Chapter 11 - chapter 11: The Inter_Class Challenge Begins

The morning sun rose over Will Stone Academy, but the air felt heavier than usual. Students crowded the field, buzzing with excitement about the Inter-Class Team Challenge. Large banners hung near the stage, and teachers moved around setting up equipment.

Group One stood together near the starting line: Daniel, still wearing the box, Luna, Renée, Amani, Brian, Dimitris, and Odin.

Brian looked around nervously.

"This place looks like a battlefield."

Renée grinned. "Relax. We're winning this."

Dimitris cracked his knuckles. "As long as we stay focused."

Amani checked the challenge list posted on the board. "There are three rounds today: speed, teamwork, and strategy."

Odin studied the field silently.

Luna stood beside Daniel. She noticed his hands were slightly shaking.

"You okay?" she asked gently.

Daniel nodded once. "Yeah… just thinking."

She smiled faintly. "Don't think too much."

He gave a small nod.

But inside, he felt pressure building. Yesterday's rumors hadn't disappeared. He could still feel students whispering when he passed.

---

A loud whistle blew.

"Round One: Speed Relay!" the teacher announced.

Teams lined up quickly.

Renée stepped forward first. "I'll start."

Brian groaned. "Please don't make me fall again."

Dimitris smirked. "Just run straight."

Odin stood ready behind them.

Daniel stayed near the middle of the line.

Luna stood last.

The whistle blew again.

Renée sprinted forward like lightning, passing the baton smoothly to Dimitris.

Dimitris ran hard, feet pounding the ground, then passed it to Brian.

Brian nearly slipped but caught himself just in time.

"Not today!" he shouted.

He passed the baton to Odin.

Odin ran smoothly, focused and steady, handing it to Daniel.

For a split second, Daniel froze.

All eyes were on him.

Whispers from yesterday echoed in his mind.

Box guy…

What's he hiding…

"Go!" Luna shouted.

That one word snapped him back.

Daniel ran.

Fast.

Faster than anyone expected.

His feet hit the ground with steady rhythm, the box staying firmly in place.

He passed the baton to Luna.

She sprinted across the finish line.

Cheers erupted.

"Group One wins Round One!" the teacher announced.

Brian collapsed onto the grass dramatically. "I survived!"

Renée laughed loudly. "We crushed that!"

Dimitris nodded proudly. "Good run, Daniel."

Odin glanced at him. "You're faster than you look."

Daniel lowered his head slightly.

Inside, he felt proud—but also nervous.

---

After a short break, Round Two began.

"Round Two: Team Balance Course!"

A narrow wooden path stretched across the field, with ropes hanging overhead for support.

Amani studied the setup. "We move together. No rushing."

Renée nodded. "Stay steady."

They stepped onto the wooden path one by one.

Brian wobbled immediately.

"Why is this moving?" he complained.

"Because you are," Dimitris replied.

Luna stepped carefully beside Daniel.

"Stay close," she said quietly.

Daniel nodded.

Halfway across, a sudden gust of wind shook the ropes.

The wooden path shifted.

Brian slipped slightly.

"Oof—!"

Daniel grabbed his shoulder instantly.

"Careful," Daniel said.

Odin tightened his grip on the rope ahead.

"Stay balanced," Odin instructed.

Everyone froze, steadying themselves.

Luna nearly slipped—but Daniel placed his hand firmly against the plank to stabilize it.

"Got it," he whispered.

She looked at him.

"Thanks," she said softly.

Together, they moved forward again.

Step by step.

Slow but steady.

Finally, the entire team reached the end safely.

Cheers erupted again.

"Round Two complete!" the teacher shouted.

Group One stepped off the course, breathing heavily but smiling.

Renée pumped her fist. "Two rounds down!"

Brian wiped sweat from his forehead. "I deserve a medal just for not falling."

Amani laughed quietly. "One more round."

---

Round Three was announced.

"Final Round: Strategy Build Challenge!"

Tables filled with wooden blocks, ropes, and tools stood across the field.

Teams had to build the tallest standing tower within fifteen minutes.

Dimitris leaned forward. "This is my type of challenge."

Amani quickly took charge. "Okay—Brian and Renée gather materials. Odin tie supports. Daniel handle structure base. Luna and I check balance."

Everyone nodded.

They got to work immediately.

Daniel crouched at the base, stacking blocks carefully.

Odin tied tight knots.

Renée and Brian delivered pieces.

Dimitris adjusted angles.

Luna checked alignment.

Time ticked down.

Ten minutes.

Eight minutes.

Five minutes.

Suddenly—

CRASH.

A nearby team's tower collapsed loudly.

Students gasped.

Brian froze. "That better not be us next."

"Focus," Amani said firmly.

Daniel tightened the base supports.

His hands moved faster now.

More confident.

More steady.

"Two minutes!" the teacher shouted.

Sweat dripped down his neck under the box.

He placed the final support carefully.

"Done," he said quietly.

They stepped back.

Their tower stood tall.

Straight.

Strong.

The whistle blew.

"Time's up!"

Teachers walked around checking each team's tower.

Silence filled the field.

Then—

"Group One… highest stable tower!" the teacher announced.

The team erupted into cheers.

Brian jumped in the air. "WE DID IT!"

Renée hugged Amani. "Perfect teamwork!"

Dimitris grinned proudly.

Odin looked toward Daniel.

"You built that base," Odin said quietly.

Daniel nodded slightly.

Luna stepped closer.

"You did amazing," she said.

Daniel felt warmth spread inside his chest again.

Not fear.

Confidence.

---

But across the field, some students whispered again.

Still staring at the box.

Still curious.

Still judging.

Daniel noticed.

And this time… he didn't look away.

He stood taller.

Stronger.

More certain.

Because inside, one thought had grown clearer than ever:

Soon… the truth behind the box would no longer be hidden.
