The room was quiet when Kevin entered. The nurse had been kept there for days. Her hair looked unkempt, and she looked haggard.
No one had questioned her since she was brought in. No investigators had sat across from her, demanding answers. She had simply been left alone in the room and not allowed to step out.
A small meal was brought to her once a day, and the door remained locked for the rest of the time.
At first, she had been terrified. She had thought about taking her own life, but her painless poison had already been collected. Then she had become restless. She was scared that if she harmed herself, she would be saved and would suffer the pain for nothing.
Now, she was simply waiting.
The sound of the door opening made her lift her head. Her meal was brought in once a day, and she had already eaten, so she was curious about who was coming in.
She froze when she saw Kevin walk in. For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Kevin closed the door behind him and looked at her.
