet again. You didn't happen to know I was coming and specifically came to see me, did you? That really touches me. Want a hug?"
Rachel scoffed, "Get lost, I wouldn't go for someone like you."
In front of outsiders, Rachel always acted very impatient, even though she wore the diamond ring Eddie gave her on her left ring finger. No one knew who gave it to her unless she said so.
Sheva was a bit surprised, but due to discipline, she couldn't greet him actively, only nodding to Eddie as a greeting.
"The higher-ups want me to escort you inside. There are some pathological changes in there. Don't get bitten; no one can save you," Rachel said indifferently. With a wave of her hand, the soldiers behind her immediately dispersed.
There were still some zombies wandering near the closed gate; this place had already become a zombie paradise.
"Climb over the wall, don't damage the gate. You two, go scout ahead," Rachel commanded.
The two soldiers, one dark skinned and one white, went to the wall. One stood below, and the other charged, jumping onto his comrade's crossed hands after a running start, and was thrown up.
Working together, they quickly jumped to the four-meter-high wall. The soldier was using both hands to climb the edge of the wall, pulling himself up with effort.
Two more soldiers ran and jumped onto the wall. This time, someone was pulling them, making it easier to get up.
One soldier was on alert, but the next second, a tongue directly wrapped around his neck and pulled him down. Then came a scream and the sound of flesh being torn, along with the gnashing sound of bones being crushed, sending chills down one's spine.
"Lickers have appeared! Concentrate fire and eliminate it!" Rachel pulled out her Magnum and gave the order.
Only one person had died. The remaining two soldiers immediately jumped down from the wall, ignoring the pain in their calves, and aimed their assault rifles upwards.
After gnawing on the soldier, the Licker immediately jumped, pushed off the wall, and leaped out over the wall with all four limbs.
Assault rifle fire rang out, making the Licker twitch violently in the air. Just before dying, the Licker shot out its high-speed tongue, attempting to pierce a soldier's heart.
The soldier was opening fire and clearly couldn't dodge in time. Rachel calmly raised her Magnum and shot the Licker's projectile, blowing it up. After saving the man, she said indifferently, "Break through the main gate."
Eddie watched the entire process with amusement. It seemed Lickers were still very lethal to professional soldiers. Their swift speed made it difficult for soldiers to aim. Large-scale positional warfare wasn't suitable, but in complex terrain like this, they could be surprisingly effective!
Breaking the glass of the main gate, the zombies inside began to wander over upon hearing the commotion and were killed by the professional soldiers. Outside University Town, another batch of National Guard had arrived to garrison the area, even bringing tanks, determined not to let any monster escape from there.
As the group advanced, Rachel suddenly received a private call, which made her expression change. "You all continue forward and find the multimedia classroom at the Mechanical University. You, come with me; we need to get something." Her jade finger pointed at Eddie, clearly the latter part of the sentence was for him.
Chapter 373: Queen Rachel's Sister
The four quickly walked in another direction, towards the Medical University's dormitory building, where nursing students lived. Ahead was a bar, a place only for drinking and watching soccer matches, with no disco or dancing.
"What's the matter?" Eddie pulled out his gun and shot down a Licker perched on the ceiling. He didn't know why there were suddenly so many monsters here; logically, they shouldn't appear.
"My sister, Gina, is trapped in the Medical University's bar. She heard someone knocking on the door, and she's terrified. There must be zombies besieging her," Rachel said with a frown, her tone somewhat urgent.
"You seem very concerned about your sister?" Eddie's tone was a bit playful.
"Besides you, she's the only family I have left," Rachel said indifferently, revealing her feelings.
"Then let's go. We have to save her, after all. It would be a shame if such a beauty got into trouble," Eddie quickly led the way.
"How do you know she's a beauty?" Rachel's tone was suspicious. Could it be that Eddie had secretly investigated?
"You're so beautiful, how bad could your sister be? Though she's definitely not as beautiful as you," Eddie said with a smile. He wasn't interested in this woman who was about to appear at all.
"That's not true, my sister is also very beautiful," Rachel said, speaking up for her sister.
They encountered some zombies along the way. Fortunately, most of the students were hiding in their dorms, relying on instant noodles to get through a few days. The problem could be solved in just a few days; they just needed to wait patiently.
