Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Attack of the Dark Creatures

The world did not wait.

It did not hesitate.

The moment Tamraj made his move—everything began.

Darkness spread across the world like wildfire, but not the kind that could be seen from miles away. This was quieter. Faster. More dangerous.

It did not strike one place at a time.

It struck everywhere.

Cities. Villages. Forests. Mountains. Seas.

No place was spared. No place was safe.

At first, it began with shadows.

Small. Subtle. Almost harmless.

Something people could ignore. Something they could dismiss as fear playing tricks on their minds.

But shadows do not remain small forever.

They grew.

And then, they moved.

In a distant coastal city, the ocean began to change.

The tides rose higher than they ever had before. Waves crashed violently against the shore, far stronger than any natural storm. Ships rocked dangerously in the harbor, ropes snapping, wood creaking as if the vessels themselves feared what was coming.

People gathered along the docks, confusion quickly turning into fear.

"…This isn't normal…" someone whispered.

The sea answered.

The water split apart.

From its depths, something rose.

A massive shape formed from water and shadow, its body shifting constantly as if it could not decide what it truly was. Its eyes glowed with a deep, unnatural red, piercing through the mist like burning embers.

And it was not alone.

Behind it, more creatures emerged.

Dozens.

Hundreds.

"Run!" someone screamed.

But it was already too late.

The attack had begun.

Far to the north, in the mountains, the earth trembled violently.

The ground cracked open beneath the feet of terrified villagers. Entire sections of land split apart, forcing people to scatter in panic.

From within those cracks, shapes began to climb out.

Creatures formed from stone and shadow, their bodies heavy and unstoppable. Each step they took shook the ground itself, their glowing eyes scanning for anything alive.

In the eastern plains, the wind howled like a living beast.

A storm formed instantly, without warning. Lightning struck the ground in chaotic bursts, tearing through fields and homes alike. The wind roared with destructive force, ripping trees from their roots.

And within the storm—

Something moved.

Shapes hidden within clouds.

Watching. Hunting. Waiting.

The world was no longer under threat.

It was under attack.

High above, in the Elemental Sanctum, the Guardians stood together.

For a moment.

Only a moment.

Varun's expression was tense as he looked out across the horizon.

"…They're everywhere."

Vayu narrowed his eyes, sensing the movement of the air itself.

"…This isn't random. It's controlled."

Agniya smirked, gripping her blade tightly.

"…Good. That just means more enemies to burn."

Prithvi shook her head, her voice firm but uneasy.

"This is different. The elements aren't responding properly."

Jyoti stepped forward, her light glowing brighter, pushing back against the darkness creeping into the sanctum.

"…We don't have a choice."

Everyone looked at her.

"…We can't stay together."

Silence followed.

Agniya frowned. "…You're joking."

"If we stay in one place," Jyoti continued, "people will die everywhere else."

Varun nodded slowly. "She's right."

Vayu crossed his arms. "…Then we cover as much ground as possible."

Prithvi looked at each of them, her expression steady.

"…Stay alive."

It was a rare moment.

No arguments. No jokes.

Because they all understood the truth.

This was war.

Nish stood slightly apart from the group.

Silent. Watching.

"…You'll be fine," Agniya said, glancing at him.

He didn't respond.

Because his thoughts were elsewhere.

"You were never whole."

The voice echoed again in his mind.

Jyoti stepped closer to him.

"…Nish."

He looked at her.

"…Don't lose yourself," she said softly.

For a brief moment, everything else faded.

"…I won't," he replied.

But even as he said it—

Something inside him shifted.

Something he did not fully understand.

The Guardians moved.

Six streaks of light shot across the sky, each heading toward a different battlefield.

And the war truly began.

Agniya arrived at the burning plains.

The land was already consumed by flames. Creatures made of fire and shadow roamed freely, spreading destruction with every step.

She landed hard, her eyes blazing with determination.

"…You think you can control fire?"

Her blade ignited instantly, flames roaring to life around it.

"Wrong."

She charged forward without hesitation.

Her attacks were relentless, each strike cutting through enemies with explosive force. Fire followed her movements like a storm, consuming everything in its path.

But something was wrong.

The flames did not respond perfectly.

They spread further than she intended.

They burned hotter than they should.

"…Tch…" she gritted her teeth. "…Get under control."

For the first time—

Agniya struggled to command her own element.

Varun reached the flooded city.

Water surged through the streets, trapping civilians inside collapsing buildings. The situation was chaos.

He raised both hands, focusing deeply.

"Calm…"

The water responded slowly, resisting him at first before gradually bending to his will. He pushed it back, creating safe paths, shielding people from danger.

But beneath the surface—

Something moved.

A creature lunged upward, grabbing his leg.

Varun reacted instantly. Water formed into sharp blades, slicing the creature apart.

But more followed.

Many more.

"…There's too many," he muttered.

Prithvi stood in the broken mountains.

Massive creatures advanced toward a nearby village, their heavy steps shaking the ground.

She stepped forward, unwavering.

"Stop."

The earth responded.

Walls rose from the ground. Barriers formed instantly, protecting the villagers behind her.

She stood like an unbreakable shield.

But then—

The ground beneath her cracked again.

"…No…"

Even the earth resisted her.

Even the earth was unstable.

Vayu moved through the storm-filled skies.

Arrows of wind formed in his hands as he struck down enemies with perfect precision. Every movement was fast, controlled, deadly.

But the storm did not listen.

Lightning struck unpredictably.

The wind shifted violently.

"…This isn't good," he muttered.

Jyoti stood in the central lands, surrounded by chaos.

Her light expanded outward, healing the wounded, protecting the weak, purifying the darkness wherever it touched.

Where she walked, hope followed.

But even her light flickered.

"…It's spreading too fast…"

And then—

There was Nish.

He landed in silence.

No destruction.

No visible chaos.

Only darkness.

"…So this is where you're hiding," he said quietly.

The shadows around him moved.

They did not attack.

They watched.

Then a voice spoke.

"…Welcome back…"

Nish froze.

"…Show yourself."

The shadows gathered.

Forming shapes.

Familiar shapes.

Too familiar.

"…You don't remember…"

"…But you will."

Far away, Tamraj observed everything.

"All pieces…" he murmured.

"…are in motion."

Across the world, the battles continued.

Each Guardian fought with everything they had.

They adapted. They resisted. They endured.

But one truth became impossible to ignore.

They were being overwhelmed.

Jyoti looked toward the distant horizon, her expression filled with concern.

"…Nish…"

In the darkness, Nish stood surrounded.

His eyes glowed faintly.

"…What am I?" he whispered.

The shadows responded.

Soft.

Certain.

Unavoidable.

"…You are…"

"…ours."
