Worst of all, that one kiss had triggered a series of strange images in his mind: tall red candles, a beauty as lovely as a painting, a stunning wedding dress, and a festive bridal chamber. In it, he saw Stella Lockwood, dressed as a lady from ancient times, smiling shyly at him as he pushed her down onto the bed...
This was definitely not a scene from some television show. Stella Lockwood had never filmed anything like this. More importantly, he had been completely immersed in it, as if he were the groom.
It was too bizarre.
'Why would I dream of something like that?'
He pondered for a while but couldn't make any sense of it. He left his study, intending to sound out that impostor and ask if she'd also had such strange recollections.
When he returned to the living room, the impostor was gone. Stella Lockwood had disappeared, leaving only a note with a single line: "I have a gig today, so I've gone back to Nancaster..."
