Jay POV
I entered Section E.
The moment I stepped inside, the entire class froze.
For a second, it felt like time had stopped… like they had just seen a ghost.
I smiled.
Slowly, I walked to my seat and sat between David and Ci-N.
Every single pair of eyes in Section E was on me.
Jay: "Why are you all looking at me like you've seen a ghost?"
Well… they're not wrong.
I am a ghost to them.
Did they really think I'd waste a whole week just to see if they felt guilty or not?
Ci-N: "We… we thought you wouldn't come today."
I turned to him, raising an eyebrow.
Jay: "Why? Did you do something?"
He froze.
Ci-N: "No, Jay… I— I wanted to say—"
Jay: "What, Ci-N?"
Before he could finish, the classroom door opened.
Sir Alvin walked in.
A small smirk played on my lips.
Looks like even the universe wants to see if they're guilty or not.
Sir Alvin: "Let's start the class."
The class went on like normal.
But nothing felt normal.
Not the silence.Not the glances.Not the tension sitting beside me.
Finally, break time came.
I stood up and walked out without a word, heading toward the main building.
I spotted the girls waiting.
Without saying much, we all went to the CR.
As we entered, I noticed David and Ci-N following us—but they stopped outside.
Inside, the air felt different… softer.
Then Mica spoke.
Mica: "I broke up with Calix… after everything you did to help our relationship. I still can't believe he did that."
Before I could respond, Grace spoke, gently holding her stomach.
Grace: "After you saved me… and helped Denzel come back to me… and now his child…"
Her voice softened as she looked down at her baby bump.
I stepped closer.
Jay: "Hey… don't break up with him because of me. All the effort I put into bringing you together will go to waste. Please, Mica… and Grace… don't do this. You're pregnant. That child deserves their father."
Silence filled the room.
Then Rakki spoke, anger clear in her voice.
Rakki: "I'm going to deal with Ci-N. He said he saw his 'Ate' in you. That you were like family. And this is what we find out? That's not acceptable."
I shook my head immediately.
Jay: "Rakki, don't go after him. He loves you. Please… for me."
She looked at me for a moment… then sighed.
Rakki: "Fine. Only for you."
Jay: "Thank you."
I turned to Freya with a small smile.
Jay: "Freya… you should find someone too. And I know someone who really likes you."
She raised an eyebrow.
Freya: "Oh? Who? And which section is he in?"
Jay: "My section. Section E."
She leaned forward slightly.
Freya: "Who is he?"
I smiled.
Jay: "Edrix. Please… give him a chance. He really loves you."
She stared at me like I had lost my mind.
Freya: "Are you serious? No—"
I gave her my best puppy eyes.
She groaned.
Freya: "Ugh… fine. I'll try. But only because it's you."
I smiled softly.
Then Ella spoke, her voice gentle.
Ella: "How are you still this kind… to people who hurt you?"
My smile faded.
I looked down.
Jay: "It's okay… I've gone through worse. This is nothing."
She stepped closer.
Ella: "Not anymore. Not when we're with you, okay?"
I nodded silently.
We started walking toward the exit.
That's when we heard voices.
David and Ci-N.
We froze.
Instinctively, we stayed hidden and listened.
David: "We have to tell her about the bet."
My heart stopped.
Ci-N: "She'll never forgive us."
David: "Yeah… but we still have to tell her."
I glanced at the girls.
They looked at me, waiting.
I quietly signaled them to go out.
They nodded and stepped outside.
I stayed hidden… listening.
Grace: "What bet are you talking about?"
Ci-N: "Nothing… Where's Jay?"
Rakki: (angry) "Ci-N, what bet?"
Ci-N: "It's just… a bet about whether she would give in or not…"
Rakki: "Say it clearly."
A pause.
Then—
Ci-N: "They bet… whether she would sleep with Keifer or not."
Silence.
Then anger exploded.
Ella: "You guys are shameless."
Freya: "You bet on her dignity?!"
Rakki: "Ci-N, go back to Section E. She's not coming with you."
Footsteps.
They left.
The girls came back inside.
But I didn't move.
I stood there.
Frozen.
The words echoed in my head.
The friends I trusted…
They were betting on my dignity… my self-respect…
I felt… empty.
Not angry.
Not sad.
Just… hollow.
Jay: "I'm going back to class."
My voice didn't even sound like mine.
As I turned to leave, Grace suddenly spoke.
Grace: "Wait, Jay… I forgot to tell you something."
I stopped.
Grace: "I'm having a daughter."
For a second…
Everything froze again.
Then suddenly—
The girls burst into excitement.
Smiles. Laughter. Joy.
I turned back slowly.
A soft smile finally reached my lips.
Jay: "Did you tell Denzel?"
Grace: "No… I wanted to tell you first."
My chest tightened.
Not from pain this time…
But something warm.
Jay: "Don't worry about telling him. I'll tell Denzel."
Then I stepped forward and hugged her tightly.
And for a moment…
Just a moment…
Everything felt okay.
