Chapter 6 - The Frostbite Curse

Act I: The Price of Absolute ZeroThe episode opens in the middle of a massive snowstorm, but the storm isn't coming from the sky. It is erupting entirely from fifteen-year-old Hiria's bedroom. Inside, the walls, ceiling, and floor are covered in thick, jagged sheets of black ice.Hiria sits on the edge of his bed, gasping for breath. His right arm is completely bare, and it is a terrifying sight: the skin from his fingertips up to his shoulder has turned a translucent, frosted blue. Dark, frozen veins crackle across his skin like spiderwebs. He tries to flex his fingers, but they move with a stiff, brittle crunch.Hiria (Internal Monologue): Every spell has a cost. In my past life, the cost of trying to be a hero was a truck tire to the ribs. In this life, using absolute-zero magic as a teenager is slowly turning my own body into a freezer. The human nervous system wasn't meant to channel sub-zero temperatures. I'm literally freezing my own cells from the inside out. But I can't stop. Not now.The door clicks open. Mina steps in, carrying a tray of steaming hot tea and thick insulation bandages. She doesn't gasp or panic. She calmly walks through the sub-zero room and sits next to him.Mina: Gently taking his frozen hand, wrapping it in the heated bandages. It is spreading faster, Lord Hiria. If you keep using the Black Arcana at this rate, your heart will freeze before your twentieth birthday.Hiria: Voice raspy, staring at the floor. Let it. My brothers are famous now. The whole kingdom is talking about the Silverlight party. Famous people attract monsters, Mina. If I have to turn to ice to keep them warm, I'll do it.Act II: The Royal TrapCut to the grand palace of the capital city. The Silverlight brothers stand in the royal throne room, surrounded by decadent gold pillars and rows of silent, heavily armed royal guards. At the center sits High Chancellor Malakor, a sleek, smiling man with cold, calculating eyes.Malakor: Clapping his hands slowly, his voice dripping with false praise. Ah, the famous Silverlight brothers! The heroes of the Sylvan Valley! The kingdom owes you a great debt. A dark cult known as the ** Obsidian Eye** has infiltrated the lower catacombs beneath the capital. We require your unique... talents... to purge them.Yurto: Stepping forward, his eyes narrowing as he studies the layout of the guards. His tactical training with Mina instantly flags an anomaly. Chancellor, with all due respect, the royal guard looks heavily reinforced for a simple cult cleanup. And your map of the catacombs has no escape routes marked.Zora: Leaning against a marble pillar, his trench coat open as he winks at a passing high-born lady. Relax, Yurto. A dark cult? Sounds like a Tuesday. Besides, the ladies love a man who handles dangerous occultists. Though, Chancellor, do these cultists have any pretty high priestesses? Asking for research purposes.Asher: Smacking Zora's shoulder with his glowing white wing. Silence, heathen! We are in the presence of the crown. We shall purge this Obsidian Eye in the name of the light.Hiria: Standing at the very back, leaning heavily against his staff, keeping his frozen right arm hidden beneath his dark cloak. Internal Monologue: Yurto is right. This isn't a mission. The Chancellor's heartbeat is skipping. The guards are gripping their spears too tightly. This is an ambush. Malakor doesn't want us to kill a cult. He is the cult, and he wants the Silverlight family dead before we become too powerful to control.Act III: Into the AbyssDeep within the damp, suffocating catacombs beneath the city, the brothers march in tight formation. Suddenly, the heavy iron grates slam shut behind them. The torches line the walls flicker and turn a sickly, pulsing purple. From the shadows, dozens of cultists dressed in obsidian robes emerge, their faces hidden behind bone masks. At the center stands Chancellor Malakor, his smile now twisted and monstrous as a dark, demonic aura wraps around him.Malakor: Laughing maniacally, his eyes glowing purple. Foolish boys! You thought the crown feared the monsters? The crown employs the monsters! The Silverlight family has grown too influential. Today, your legacy ends in the dark!Yurto: Instantly drawing his sword, his voice echoing with absolute authority. Defensive grid! Asher, sky-shield! Zora, heavy suppression! Hiria, hold the rear line!Zora: Sprinting forward as his entire torso and arms split open with a sickening crunch. TIME TO FEED THE MEAT GRINDER! [Marrow Cannons: Unleashed]!Zora fires a devastating barrage of bone shrapnel, tearing through the front line of cultists. Asher flies upward, his shiny holy blade deflecting waves of dark hexes thrown by the cultist mages. But the sheer number of enemies is overwhelming. Malakor channels a massive, forbidden tier-7 spell—a roaring vortex of demonic purple fire that aims directly at Yurto, who has no magic to defend himself.Yurto: Grit-teeth, raising his shortsword. Damn it... I can't parry fire!Act IV: The Frozen SacrificeHiria: Sprinting forward, ripping his dark cloak away. YURTO! FALL BACK!Hiria slams his frozen right arm directly into the stone floor. The pain is immediate and blinding—he screams as the blue frost violently claws its way up his neck, tracing lines across his cheek.Hiria: [Cocytus Gate: Absolute Aegis]!!A colossal, five-layer wall of thick, jet-black ice erupts from the ground, blocking Malakor's demonic fire storm. The purple flames crash against the ice, creating a massive explosion of boiling steam. The wall holds, saving Yurto, but Hiria collapses to his knees, coughing up dark, frosted blood.Yurto: Sprinting to his side, catching him before he hits the stone. Hiria! Your arm... it's completely solid! Stop using your magic!Hiria: Gasping for air, his left hand gripping Yurto's collar. Shut up and listen to me... Yurto. I failed to save that kid in the cave ten years ago... I won't fail my family. Malakor's spell has a ten-second recharge time. Use Zora's catapult. Smash the ceiling pillars. Bury him.Yurto: Eyes widening as he realizes the tactical genius of the plan. Understood. Zora! Asher! Target the structural pillars on my mark! With flawless coordination, Zora launches Yurto into the air. Asher uses his shiny holy blade to sever the main support columns, and Yurto uses his precise agility to drop a cluster of alchemical bombs directly onto Malakor's head.BOOM! The entire cavern ceiling collapses, burying Chancellor Malakor and his cultists under tons of solid rock.Act V: The Gathering StormBack at the Silverlight manor, the mood is heavy and solemn. Hiria lies in a medical bed, his right arm completely wrapped in specialized, glowing medical bandages designed by Mina and Eleanor to slow down the frostbite curse.Eleanor sits by his side, crying softly as she strokes his hair. Arthur stands by the window, his usual cheerful bravado replaced by a dark, deadly serious expression.Arthur: Gravely. The royal family has betrayed us. The Chancellor may be dead, but the Obsidian Eye runs deeper than we thought. We can no longer trust the kingdom.Yurto: Standing at the foot of Hiria's bed, his fists clenched. Then we don't fight for the kingdom anymore. We fight for each other.Hiria (Internal Monologue): Looking out the window as a cold rain begins to fall. The comedy is officially dead. The royal family wants us gone, my body is literally dying every time I fight, and a war is coming. But looking at my brothers standing together... let them come. I'll freeze the entire world before I let them touch this family.[Screen fades to black.]
