Chapter 5 - When You Forgot Me , I Fell Again

Chapter 5: Divorce Me

The hospital corridor was unusually quiet that night.

Lina Carter walked slowly toward the elevator, her steps heavy, her mind numb. The fluorescent lights above flickered slightly, casting shadows along the empty hallway.

She didn't know how she reached outside.

She didn't remember how she got into the car.

Everything felt like a dream.

Or rather…

A nightmare.

Her fingers slowly moved toward her wrist.

The silver bracelet Adrian gave her that morning still shimmered faintly under the dim light.

Just yesterday…

He had gently placed it around her wrist.

Now…

He didn't even remember giving it to her.

Lina closed her eyes.

Tears slipped silently down her cheeks.

"Adrian…"

Her voice broke.

The driver glanced at her through the mirror but said nothing.

The rain outside grew heavier.

Just like that day.

The day everything changed.

Back in the hospital room…

Sophia sat beside Adrian, watching him quietly.

"You should rest," she said softly.

Adrian leaned back against the bed.

"I'm not tired."

Sophia studied his face carefully.

"You've been thinking."

Adrian didn't deny it.

After a moment, he spoke.

"Tell me about her."

Sophia raised an eyebrow.

"Lina?"

Adrian nodded.

"What kind of person is she?"

Sophia hesitated briefly, then sighed softly.

"She's… kind."

Adrian waited.

"And?"

Sophia forced a small smile.

"She loved you very much."

Adrian frowned slightly.

"Very much?"

Sophia nodded.

"But…"

Adrian looked at her.

"She was insecure."

Adrian remained silent.

Sophia continued gently.

"She always worried you didn't love her enough."

Adrian's brows furrowed.

"Did I?"

Sophia lowered her gaze.

"You married her… but you never looked as happy as before."

Adrian leaned back, processing her words.

Something about them felt incomplete.

But he had no memory to contradict her.

"Why did I marry her?"

Sophia shrugged slightly.

"You were lonely after we broke up."

Silence filled the room.

Adrian stared at the ceiling.

Lonely…

Was that why?

Sophia glanced at him carefully.

"Do you… still want to stay married?"

Adrian looked at her.

"I don't know."

Sophia reached out and touched his arm gently.

"You don't have to force yourself."

Her voice softened.

"If you don't love her… it's unfair to both of you."

Adrian didn't reply.

But her words lingered in his mind.

The next morning…

Lina arrived early.

She didn't sleep much.

Dark circles formed under her eyes, but she tried to look composed.

She pushed the door open quietly.

Adrian was awake.

Sophia was still there.

Her heart tightened.

"Good morning," Lina said softly.

Adrian nodded.

"Morning."

Sophia smiled faintly.

"You came early."

Lina ignored her.

"I brought breakfast."

She placed the food on the table.

Adrian watched her silently.

She moved naturally around the room.

Like she belonged there.

Like she had done this many times before.

Something stirred faintly inside him.

Lina poured coffee carefully.

"Be careful, it's hot."

She handed it to him.

Their fingers brushed briefly.

Adrian felt a strange warmth.

He pulled his hand back slightly.

"Thank you."

Lina smiled faintly.

Sophia watched quietly.

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

Then—

Adrian spoke.

"Lina."

Lina looked up instantly.

"Yes?"

Adrian hesitated.

Then he spoke calmly.

"We should talk."

Lina nodded.

"Okay."

Sophia stood up.

"I'll step outside."

But Adrian stopped her.

"You can stay."

Lina froze.

Sophia smiled faintly and sat back down.

Adrian looked at Lina.

His expression calm.

"I think… we should get a divorce."

The words hit like a thunderbolt.

Lina froze.

Her face turned pale.

"What…?"

Adrian continued calmly.

"I don't remember you."

Her hands trembled.

"And… I don't think it's fair to continue this marriage."

Lina shook her head slowly.

"No… Adrian…"

Her voice trembled.

"You just lost your memory…"

Adrian remained calm.

"But I don't feel anything."

Lina's eyes filled with tears.

"Feelings take time…"

Adrian shook his head.

"I don't want to force myself."

Lina stepped closer.

"Adrian… we've been married for three years…"

He stayed silent.

"Please… give me time…"

Her voice broke.

"Give us time…"

Sophia watched quietly.

Adrian hesitated.

Seeing her tears made his chest tighten again.

But he pushed the feeling away.

"I'm sorry."

Lina's heart shattered.

"You really… want to divorce me?"

Adrian nodded slowly.

"Yes."

Silence filled the room.

Lina felt like she couldn't breathe.

Her legs weakened slightly.

But she forced herself to stand.

"Okay…"

Her voice was barely a whisper.

Adrian looked surprised.

"I won't force you."

Her lips trembled.

"But…"

She looked at him.

"Give me one month."

Adrian frowned.

"Why?"

Lina swallowed hard.

"If after one month… you still want divorce…"

Her eyes filled with tears.

"I'll agree."

Sophia's expression changed slightly.

Adrian stayed silent.

One month…

Something inside him hesitated.

Finally, he nodded.

"One month."

Lina smiled weakly.

"Thank you…"

She turned away quickly.

Her tears fell silently.

Because she knew—

This month…

Would decide everything.

Her marriage.

Her love.

Her future.

And Adrian…

Was already slipping away.
