Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Let the Hunt Begin

The night air cut sharply across the city as the red bike tore through empty streets. The engine roared while streetlights blurred and cars which once moved without him, now rushed past him. Mr.Nobody leaned forward slightly, his grip steady, his movements natural.

"…Strange," he muttered inside the helmet, the pink bunny visor reflecting the city lights and hiding whatever expression he might have had.

A sudden sound broke through the wind, shouting, laughter, rough and careless voices. He slowed down. Ahead, in a dim alley between two half-lit buildings, a group of men stood in a loose circle, their shadows stretching long under a flickering streetlight.

At the centre, a girl stood cornered.

"…Please just let me go," her voice trembled.

One of the men laughed.

"Why the hurry? Stay a little longer."

Another stepped closer, blocking her path. Mr.Nobody watched from the street, silent and still. For a moment, nothing happened.

Then something inside him shifted. Not hesitation this time, but something more aggressive. His bike rolled forward, slow at first, then faster. The engine growled as he turned sharply into the alley.

The sudden noise made the men turn.

"What the....?"

The bike stopped, and the engine went quiet. For a brief second, everything felt frozen.

"Hey! Who the hell are you?" one of the men shouted.

Mr.Nobody didn't answer. One of them rushed forward first, swinging wildly. Mr.Nobody moved instinctively, stepping aside and driving a kick into the man's butt. The impact was stronger than expected, sending him stumbling back.

Another came at him immediately. Mr.Nobody raised his arm, blocked the strike, and answered with a punch. It was such a hardcore punch. The man staggered, breath knocked out of him.

At that exact moment, a faint blue glow appeared in front of his eyes. It was a transparent window, floating and unreal.

[System Notification] User's Kick Level has increased: F → E. User's Punching Level has increased: F → E.

"…What?" he whispered, the words feeling strange in his mouth. "What is this… system anyway?"

The men didn't react. They didn't see it. Didn't hear it. The window flickered once.

Then vanished.

"Bastard!" another man shouted, rushing at him.

But Mr.Nobody's mind wasn't fully there anymore.

That window

It wasn't new.

He had seen it before.

Some time ago, the world had been normal or at least, it had felt that way. Another day, another moment where nothing mattered. He stood the same way as always, surrounded by people who didn't see him, didn't know him, didn't care. Then something broke. Not outside, but inside. A strange awareness crept in, like waking up from a dream but not fully. He looked around and noticed people repeating the same movements, the same words, the same timing, over and over again.

"…What is this?" he murmured.

That was when it appeared—a window, floating in front of him.

[System Notification] User has noticed repeated story events. User has gained Self-Awareness.

His thoughts froze. "…What do you mean?" he said, his voice almost breaking.

The world didn't respond, but the system did.

[System] NPC from the webcomic "Shining Blossom" has gained Self-Awareness.

"…NPC?" he repeated. The word felt wrong like something he wasn't supposed to understand.

"…A Webcomic?"

The moment stretched, then the window disappeared and just like that, everything went back to normal. People moved again, talked again, laughed again, like nothing had happened. But for him, everything had changed.

Another memory flashback. A quiet, lonely night. He was walking home as the streets grew darker, lights flickering in uneven patterns. His footsteps echoed faintly in the silence. That was when he saw them—three men, drunk, laughing loudly. On the ground lay a beggar, curled up and defenseless.

"Got anything left?" one of them kicked him.

The beggar groaned weakly. Another laughed.

"Look at this guy. Thinks he owns the street."

Mr.Nobody stopped and watched, his hands tightening slightly.

He wanted to move, wanted to step forward, wanted to say something...anything. But he didn't. His body refused. His mind held him back.

This isn't your role. You're not part of this. Stay out of it.

The thoughts weren't his, but they controlled him. He stood there, doing nothing, and that felt worse than anything for him.

Then a familiar glow appeared.

[System Notification] User has gained 2 items.

Before he could react, the world shifted. His body moved on its own. A black blazer wrapped around him, and a pink bunny helmet. It looked strange and goofy. It covered his head. A red bike appeared beneath him, the engine roaring to life. His hands gripped the handles, and before he could even think, he was moving fast, straight toward them.

"What the...?!"

The men turned too late. The bike stopped with a sharp screech, and he got off, his movements smooth, controlled, unnatural. A crowbar was already in his hand.

When did I...?

He didn't know, but his body did.

The first swing came fast. Too fast. The metal connected with a crack, and one man dropped instantly.

"YOU...!"

The second lunged, but Mr.Nobody moved without thinking.

A punch sent the man far away. The third, bigger and muscle-headed charged at him, but Mr.Nobody stepped forward without hesitation or fear. The crowbar swung again and smashed the head of that muscle-headed bastard.

Silence followed. Mr.Nobody stood there, breathing slightly heavier.

"…What was that?" he whispered.

His body had moved perfectly, like it knew exactly what to do, as it had always known.

The beggar slowly lifted his head, his eyes wide.

"…Who are you?" he asked hesitantly. Mr.Nobody looked at him, then down at himself—the helmet, the bike, the weapon—and he came up with something. A new name.

"…I am the Crimson Bunny Biker!"

At that exact moment, thunder cracked across the sky, and a bright flash lit up the alley behind him. For a second, his shadow stretched long and sharp, almost heroic, before darkness returned.

The memory faded.

Back in the present, the alley returned. The men, the girl, the tension still lingering. "…You're dead," one of them growled, rushing forward.

Mr.Nobody moved, but this time it wasn't automatic. It was his choice. He dodged, then kicked, the impact stronger than before, cleaner, faster. Another man swung wildly, but Mr.Nobody blocked and then punched him.The system window flickered again, but he ignored it. Right now, he didn't need answers. He needed action.

Within moments, it was over. The men lay on the ground, groaning, defeated. Silence filled the alley once again.

The girl stood frozen, her eyes wide.

"…You… you saved me," she said quietly.

Mr.Nobody didn't answer immediately.

He looked at his hands, then at the fallen men, then back at her.

"…Are you okay?" he asked, his voice calm, different from before.

She nodded slowly. "Yes…"

After a pause, she added, "…Thank you."

He turned away slightly, like he wasn't used to hearing that, like he didn't know what to do with it.

The bike engine started again.

"…Go home," he said. "Be careful."

And just like that, he rode off, the red bike disappearing into the night, leaving behind only the fading sound of the engine.

As he sped through the empty streets, the system window appeared once more. This time, he didn't look away.

"…What are you?" he asked quietly.

The screen flickered, but didn't answer. Only one line appeared.

[System] User has begun divergence from the main story.

Mr.Nobody stared at it, then ahead at the endless road.

"…Good," he said softly.

The bike accelerated faster into the unknown....
