They kept talking, planning, and researching until the sun was already dipping lower behind the trees. Hours passed without them noticing. Eventually, Alex stretched and stood up.

"Come on," he said, smiling. "I have something to show you."

Skye raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Where are we going?"

"You'll see," Alex said with a small grin.

They got into the car, and he drove toward the outskirts of Brooklyn. The buildings became older and more industrial as they moved farther away from the busy streets. Finally, he stopped in front of a large abandoned warehouse with faded paint and broken windows. The place looked empty and forgotten.

Skye stepped out of the car and looked around. "Uh… are you gonna tell me why we're here? Because this looks like the start of a horror movie."

Alex chuckled. "Relax. I bought this place yesterday."

Her eyes widened. "You bought a whole warehouse?"

"Yeah," he nodded. "It was cheap and nobody wanted it. I figured I could turn it into something useful. Maybe a private workspace, a gym, or somewhere to plan things without getting disturbed."

Skye walked a little closer to the building, still taking everything in.

"This is huge…" she said quietly. "You really think big now, huh?"

Alex smirked. "Why not? If life changes, might as well change with it."

She laughed and nudged his shoulder. "Just please don't tell me the next thing on your bucket list is having sex in an abandoned warehouse."

Alex burst out laughing. "What? No! Definitely not."

They both laughed for almost a full minute before calming down.

Skye crossed her arms and looked up at him with a soft smile. "You've really changed, Alex. A few months ago, you were just trying to survive… and now you're investing, moving, planning… buying buildings. It's kind of amazing."

Alex looked at her for a moment, then spoke quietly. "Almost dying changes people. It made me realize I need to stop wasting time. I want to build something real."

Skye stepped closer and placed a hand on his chest. "I'm glad you're still here."

Alex gently covered her hand with his own. "Me too."

The wind blew softly across the empty lot, and everything felt strangely peaceful.

"So," Skye said, smiling again, "what's the next step for today?"

Alex grinned. "Well, I was thinking we clean up inside a little. Turn on the lights, check the space, make some plans."

She nodded. "Yeah. Let's do it."

They walked toward the entrance of the warehouse. The big metal door creaked loudly when Alex pulled it open, dust drifting into the air. The inside was dark, but enough sunlight came through the broken windows to see the outlines of old crates and rusted metal shelves.

Skye coughed lightly. "Wow. This place hasn't been touched in years."

"Yeah," Alex agreed. "But it's solid. The structure is still good. Just needs cleaning and fixing."

They found the main power switch near the wall, but when Alex tried it, nothing happened. Skye laughed.

"Looks like step one is getting electricity working."

"Guess so," Alex said with a smirk.

They walked deeper inside, looking around and talking about what they could build there—an office area, a workspace, maybe a hidden room for privacy. Skye suggested a tech lab area for computers, and Alex liked the idea.

After about half an hour, they were dusty and tired, but smiling.

"You know," Skye said, wiping sweat from her forehead, "I can't believe I'm helping you clean a warehouse. This is such a weird date."

Alex chuckled. "Hey, weird is memorable."

She grinned. "True."

They stepped back outside to breathe some fresh air. The sun was already low on the horizon, painting the sky orange.

"What now?" Skye asked, leaning back against the car.

Alex thought for a moment. "Let's go buy some tools and cleaning supplies. We can start working properly tomorrow."

Skye nodded. "Sounds like a plan."

They got into the car again and started driving back toward the city. The radio played softly, and both of them were quiet for a while, just enjoying the comfortable silence.

Skye slowly turned her head and looked at him. "You know… I'm really glad you let me be part of all this."

Alex glanced at her and smiled. "I couldn't think of anyone better."

She blushed slightly and looked out the window, but Alex could see the smile she was trying to hide.

The car rolled to a stop in front of Alex's apartment building. The sky was darker now, the streetlights flickering on one by one.

They walked upstairs quietly, still smiling from earlier. When they entered the apartment, Skye set her bag down and looked around.

"You know," she said softly, "that warehouse… it feels like more than just a building."

Alex nodded. "Yeah. It's going to be our base. A place where we can build something big. Something secret. A place where anything is possible."

Skye smiled, eyes bright. "A sci-fi playground."

He laughed gently. "Exactly."

For a moment, neither of them spoke. The room felt warm and calm. Skye stepped closer, and Alex reached out, brushing a bit of dust from her cheek. Their heads tilted toward each other, slow and natural.

"I'm glad I met you," Skye whispered.

"Me too," Alex answered.

They kissed—soft at first, then deeper, full of everything they didn't say out loud. The world outside faded away. They held each other tightly, moving slowly toward the bedroom, still laughing quietly as they stumbled through the doorway.

The next morning, sunlight poured through the curtains. Skye lay with her head on Alex's shoulder, both of them relaxed and smiling.

"New day," Alex said softly.

"And a lot to build," Skye replied.

He stood beside the bed and began putting on his shirt. Skye watched him curiously.

"Okay, my beautiful," Alex said with a small smile. "I'll leave the warehouse plans to you for today. I'm going somewhere else—something I have to do."

Skye sat up a little straighter, curiosity in her eyes. "Where are you going?"
