Chapter 6 - Meeting My New Family

I stretched slowly as I stood up with a cruel grin on my face

'Time to meet my new parents and get my life back on track' I thought inwardly as I walked towards the door and opened it

Stepping into the brightly lit hallway, I noticed the cracked walls stretching on either side.

A sudden clamor reached my ears. I turned, following the voices through the corridor.

I stepped into a small dining room with a small wooden table in the middle and four chairs arranged round it

Three figures sat across from each other, smiles broad and conversation flowing easily.

"Such a lively scene, if I didn't know better, I would have thought that you guys just won the lottery" I said coldly

My voice sliced through the lively atmosphere like a sharp blade

Six pairs of eyes locked onto me, radiating nothing but pure hatred.

Turning a blind eye to their stares, I strode to the table and sat down.

"I heard from Nayeon that you've been awake for so long and you're only coming out now?!" a shrill voice called out.

Turning in the direction of the voice, I found a woman in her fifties, blue hair resting on her shoulders, her piercing blue eyes fixed on me.

I glanced at her, almost immediately turning my gaze elsewhere with casual indifference.

"What are you staring at you dirty brat....., Sung-Ho can you see your child" Sun-Hee(my mom) said as she looked at the middle aged man sitting opposite her

"Just deal with her if you want to deal with her, why must you always mention my name when you're dealing with this type of situations" Sung-Ho(my dad) said with furrowed brows

I glanced at them with indifference as I picked up the pot of food and brought it toward me.

Peering into the pot, I found Japchae, a high-end Korean delicacy.

"I didn't imagine they'd be able to afford such luxury" I thought, tilting my head.

A shriil voice cut through my thoughts

"You dirty brat, what are you doing with my pot of food, put it down right this instant.., it's not for you" Sun-Hee shouted, her gaze on the pot of food in my hand

I looked at her, annoyance clear in my gaze

She halted, caught off guard by my piercing stare.

"If I didn't know any better, I'd think I was a thief stealing your food, rather than your daughter taking what's rightfully mine" I said, my voice sharp and cutting.

"What do you mean by that"Sun-Hee asked with raised brows

"Oh nothing much, it's just that, I just recovered from an illness and not only did you guys not take care of me but you didn't even bother to buy me medicine...., and now you don't even want me to eat, please tell me am I your daughter" I said coldly as I stared in her eyes

Sun-Hee turned stiff as Sung-Ho stood up and slammed his hand on the wooden table

"Silence!" he thundered.

"What kind of nonsense are you spouting? Have you lost your mind?"

He glared, golden eyes burned into me.

I chuckled softly

"Relax, old man. High blood pressure is real….. wouldn't want you dying from it" I said, a smirk playing on my lips.

"Wouldn't it be embarrassing if they claimed you died of high blood pressure during your funeral?" I said, tilting my head, eyes locked on his.

"You… you…" Sung-Ho gasped, his face flushed, breaths coming in ragged bursts.
