Jin was extremely excited for the next day, when the clasess will finally begin.
However, he didn't want to repeat the same mistake he did on the first day of the opening ceremony.
Staying up late might affect him again… it might allow that thing to take control once more and drag him into serious trouble.
Jin sighed in frustration, turned off the lights, and lay down in bed, trying to sleep.
Hours passed… but once again, Jin couldn't fall asleep.
The next morning, he looked at the ceiling as the sun light across the room, with red eyes and overwhelming exhaustion.
"I hate myself…" Jin cursed himself, then went to wash up and prepare for his first real day of classes.
Jin and the rest of the Class "B" students only will have three lectures today which are History, then Chaos Theories, and finally a basic combat lesson.
The History Hall was wide and crowded with students. At the front of the room stood a massive oak platform, which the teacher will stand at its center.
And from behind hung a large map of the continents on a massive blackboard.
The map was detailed, showing the borders, oceans, and rivers of the continent of Marta and the neighboring continents.
The hall itself was designed in stages, with seats rising gradually to accommodate as many students as possible. The rows were arranged in a way that allowed everyone a clear view of the platform and the map.
The lighting in the hall was good, with large windows on both sides letting in natural light. The ceiling was made of calm, polished wood, giving the place a quiet atmosphere.
Jin climbed the steps, trying to find a seat somewhere near the front.
However, the students kept looking at him with hostility.
Even when he found an empty seat, a student quickly placed his books on it to stop Jin from sitting there.
Jin never understood why the students seemed to hate him that much.
Although he was introverted by nature, he never wanted to be hated for no reason.
"Why is everyone avoiding me?" Jin muttered, scratching his head as he continued climbing the steps.
Eventually, he reached the last row, where several seats were empty, and he quietly sat down.
Jin also noticed Henry climbing up the steps. He tried to wave at him, but Henry ignored him as well and sat down as if he didn't seen him at all...
Jin let out a deep sigh when Henry ignored him. In the end, he decided to ignore him as well.
A few minutes later, a tall teacher walked into the hall.
He had black hair and dark circles under his eyes, looking thin and almost fragile.
The teacher took out a strange magical device that amplified his voice throughout the hall, which caught Jin's attention.
He began speaking while coughing repeatedly. "Good morning, students."
He coughed again before continuing, "I am Mr. Itchiki, and I will be your history teacher this semester."
"Ah… our first lesson today will be about the continent of Marta and—"
He coughed again, so violently that he looked like he was about to collapse.
The students listened with boredom, whispering among themselves,
"Couldn't they find a better teacher than this?"
" Fuck how we are supposed to understand anything if he keeps caughing like that "
Jin somewhat agreed with what they were saying. He could barely understand the teacher himself because of the constant coughing.
The teacher continued, "All of you will be tested at the end of each month on the lessons, and—"
He coughed violently before going on. "Ah, excuse me. Yes, I will test you at the end of every month. The higher your scores, the more rewards you will receive through a system called points."
"Your points will be collected and calculated along with the points from your other lectures, which will also reward you based on your effort."
"There are also other ways to earn points, including personal achievements based on specific criteria chosen by your instructors."
"You will be re-evaluated and reclassified after three months, and since we—" Cough, cough.
He coughed again before adding, "Before that, let me tell you your current temporary ranking."
The teacher then took out a device and pointed it toward the board behind him. A list of student rankings appeared.
Everyone immediately looked for their names.
At the very top was the name "Jin Yoshta"
Of course, no one really knew Jin personally from his name, they only recognized his face from the ceremony so most students didn't pay special attention to it.
Except for Henry, who suddenly looked shocked and slowly turned around to glance toward Jin in the back row.
The teacher continued, " After 3 months , the top three students in the rankings will have the opportunity to be promoted to a higher category in your case, category A."
Mr. Itchiki then took a book out of his coat.
"The academy will provide your textbooks," then he said,
"So make sure to visit the main hall in two days to collect them."
After that, he officially began the lesson. He started explaining about Marta and its history.
Originally, there were 9 major continents on the planet. However, due to massive geographical changes in the past, they split into 32 continents. The exact cause of this transformation remains unknown to this day.
4000 years ago, Marta was part of another continent called Delandstia. The reason behind Delandstia's geographical shift is also unknown.
However, a massive vertical rift appeared, splitting the continent into two.
The first half became Marta, and the second was called Cynthia.
Marta was slightly larger than Cynthia and possessed greater and more natural resources.
At the same time, with the appearance of Chaos, Cynthia eventually became classified as a Dead Continent.
Dead Continents are those that have been completely taken down by Chaos, where level Seven gates and above have appeared, which was too powerful and dangerous for the Global Awakened Government to handle.
Out of the 32 continents, 11 became Dead Continents.
In some cases, the populations were fully evacuated before disaster struck. In others… everyone was killed before they could escape.
Originally, it was believed that the reason Chaos creatures appeared was because of a man named Darko, the son of an ancient saint known as Mira.
It was said that Mira once lived on a continent located in the far south of the planet named Brath.
Since Darko's birth, the world has never known peace.
Chaos spread across the lands, blood was shed, and countless lives were lost.
The teacher briefly spoke about Darko's history something Jin had already heard from his grandfather and Elena before.
Then the teacher added, "Despite the appearance of Chaos creatures, the gods did not abandon us."
"We were granted Awakening powers to protect ourselves and to stand against these vile beings."
After that, the teacher began talking about Marta's history following the Age of the Chaos. He spoke of many wars and mentioned numerous names some of which caught Jin's attention immediately.
The teacher specifically mentioned five brave warriors from a warrior tribe once known as the Horakin.
The warriors Jaster, Theresa, Sasha, Iskander, and Marvind were the most prominent figures of that tribe.
These five were famous for their strength and ferocity among the Awakened throughout Marta's history. They had slain tens of thousands of Chaos creatures.
They were the first to defeat one of the Demonic Giants, and they inherited vast knowledge about Chaos, leaving behind legendary weapons for future generations.
The lecture was both engaging and full of valuable information.
Despite the teacher's constant coughing, which made it difficult at times to understand him, his teaching style was surprisingly unique and impressive something Jin and the others didn't expect.
At the end of the lecture, Mr. Itchiki dismissed the students.
They seemed somewhat satisfied with their first class before heading to the next lecture, which specialized in Chaos Studies.
The hall was similar to the History Hall, but it contained numerous models and carved statues shaped like various Chaos creatures.
The teacher in charge of the Chaos class was named Catherine.
And what a crazy woman she was.
She said, "Good morning, students. My name is Catherine, and today you will learn a little about the beautiful Chaos creatures"
The way Catherine looked at the statues of Chaos creatures in front of her was obsessive, passionate and even disturbingly sexual, which made all the students disgussed.
Everyone stared at her and whispered among themselves,
"I think something is wrong with her."
" What the fuck is wrong with her! "
"She's definitely a crazy bitch…"
Catherine was disgustingly obsessed with Chaos Creatures. Her first lecture was about goblins.
She explained their body structure and appearance, Goblins were short, with pale or sometimes grayish skin.
Their fingers and feet were very short, though each goblin differed slightly from the others. In rare cases, some appeared a bit taller.
Their heads were dome-shaped, and their necks were short.
Goblins had no hair or fur, they were completely bald and generally ugly to look at.
Catherine went into excessive and unnecessary details that no one has interest in it, such as the anatomy and shape of their genitalia or their sexual orientation.
She then moved on to their weaknesses. Goblins were considered among the easiest Chaos creatures for an Awakened to kill.
Their main weak point was their abdomen. Even minor damage there whether from a weapon or a magical ability could easily kill them.
Because of their small size, goblins were relatively fast. They often hid behind trees or rocks to ambush their prey.
Catherine continued explaining more and more about goblins and the gates which they emerges from.
Some of the information was useful, while the rest was disturbing and unnecessary.
And just like that, the Chaos Studies lecture ended —one that the students did not enjoy at all.
Finally, the last lecture of the day began it was about martial arts.
The teahcer was a calm and cool man named John. He briefly talked about martial arts and self-defense.
The lecture wasn't very long. The teahcer mainly focused on encouraging the students to improve their physical fitness first, promising that they would learn more advanced martial arts techniques in future classes.
For today's assignment, the students had to run 2 kilometers and then do 40 push-ups.
It was a bit challenging, but Jin was used to it since he had trained a lot with his grandfather.
With that, all the lectures for the day came to an end, and everyone started heading back to their rooms...
