The room finally went quiet but it was the kind of silence that followed a slight chaos
Scarlett didn't move as the babies were in her arms tightly against her chest
She didn't trust anyone to hold them as her eyes stayed fixed on them, watching every breath, every fragile movement, as if it could disappear if she blinked
"They're sleeping already", Madam Tracy said softly
Scarlett didn't respond
She swallowed hard and moved slightly with her back pressing against the headboard. The pain in her abdomen hit again but she endured it
Then Jude moved closer to her
"They're okay", he said as he looked down at the sleeping babies in her arms
Scarlett didn't answer as her eyes dropped back to the babies, as if he wasn't talking to her at all
Jude just stayed still and watched her
"Scarlett, you need to rest"
"No, I don't", she said quickly
Jude exhaled slowly as he looked at her
"Scarlett ..."
