Tara couldn't bring herself to look away from the scene in front of her. Cain was seated on a bench while Anika stood far too close to him. Cain held her shoulders, and Anika did the same to him, their faces only inches apart.
Unbeknownst to Tara, Tiana and Kalon had followed the boys too, and the moment they arrived, Kalon yelled, "What is going on here?!"
The sudden shout startled Cain and Anika apart.
"Oh hell no," Tara whispered, though everyone in the room heard her clearly. "The two are caught cheating."
Tara stared at the scene, and honestly, she felt like she couldn't breathe. More than that, breathing itself felt like punishment.
She inhaled deeply, then exhaled loudly enough for everyone to hear before looking at Cain.
"We need to talk," she said calmly.
