"What about the other families?"
"What if?" He asked.
I can't read his face so I ask. "What if what?" His eyes went to my face.
"Well, what if the killer's close by? Just close to us."
"No way." He said.
Anna's scared, "That's impossible." Both of us turn to her with fright written on our faces.
She smiles saying, "Sorry, I didn't mean to but are you guys done? It's okay, I'm not seeing any here."
"So? What now?"
"I think it's better if we sleep in the same room from now on. I don't think they'll complain?"
Wait, who's he talking about? "Wait who?"
"Dad and mom."
Okay, he's okay. "Anna let's go to sleep shall we?"
"Yeah I'm exhausted."
From what? "We played hide and seek all day. Later we played tennis."
I just forgot, I'm the only one standing in the kitchen and I can feel the wind coming. Time to run! Cam and Anna walk slowly up the stairs and I run into them. Bump into them.
"Guys the wind came back, why? Anna why?" Anna turned to see who's standing behind me.
"Well that's the older woman, the rest aren't here. Just calm down." Anna replied.
"I just can't calm down Anna, I feel like I'm next after dad." Cam said.
"No, she just wants to see who stood for so long." Anna is giving me the creeps!
Cam hugged me and kissed me on my head, Anna said, "She loves what you're doing. Both of you showing love."
I need my eyes shut now!
"It's okay, she's gone again."
"For good right?"
"Maybe."
We need to get to that bed fast! "Let's just go to bed now. Quickly." Anna said. She continued after a brief pause. "You know, last week I saw a writing on the wall, it said leave while you can on it."
Both Cam and Renee stop dead in their tracks staring at Anna. "Well that's what it said, I'm not lying. Then suddenly it disappeared by itself."
I'm just tired of this, "Alright, Anna, time to sleep. I mean now, time to sleep right now."
I walk ahead of him, I'm too scared for this but I hope the feeling leaves me before morning.
Anna followed us behind. First my room, "Wait you guys I need my laptop and bag."
They walk in with me, how loving. "So yesterday I saw blood come out of the tap instead of water. It was thick and had clots in it."
Cam stared with shock. "Wait for a minute. Blood, like actual blood. You know this is worse than I thought."
I just ignore their conversation and pack out. He picks up my bag, the heavy one. Back to his room. We all sat on his bed for a while. "Well wanna hear more?" Is she for real?
Both of us yell back, "No?!" The wind blows again.
I turned to it this time, the shadow just got back. Why?!
Cam sat in front of me, he blocked the breeze but it's getting too much like it wants to rain. He shut the window, and everything stopped. Anna sat close to us and we all stayed on the bed. The chills!
"Who's that?" Cam asked.
"No one cares, just ignore as I said from the very beginning. Ignore." I said.
Anna said, "Just a restless soul, it seeks justice but I feel the killer sleeps with us in our house, Morgan said it never happened like this before."
"Tell me more about this Morgan kid." Cam's interested.
She explained, "Well he's been here for four years now, he told me about the story. Also the families in detail."
"And the main farmer?"
"Well he's part of a cult. They take blood every year, that's why the killing hasn't stopped ever since he turned fifteen."
During the whole story I fall asleep, they continue without me and I don't care. Who's this I'm seeing in my dream, a lady. So young and pretty, she's staring at me smiling. She waved to me and seriously I waved back. Soon enough her smile fades, and she points to something behind me.
Keep in mind I'm outside, I try to turn to look at it but before I do. My eyes open up. I'm guessing that's the woman Anna saw. The girlfriend of the farmer. I see Cam and Anna eating snacks, they're still talking. I turn to the right, I see nothing. Suddenly someone knocks on the door. The door frightens everyone until mom opens it. My heart calms down again, "What's this little party about?" She's smiling.
I shut my eyes before I hear her second set of words, I'm done with sentences for the night. I see her again, this time she's sitting by the stairs. Soon enough a young boy her age joins her too. He's cute but still looks manly. He gives her a kiss on the cheek, she smiled at him. Then I see a couple, a way older couple. They look like her parents, they hug the young boy tightly.
They all walk into the house. My eyes open up again. I still see Cam awake, and Anna fast asleep. He's watching a movie, how long did it take me to sleep and wake up? Unknown, but my phone says it's just sixteen minutes after twelve. After midnight.
Cam can feel someone staring at him, he turned to look at me and smiled. I turn to Anna and I see blood-filled eyes.
I shiver to the side. Cam held me, I woke up again. This time for real. I see them talking again. Mom already went out of the room. I took a breath of relief, the second one got to me. Cam turned to me, Anna stopped laughing too. They both stare at me and I'm guessing it's another dream. I throw my pillow at Anna.
She yelled back, "Renee?! Why'd you do that?"
"Sorry I thought it was a dream." She stared at me confused. Of course she couldn't get it.
"You need to stay awake a little. At least until you forget what you've heard of." Cam said.
