Kevin arrived at the law firm and was surprised to see a familiar face waiting for him in the conference room.
Lionel Hutz, the same yellow-skinned lawyer in the slightly rumpled blue suit and red necktie who had handled the restaurant renovation contract, stood up with his usual salesman-like grin.
"Well, well! Mr. Harlan! Back so soon?" Hutz said, shaking his hand enthusiastically. "Looks like I'm your go-to guy for big purchases in Toontownsville. Let's get this house deal finalized."
The paperwork was straightforward. Kevin reviewed the contract carefully, signed on the dotted lines, and shook hands with both Gaylord Robinson and Lionel Hutz.
"Congratulations on your new home," Hutz said cheerfully. "If you need anything else, permits, business expansions, even a prenup someday you know who to call!"
Kevin smiled, thanked them both, and left the firm feeling lighter. He now officially owned a house.
He decided to head back to the Krusty Krab first to check on things. When he stepped inside, the restaurant was lively, tables were mostly full, the smell of grilled patties and fresh fries filled the air, and the team was moving efficiently.
Kevin went straight to his office and sat down at the computer. The house was completely empty when he toured it, so he needed to buy quite a few things to make it feel like a home.
He ordered new appliances for the kitchen, refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, a comfortable bed and bedroom set, living room furniture, sofa, coffee table, TV, and essential bathroom items like shower curtain, towels, toiletries.
He also added basic cleaning supplies and some kitchenware. Most of the deliveries were scheduled to arrive at the house by 2 PM.
He still had some time before then, so he stepped out of the office to check on the restaurant.
He found Eileen wiping down a table and asked, "How's the workload treating you? Everything okay so far?"
Eileen adjusted her glasses and smiled shyly. "It's good, boss! A little busy, but I'm managing. Margaret has been really helpful showing me the ropes."
Kevin nodded. "Great. Keep up the good work."
He then found Squidward at the counter and reminded him, "There might be some packages delivered today. If I'm not back in time, just have them put everything in my office. Also, make sure to close on time tonight, you all have the keys. I might not make it back before closing."
Squidward gave a lazy salute. "Got it, boss."
Kevin then walked next door to the Ink & Paint Club to look for Holli. He didn't see her anywhere, so he asked Betty Boop, who was nearby arranging some glasses.
"Hey Betty, have you seen Holli?"
Betty shook her head with a bright smile. "She went to the mall to buy some new clothes. Said she'll be back later."
Kevin nodded. "If you see her, can you tell her I bought a house? Give her this address." He wrote down the address on a small piece of paper and handed it to Betty.
"Will do!" Betty replied cheerfully.
Kevin went up to the room he had been sharing with Holli, grabbed a few of his personal things, then headed back to his new car, the sleek black 1968 Dodge Charger.
He started the engine, smiled at the deep roar, and drove off toward his new house.
When he arrived, he immediately started cleaning. The place was quite dusty from being empty, so he spent the next couple of hours sweeping, wiping surfaces, and airing out the rooms.
At around 3 PM, the delivery trucks arrived. The delivery guys were kind enough to help him carry everything inside and even place the bigger items where he wanted them.
After they left, Kevin busied himself arranging the house. Most of what he bought was for the kitchen like new appliances and cookware, the master bedroom's bed, dresser, nightstands, the living room's sofa, TV, coffee table, and essential bathroom items. He figured he could buy the rest later once he had more time.
Hours passed. By the time he finished setting everything up, it was already late in the evening. Kevin was dead tired. He collapsed onto the new sofa in the living room, planning to rest for just a few minutes…
He didn't notice the pink four-seater car that quietly parked outside the house.
Inside the car sat Holli, looking at the new address Betty had given her with a soft, curious smile.
