Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: The Abyss Among the Ruins

(Volume 1 Finale)

The roar of the 'Divine Judgment' was the last thing Arain heard before the world turned into a vacuum of white noise.

The Solar Spear didn't just hit; it erased. But in that microsecond of impact, the 'Shadow Leap' didn't just move his body—it folded space. Arain felt his ribs crack under the sheer pressure of the teleportation, his lungs collapsing as he was spat out into a world that smelled of wet earth and ancient rot.

He hit a stone altar, his body rolling across moss-covered ruins.

Arain lay on his back, staring up at a sky he couldn't see. The canopy of the Forbidden Forest was so thick it swallowed the moonlight. He tried to breathe, but his throat was filled with the metallic tang of his own blood.

"System..." he wheezed, his fingers digging into the cold moss. "Status... of the core."

[Abyss Heart: Compromised.]

[The Solar essence of the Golden Swan is reacting with the Abyssal Core. Result: Implosion in 300 seconds.]

Arain let out a jagged, pained laugh. "Killed by... my own loot. How poetic."

He wasn't in a marsh this time. He was in the 'Graveyard of Kings', a forgotten ruin in the heart of the forest. Around him, shattered statues of weeping angels stood like silent sentinels. In the center of the ruins was a well, but it didn't hold water. It held a swirling vortex of Liquid Shadow—the concentrated sorrow of the forest.

He didn't crawl. He dragged himself, his fingernails tearing as he pulled his small, broken frame toward the well. Every inch felt like a mile.

When he reached the edge, he didn't hesitate. He tipped himself over.

The immersion wasn't cold. It was nothingness. The liquid shadow rushed into his mouth, his eyes, and the open wounds on his chest. It met the burning Solar mana in his heart and began to consume it. The pain was beyond human description—it was the feeling of being rewritten at a molecular level.

[Evolution Confirmed: Shadow Disciple -> Abyss Sovereign (Tier 1)]

[Level Up! Level 9 -> Level 10]

When Arain's hand gripped the edge of the well to pull himself out, it wasn't the hand of a trembling child anymore. It was pale, steady, and etched with faint, glowing runes of grey ash.

He stood up in the center of the ruins. The air around him began to freeze, frost forming on the statues. He looked toward the direction of the Luxmore Manor—miles away, yet he could feel his father's lingering heat.

"You called me a mistake, Father," Arain whispered, his voice vibrating with the power of the Abyss. "But you forgot one thing. Mistakes can be erased... but Nightmares are eternal."

He turned his back on his past and walked deeper into the black heart of the forest.
