I quickly make a new account, on SwipeRight and then I ran into a problem. A photo? I need a good photo! I go onto my camera roll and look for a good photo of myself. I find one, and quickly upload it onto the app. Then, I get in.
I go onto the search bar and type 'Lucifer'. My fingers hover over my phone's keyboard, realizing that I don't know his last name. Shit. I press the search button without his last name. I scroll endlessly, until I find an account.
Bio: I took the long way to get here. 32, Engineering Manager, and a total late bloomer. While everyone else was on the apps, I was finishing my degree and travelling. Yes, I'm a virgin, and I'm looking for a guy who values emotional intimacy as much as physical. Let's start with a drink, a long walk, and zero pressure to rush.
I stare at the screen, my heart pounding for no reason. It's him. The Engineering Manager title fits him a bit too much. But the "late bloomer" part? He's..... a virgin?
I take a breath and tap "Like". A second later, my phone erupts in confetti. It's a match!
My stomach flips. He's active. He's right here. Before I can overthink it, a notification banners from across the screen.
Lucifer: "That was fast. I recognize that smile from somewhere... Have we met in the 'real world' or am I just having a very lucky case of déjà vu?"
I start typing back, my fingers shaking a bit. I could play it cool, or I could just be honest. I decide on a mix of both.
"Maybe a little bit of both. But I'm pretty sure the last time I saw you, you weren't an Engineering Manager. You were just the guy who made the library look like a runway." I reply, immediatly regreting it. The typing bubbles appear. He's typing something. He typing something!
Lucifer: "The library? You've got a memory. How about we skip the twenty questions and see if I'm as interesting as a school textbook? That drink I mentioned in my bio—are you free on Thursday?"
