Chapter 3 - NO CHOICE

THE SUPREME MAGIC ONE

CHAPTER 3

I don't want to be the one they call the Supreme One.

A loud voice echoed from outside the house as footsteps rushed across the floor and doors slammed open.

"We are moving now! There's a creature nearby! Pack your things and move faster!"

"Dad!"

I ran out of my room, my hands shaking as I looked around the house. My parents were already grabbing bags and pulling things from shelves.

"Oh my—what is happening? What are we going to do? I can't just stand here!"

Another shout came from outside, louder this time.

"Hurry up! It's getting closer!"

My breathing became uneven as I turned back toward my room.

"The book…"

I rushed inside and grabbed it from the table.

It started shining.

A strong light spread across the cover, glowing brighter with every second.

"What is this?!"

I opened it.

The moment I did, something pulled through my body.

"Wait—no—what is happening to me?!"

My arms trembled as the feeling spread from my chest to my entire body.

"My clothes—what—no!"

The fabric I was wearing disappeared, replaced instantly by something else.

A black cloak wrapped around me.

A sharp gold line ran down the center.

"This… what is this?!"

The book in my hand tightened.

"I can't take this off—why won't it move?!"

My fingers tried to pull it away, but it stayed locked in place like it was part of me.

"Is this permanent?! Oh shit!"

"Son! Faster!"

"Yes, Dad! I'm just packing things!"

I looked around the room quickly.

"This cloak… this book…"

I pulled harder.

It didn't move.

"Oh—there!"

A knife lay on the table.

I grabbed it immediately.

"Drax, calm down… just cut it…"

I raised the knife.

"One… two… three—go!"

I stabbed the book.

The blade hit—

And bounced off.

"What?!"

The knife flew out of my hand.

"That's not possible!"

I looked around.

"Where's the mirror—"

I rushed toward it.

"No way…"

White hair.

My reflection stared back at me.

My face… changed.

"Oh hell no…"

"Son! What are you doing?!"

I turned around quickly.

"So—who are you?!"

"Dad! It's me! Your son—Drax Ceynan!"

"Shut up!"

My father stepped closer, his expression filled with anger.

"Where did you hide my son?!"

"It's me! Why won't you trust me?! I'm Drax!"

"Sweetheart!" my mother called out as she rushed beside him. "Who is that?!"

"He's hiding our son," my father said.

My chest tightened as I stepped forward.

"It's me! Listen—"

My father walked straight toward me, raising his fist.

He swung.

"Stop!"

His body flew backward instantly.

He slammed into the wall behind him.

"You—" my mother shouted. "Our son is gone now! You—whoever you are—you will be punished!"

They rushed to gather their things, moving quickly toward the door.

"Wait! Father! Mother!"

They didn't stop.

"Please! It's me!"

They left the house.

The door slammed shut.

"Damn it…"

My hands clenched.

"I shouldn't have touched this…"

The ground suddenly shook.

A loud crash exploded through the house.

"What—?!"

The wall broke apart.

Dust and debris filled the air as something massive landed outside.

I looked up.

A monster stood there.

Three heads.

On the right, an eagle.

In the middle, a lion.

On the left, a goat.

Its tail moved behind it like a snake.

"No way…"

The creature roared.

Its sound shook the ground.

"What am I supposed to do?!"

The book in my hand began to glow again.

Heat gathered in front of me.

A sphere of fire formed instantly.

"Massive… fireball…"

The flames grew larger, brighter, stronger.

The monster moved.

I raised my hand.

"Go!"

The fireball shot forward.

It struck the creature directly.

An explosion of flames covered its entire body.

The roar stopped.

The fire burned through everything.

The three heads twisted as the flames consumed them.

The body collapsed.

Ashes scattered across the ground.

The fire slowly faded.

The monster was gone.

I stood there, breathing heavily, staring at what remained.

"This… is real…"

The cloak stayed on my body.

The book remained in my hand.

Neither of them moved.

Neither of them disappeared.

"So this is permanent…"

My grip tightened.

The heat from earlier still lingered in my hand.

"I don't have a choice anymore…"

I stepped forward, looking at the destroyed wall, then at the empty road where my parents had gone.

"I will crush everything that comes."
