Chapter 8 - The Angel That Learned Fear

The sky trembled.

Not from power.

But from something unfamiliar.

Uncertainty.

The Transformation Complete

Lin Ye slowly stood up.

The moment he made his choice… something inside him broke.

Not his body.

Not his power.

Something deeper.

His humanity.

The last trace of hesitation in his eyes disappeared.

What replaced it… was something colder.

Something empty.

Something absolute.

The Demonic Script mark on his chest burned like a black sun, and the cracks on his body turned into solid, armor-like patterns.

His wounds stopped bleeding.

His breathing became steady.

His presence… became terrifyingly calm.

The Heavenly Envoy looked at him and spoke for the first time with a different tone:

"Your energy has stabilized."

Lin Ye tilted his head slightly.

"Of course," he said.

"I paid the price."

The Price of Becoming a Demon

Far away in the void, Mo Wudao observed quietly.

He spoke like a teacher watching his student pass a test:

"Humans hesitate."

"Humans regret."

"Humans fear loss."

"Demons do not."

He looked at Lin Ye with interest.

"The moment he gave up his future…"

"He removed his greatest weakness."

Because someone who lives for the future fears death.

But someone who has abandoned the future…

Has nothing to fear.

The Battle Changes

Lin Ye disappeared.

This time, even the Heavenly Envoy couldn't track his movement.

A moment later—

BOOM.

A punch landed directly on the envoy's chest.

The sky shattered like glass.

For the first time…

The Heavenly Envoy was pushed back.

Not just one step.

Dozens of meters.

All the angels froze.

That single moment changed everything.

Because it proved one thing:

Heaven… could be pushed back.

The First Crack in Heaven

The Heavenly Envoy looked at its chest.

There was a crack.

A small one.

But it existed.

That had never happened before.

Not in this world.

Not in any lower world.

Its voice, for the first time, carried a trace of something new:

"…Impossible."

Lin Ye slowly walked forward.

Each step crushed the ground beneath his feet.

"You said I have nothing," Lin Ye said.

"You were right."

"And that's why…"

"I can take everything from you."

Fear

In the Hall of Judgment, the angels were silent.

They were watching the battle.

And for the first time…

They did not feel superiority.

They felt something else.

"If this system spreads…" one angel said slowly,

"…then every oppressed being in the universe becomes a potential threat."

Another angel added:

"And the more we suppress them…"

"…the stronger they become."

Silence.

That was the problem.

Heaven's system worked through control.

But this new system…

Thrived on resistance.

The six-winged angel finally spoke:

"This is not rebellion."

"This is a new law."

The Envoy's Decision

Back on the battlefield, the Heavenly Envoy raised its staff again.

But this time, it did not attack.

Instead, it said:

"You are no longer the target."

Lin Ye stopped.

The envoy's gaze moved upward.

"To the one behind you," it said.

"To the creator of this system."

The sky trembled again.

The void above the裂 darkened.

Mo Wudao appeared once more, sitting on his throne.

Calm.

Silent.

Watching.

The First Recognition

The Heavenly Envoy looked directly at him.

"This system you created…" it said.

"…what do you call it?"

Mo Wudao rested his chin on his hand and answered casually:

"The Demonic Path."

The envoy continued:

"And what are you?"

Mo Wudao smiled faintly.

"The one who wrote it."

There was a pause.

Then the Heavenly Envoy said something that changed the tone of the entire war:

"Then you are no longer an anomaly."

Silence filled the battlefield.

Even Lin Ye looked up.

The envoy finished its sentence:

"You are an enemy of Heaven."

Declaration Accepted

Mo Wudao nodded slightly, as if he had been waiting for those words.

"Good," he said.

"Now we understand each other."

He stood up slowly.

Behind him, endless darkness moved like a living ocean.

"You call me your enemy."

"But from my perspective…"

"You are simply an obstacle."

The Heavenly Envoy raised its staff.

"Then you will be erased."

Mo Wudao shook his head.

"No."

"You won't."

The envoy frowned.

"Why?"

Mo Wudao's answer was calm.

"Because you're afraid."

Silence.

The angels froze.

The envoy did not move.

And that silence…

Was the answer.

Retreat

After a long moment, the Heavenly Envoy lowered its staff.

"All angels," it said.

"Retreat."

The battlefield froze.

Lin Ye laughed.

"Running already?"

The envoy ignored him.

It looked at Mo Wudao one last time.

"This is not over," it said.

Mo Wudao smiled.

"It hasn't even started."

The sky slowly closed.

The golden light disappeared.

The angels were gone.

The Aftermath

The battlefield was quiet.

The war… had ended.

But something far more important had begun.

Lin Ye stood alone in the ruins of the kingdom.

He looked up at the sky and said:

"Ancestor… what now?"

Mo Wudao's voice echoed in his mind:

"Now?"

"Now you grow."

"Become stronger."

"Because next time…"

"They won't run."

Lin Ye smiled.

"Good," he said.

"I don't want them to."

In the Void

Mo Wudao sat back on his throne.

The Great Demonic Script floated beside him, its pages turning faster now.

More names.

More worlds.

More demons.

"Fear," he said quietly.

"That is the beginning."

He looked into the endless universe.

"Heaven has ruled for too long."

"They forgot something very simple."

His eyes glowed faintly in the darkness.

"Even gods…"

"Can bleed."
