The palace buzzed with preparations for the trial. Ava woke to Kai's voice, his eyes sparkling. "Today's the day. Ready to conquer?"
Ava groaned, half-asleep. "What's the trial?"
Kai grinned, pulling her up. "Apparently, we have to host a royal gala... on the beach. Theme: 'A Night Under the Stars'."
Ava blinked. "Sounds fancy. What's the catch?"
"The council's testing us," Kai said, serious. "Prove we can handle royal duties... and each other."
Ava's stomach flipped. "Sounds like fun."
The day flew by in a whirlwind of decorations, taste-tests, and dress fittings. Dusk approached, the beach transformed into a fairy tale. Lanterns floated on the waves, stars twinkling above.
As guests arrived, Ava's nerves spiked. Royals, dignitaries... and her parents, beaming in the crowd.
The councilors announced the trial's start. Kai took Ava's hand, his eyes locked on hers. "We do this together."
Ava smiled, her heart steady. "Always."
The night unfolded – music, dance, laughter. Ava charmed the guests, Kai by her side. But tension simmered beneath: the council watched, evaluating every move.
Midnight approached, the sea lapping at the shore. The lead councilor stepped forward. "Prince Kai, Ava Reyes... the trial's outcome..."
A drumroll.
"...the people approve. The throne is yours, Prince Kai. And Ava... you are now Princess of the Sea."
Cheers erupted, waves crashing in sync. Kai pulled Ava into a kiss, fireworks lighting the sky.
