Bang! Bang! Bang!
Leon, holding an assault rifle, teamed up with Kevin and Krauser to attack Havier, trying their best to buy time. The main force was rushing over; only large-caliber weapons could deal with this monster.
Hunnigan received instructions from the backend, "Leon, you need to hold off that monster and don't give him a chance to breathe. His contamination ability is very strong and will cause the surrounding forest to mutate. The main force will arrive in ten minutes. Try to stall him and divert his attention."
"Why don't you ask about your husband?" Kevin teased.
Hunnigan snorted, "My husband is safe, you don't need to worry about him."
Although Eddie was just joking, Hunnigan took it seriously and always regarded herself as Eddie's wife.
The three—Leon, Kevin, and Krauser—worked together, splitting up and using their weapons and the surrounding oil drums to distract Javier.
Alexia, meanwhile, watched the show from the rear with Manuela and Hilda, observing what was unique about this modified Veronica Virus.
Chapter 439: The New Spy, Beauty Sheila.
After a difficult ten-minute resistance, Leon and the others were not only unable to eliminate Javier but were unilaterally beaten by the giant plant monster he had become. If they hadn't run fast, they probably wouldn't have survived.
Ten armed helicopters flew in from the sky, all carrying anti-enemy missiles and large-caliber machine guns.
"Flying Fox One is in position!" a pilot shouted over the radio.
"Received, Flying Fox One, commence attack. All units, once in position, begin the attack immediately," the commander issued the order remotely via radio.
Whoosh! A missile flew in, directly hitting the behemoth's shell, cracking the carapace that bullets couldn't penetrate, and flames scorched its body.
"Roar!" Javier roared and waved his arms, but it had no effect. The armed helicopters flexibly dodged, continuously attacking with missiles. Once the carapace was breached, they began attacking with the machine guns mounted on their sides.
The metallic storm of bullets made Javier roar in fury. Finally, after five minutes of concentrated fire, he was taken down.
His body was riddled with holes, looking utterly defeated. However, in the next second, countless pitch-black tentacles spread out from the monster's internal organs. This was the prototype Uroboros Virus taking effect, rapidly resurrecting Javier once again.
Whoosh! Javier spat out a stream of blood, which turned into a fireball upon contact with the air, striking a helicopter that failed to dodge. It immediately exploded in mid-air, scattering into pieces on the ground.
Kevin, unfortunately, was scratched by the debris and instantly lost his fighting capability.
Leon wasn't doing much better, nearly getting buried alive by a collapsing wall. Fortunately, Krauser pulled him out, saving his life.
"Thanks, you've saved me for the third time now," Leon gasped.
"You're welcome. Perhaps this will be the last time we fight side by side," Krauser said lightly.
"Why?" Leon asked, puzzled. "If you have some difficulties, maybe I can help you. I know some people."
Krauser shook his head. "No. My arm is injured, and I can't exert force now. If I were infected by the virus, even if cured, it would be impossible to recover completely. The Navy SEALs are very strict; they don't accept trash, only elites."
"That's cruel. Even so, you could work in another position," Leon advised.
"I love the military life, and I don't have any other skills. Let's talk about this later; for now, we deal with the current situation." Krauser merely voiced his concerns. Although it seemed cold, that was the rule of the Navy SEALs: they only accepted elites and absolutely rejected garbage—yes, that's right, garbage like Simmons!
A lot of debris flew toward Alexia. The Queen merely smiled slightly, spreading an electric current to form a magnetic field. She twisted the magnetic field, deflecting the steel parts, and everything else was affected by the invisible field.
The modified Veronica Virus combined with the Uroboros Virus looked novel. Both were prototype viruses, and it was unknown what kind of completely new monster they might produce.
On a distant mountaintop, a figure in black was watching the battle and collecting data. A gust of wind blew off the hood, revealing the face of the person: Bruce, the former ace agent of the CIA.
Originally, Bruce could have won the beauty, but Eddie suddenly appeared and took Fong Ling home to have children. This greatly depressed Bruce. He had done all the groundwork for the Atlantic Ocean Division mission, and Eddie had stolen everything.
He wanted revenge on Eddie, and at the same time, he wanted that power, the power to become stronger. For this, he defected to a person who controlled one of Umbrella's most core research institutes.
An hour passed, and Javier, having exhausted his energy, finally collapsed. Only three helicopters remained in the sky; this was the second batch of support troops, as the previous ten aircraft had all been shot down by Javier's fireballs.
The second batch of support aircraft also lost five units, leaving only three remaining, showing how heavy the losses were.
General Morgan had already sent people to communicate with the local armed forces, planning not to destroy Javier's corpse but to retrieve it for research.
Eddie, completely satisfied, pulled Sheila back to the main battlefield and found that Javier had already been taken down. The only reason he hadn't killed Javier himself was because of Manuela and Hilda; he preferred to let others solve the problem so he could reap the perfect rewards.
Taking the benefits for himself and letting others do the dirty work—this script was perfect!
Sheila's pretty face was flushed, like a rose after the rain. She would not tell anyone anything about Eddie now; she had yielded.
Following a young, wealthy, and well-endowed man was a woman's best choice, and Sheila was very satisfied with Eddie's situation. She reluctantly agreed to Eddie's excessive conditions, with the benefits to be given during her vacation.
Eddie merely demonstrated the flame effects of the Veronica Virus and the electrical properties of the mixed virus, and Sheila immediately yielded.
This was a pragmatic woman who knew what the best course of action was. Moreover, women eventually marry, and having children is an inevitable experience. Since she would marry someone eventually, why not choose someone she found appealing?
When the rescue arrived, Parker also successfully met up with them. "Dr. Eddie, it's great that you're okay. Sheila, you don't look like you're doing very well."
Sheila waved her hand. "I'm just too tired. The fight was too long; I just need some rest."
She was indeed very tired and needed a long rest. If her physical fitness hadn't been good enough, she wouldn't have been able to walk.
Eddie also gave a meaningful, mischievous smile. "That's true. It's thanks to this beauty, otherwise I would have been in trouble."
Sheila's expression remained unchanged, showing no trace of shyness; she was very good at disguising herself. "You're welcome. If you need anything, you can request protection from us."
Parker laughed heartily. "Haha, Sheila is a famous sniper in our team; she is very formidable."
Alexia walked over in high heels, her cold, queenly aura causing the surrounding air to momentarily still. "Since the rescue has arrived, let's take this opportunity to leave."
"Since Dr. Eddie requested it, let's send them off," Sheila also suggested, concealing the existence of Manuela and Hilda.
Chapter 440: I Take the Benefits, You Do the Dirty Work.
This data was quite useful to Alexia, allowing her to cultivate better plant vines. Using vines to move stones and build houses was extremely convenient. There was no need for construction machinery like cranes; it was entirely manual and efficient.
"Don't worry, everything will get better. You might not have heard the saying,'Sweetness follows bitterness.' For life to be perfect, it can't be smooth sailing all the way; there must be setbacks.
Suffering makes us stronger. Only by understanding pain will we strive harder to live and avoid being hurt again. I will take good care of you, and you must become useful people to help me, okay?" Eddie smiled.
A trace of sadness flashed across Manuela's beautiful eyes. Looking at the serious expression on Eddie's face, she suddenly blushed. "I know, I will work hard. Thank you for helping me. Otherwise, my mother and I might have been captured. Thank you very much!"
"Thank you for saving me too," Hilda said. She spoke little and seemed unaccustomed to talking, but the sincerity in her eyes clearly showed her determination.
"It's nothing. From now on, we are family, and we are a team, needing to help each other. Your condition still requires conditioning; the treatment just now was simple. There are follow-up procedures needed, so recovery won't be fast," Eddie shook his head, looking at the distant river.
In the continuous dense forest, the winding river meandered through the rainforest. The setting sun cast a golden glow. Coupled with the tranquility after the great battle, Eddie felt refreshed and relaxed. It seemed this was a very beautiful place; going out more and seeing the world still offered wonderful scenery.
Alexia also gazed at the captivating scene. "What a beautiful world. It's a shame it will be destroyed sooner or later. The sunset is infinitely beautiful, but it is near dusk. But it doesn't matter; just look at it."
The Queen seemed to have something implied in her words, but she didn't say it all at once, apparently having some thoughts.
"Don't think too much. We will live well, and that's enough. I promise, we will all live, and live happily," Eddie said confidently.
Alexia turned her head and smiled radiantly, "Of course. With my help, you can definitely achieve that."
The battle in the Amazon Rainforest ended, leaving both the Federation and the local armed forces suffering heavy losses.
They once again witnessed the terrifying nature of bio-weapons. Moreover, this bio-weapon was not only massive in size but could also spit fireballs, which was excessive.
