Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The one who commands the wolves

"You think you're the only one with secrets?" Edward said in a low tone.

Evans' eyes snapped up....scanning Edward's unreadable expression.

 "What do you mean?"

"First, let me take care of this for you," Edward replied as he stomped his leg on Evans' phone. The cracking of the screen prompted his group to burst out laughing. "Then we will move to the main business...who are you?"

Evans' knitted his brows. His phone was crushed so there was no hope of asking for help. He was surrounded by Edward's bully group and with the menacing looks on their faces, it didn't seem like they would let him off the hook.

Enduring the throbbing pain in his shoulder, he summoned the courage and met Edward's gaze. "What business?"

"You are obviously a seer...I can smell it on you, but something is not quite right, and I can put my finger on it. What are you hiding? You are not a wizard right? If you were, you would have saved yourself but...since it's obvious that you're a seer. You must have seen this current scene, why didn't you avoid it?" Edward said as he crossed his arms.

"As you said, I'm just a seer...not a wizard." Evans retorted. "What you guys are doing now is nothing but cowardly behavior.....you couldn't wait so we can face off one on one...so you decided to kidnap me?"

Edward scoffed then studied Evans like he was some kind of experiment.

"You really don't know when to back down...do you?"

 Evans said nothing.

For a moment, Edward's eyes glowed differently.

 The vision!

 His eyes skipped...it couldn't be.

Edward stepped back smiling while his group moved away from him.

A sudden gust of wind sent chills down Evans' spine and before he could react..

 Bones were cracking.

"You are not the first to go against us and I will show what people like you go through in my hands." Edward declared, his tone menacing.

 "Edward ... .not here..

"Shut the fuck up!" Edward snapped back. His tone was sharper and somewhat ... .inhuman.

Evans felt like he had that voice before but it wasn't possible.

His breath hitched as the sharp cracking sound filled the air.

Edward's posture twisted unnaturally and his fingers curled. His group was not shocked by the abnormal change but Evans was. Edward's short nails lengthened into something sharper and...darker.

 "Edward...

 He didn't listen.

A loud growl escaped his throat as he transformed slowly.

 Evans' vision flashed.

The basketball court and the wolf-like figure pouncing on him.

His heart slammed hard against his chest as his eyes widened.

 "No...no way...

 Edward lifted his head slowly.

His clothes had torn and his body was filled with animalike fur. Fangs projected from his mouth and his eyes glowed.

The same terrifying glow from his vision.

A sinister smile spread across his face as he crouched slightly.

 He was ready to attack!

Evans' body screamed for him to run but it was not possible. Was his body tied... but would he die just like this?

 That was it!

Edward lunged forward, his speed was twice faster than normal.

Evans shut his eyes, hoping for a miracle to happen but before Edward could reach him, a sudden force from nowhere hit him in the side.

 BAM!

Edward crashed into the nearby wall from the impact of the sudden hit and the walls came down collapsing on him. His group panicked and then rushed over to the collapsed walls to help their leader.

Evans opened his eyes then froze as he saw the figure standing before him.

 It was her!

 The mysterious girl.

She turned to look at him...her eyes were also glowing but it was faint. Her expression....calm, too calm for the situation at hand and she also looks bored as if she was not new to this.

"I warned you...not to mess with him." She said, her voice cutting through the tension.

Edward rose from the fallen walls, his eyes gleaming with rage. "How..dare you?"

She tilted her head slightly then placed her hands on her hips. "I told you there would be consequences if you lay your hands on him..didn't I?"

Edward charged forward, this time faster.

She didn't move but her eyes were locked on him.

At the last second, as he was about to hit his head against her, she stepped sideways and drove her left elbow into him...hard.

A sickening crack filled the air followed by a loud yelp.

The hit didn't stop him, he retaliated instantly as he swung his claws towards her but she took it and twisted it swiftly. He withdrew his claw and swung a heavy blow toward her but she blocked it. Their strength collided with a very sharp force that sent both of them away from each other.

The ground beneath them cracked while Evans could not believe his eyes.

 What is happening? ..He thought.

They continued fighting each other and their movements were too fast. Even normal eyes could not follow their movement. Before Evans knew it, the group had transformed into a bunch of werewolves and joined the fight.

 Blow after blow.

They all attacked her but her movements were controlled and precise.

In a flash, the group plus the leader were sent to the floor with a heavy force. Edward rose slightly, blood dripping from the side of his mouth.

"You have just displayed the characteristics of a rogue. That is why you all did not fit in the packs." She said then added. "Leave."

 That single word carried authority.

Edward's eyes flickered to Evans. For a brief moment, he hesitated and then let out a frustrated growl.

 "We will meet again."

He let out and then disappeared into the shadows. His group scrambled after him immediately.

 Silence fell.

Only dust and spilled blood were visible.

She turned to look at Evans, and the glow in her eyes faded.

"I warned you not to provoke him." She said as she walked toward him. "You are so lucky I came early."

Evans swallowed hard, steadying his breath as she cut the rope with her claws sharply. "What are you?"

She ignored the question as the rope fell to the floor then stepped back. "You almost died..I am surprised you can still ask questions."

Evans tried to stand but he winced. It was impossible.

Edward and his group must have hit him before he regained consciousness.

"Can you walk?" She inquired curiously.

Evans shook his head. "I don't think so."

For a moment, she just stared at him.

Then she lifted him onto her shoulder swiftly.

"Where are you taking me?" He questioned.

 "Home." She replied dryly.
