Chapter 63 - PART 64 — The One Who Comes Back

The silence inside the room had weight.

Not emptiness.

Weight.

The kind that presses against your chest and refuses to let you breathe properly.

Pixel sat still.

Her thoughts hadn't slowed down since the moment she woke up here.

Everything felt wrong.

Out of place.

Out of control.

Daniel stood a few steps away.

Not watching her constantly anymore—

but not leaving either.

It felt like he was fighting something.

Not her.

Not the situation.

Himself.

"Daniel…"

Her voice came out softer than she intended.

He didn't respond immediately.

"You can't keep me here."

A pause.

Then—

"I know."

Her brows furrowed.

That answer didn't match the situation.

"Then why am I still here?"

This time—

he turned.

Slowly.

"Because I didn't know how to face losing you."

That line didn't sound angry.

It didn't sound possessive.

It sounded…

broken.

Pixel's chest tightened.

"I didn't want this to happen either," she said quietly."I didn't plan any of this."

"I know."

His voice dropped.

"That's the worst part."

Silence settled again.

"I thought I had time," he continued.

A faint, almost bitter smile touched his lips.

"Time to fix things… before you realized you could choose someone else."

Her fingers tightened in her lap.

"I didn't choose to hurt you," she whispered.

"I know."

Again—

that answer.

And again—

it hurt more.

Before either of them could say anything else—

A sharp knock hit the door.

Both of them froze.

Another knock.

Stronger.

More urgent.

"Open the door."

Pixel's heart stopped for a second.

Stephan.

Daniel closed his eyes briefly.

Like he expected this moment—

just not this soon.

Meanwhile — How Stephan Found Her

Stephan didn't believe in coincidences.

When Pixel stopped answering—

he didn't panic.

Not immediately.

He observed.

Her phone—unreachable.

Her location—last updated hours ago.

Unusual.

But what made everything click—

was Daniel.

The way he looked earlier.

The way he spoke.

The way his control slipped.

That wasn't normal anger.

That was something deeper.

Dangerous.

Stephan didn't wait.

One call.

That's all it took.

"Track Daniel."

No hesitation.

No questions.

Because when you have power—

you don't ask if something is possible.

You decide.

Within minutes—

he had it.

Last known location.

Vehicle movement.

The exact building.

And suddenly—

everything made sense.

Stephan's jaw tightened as he drove.

Faster than he should.

Because one thought kept repeating—

If I'm right…

He didn't finish it.

He didn't want to.

Until he reached the door.

And knocked.

Back to the Room

"Open it."

Stephan's voice came again.

Calm—

but carrying authority.

Daniel looked at Pixel.

"This is where it ends," he said quietly.

Her heart tightened.

"It should've ended earlier," she replied.

A pause.

Then—

Daniel walked toward the door.

Slow steps.

Heavy ones.

His hand reached the handle—

but stopped.

For a second—

he didn't move.

Then—

he turned back.

And walked toward her instead.

Pixel's breath caught slightly.

Not out of fear—

but because of the moment.

Daniel stopped in front of her.

Close—

but not forcing anything.

His eyes searched her face.

Like he was trying to memorize something.

Something he was about to lose.

Slowly—

he lifted his hand.

Not to hold her.

Not to stop her.

Just—

to touch her head gently.

A pause.

Then—

he leaned forward—

and pressed a soft kiss on her forehead.

It wasn't possessive.

It wasn't desperate.

It was quiet.

"I don't hate you," he whispered.

Pixel's eyes stung instantly.

"I just…"

A breath.

"…don't know how to stop caring."

That line didn't demand anything.

Didn't trap her.

It let her go—

while admitting he couldn't.

He pulled back.

And this time—

he stepped away on his own.

Then—

he opened the door.

The Collision

Stephan stood there.

Sharp.

Focused.

Controlled—

but barely.

The moment his eyes found Pixel—

everything else faded.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm okay," she said quickly.

Not fully true.

But enough.

Stephan stepped inside.

His gaze moved to Daniel.

Cold.

Assessing.

"You crossed a line."

Daniel didn't argue.

Didn't defend.

"I know."

That answer shifted something.

But not enough.

"You don't get to decide things for her," Stephan said.

"I already stopped."

Silence.

Because that mattered.

Because he actually did.

Pixel looked between them.

This wasn't chaos anymore.

This was aftermath.

"You should go," Daniel said softly—to her.

No resistance.

No condition.

Just…

release.

Pixel nodded.

She walked toward the door.

Right before stepping out—

she paused.

Not turning fully.

Just enough.

"Take care of yourself, Daniel."

He didn't respond.

But his silence—

held everything.

Outside

The air felt real again.

Pixel inhaled slowly.

Like she was relearning how to breathe.

Stephan walked beside her.

Close—

but not overwhelming.

After a few seconds—

she spoke.

"How did you find me?"

He exhaled lightly.

"I tracked him."

She looked at him.

"What?"

"I knew something was wrong," he said calmly."And I didn't trust him after what I saw."

A pause.

"So I didn't wait."

Her heartbeat slowed slightly.

"You… tracked his location?"

"Yes."

No hesitation.

No guilt.

Just certainty.

Because for him—

this wasn't about control.

It was about protecting her.

Pixel looked ahead.

"And you came."

Stephan glanced at her.

"Of course I did."

Simple.

But steady.

And for the first time since everything happened—

she felt safe.

Ending Hook

Because sometimes—

one person holds on too tightly…

while another fights to set you free.

And the hardest part?

Realizing—

you can care for both…

but only choose one.
