Chapter 5 - bidding farewell to Azura

A ray of light settled gently on a beautifully made up face as maids scurries around to do their best to deck up the bride.

Sophia has always dreamt of this day, when she'll have a simple, yet beautiful wedding. But life played a great trick on her by putting her in this situation. She never expected that a once beautiful wedding she has always pictured with Liam as her groom will end up like this. Her groom is not only changing, but she has to get married to one of those creatures who caused her mother's death. Life can be funny at times.... Sighs

"Your highness, you're all decked up" jane's voice rang out cheerfully. "Our princess is so stunning that the groom will not be able to take his eyes off her" , she rambled on.

Sophia looked at her reflection in the mirror, it seemed jane was right after all. Her face looked stunningly gorgeous. Her bun which was packed to the back fitted perfectly with her round face, giving a air of elegance her golden hairpin glowed gently, matching with her earrings and necklace. And to top it all, she's wearing a light makeup, making her look completely ethereal to belong to this world. After complementing her looks, she said softly to jane 'jane, how about you take a look at the situation downstairs?'. 'Alright my lady, I will'.

After jane went out, sophia stood up and slowly walked to the window, wanting to enjoy the scenery for the last time.

She couldn't believe that she has to leave like this. But she has no choice, because it is her duty as a princess to keep her kingdom safe. And by doing that, she has to pay this price.

She doesn't know if Liam will attend, because since the last time they met, she hasn't set her eyes on him, even though he'll be coming to the court for meetings. Maybe he realized what she told him the last time and decided to move on, but still, he'll always have a place in her heart. Although she's not supposed to harbor any feelings for any other man because she'll be getting married soon, but Liam's case was different. The marriage arranged for her was what destroyed their love.

'My lady, his majesty requested that I should bring you downstairs' jane called out.

'Okay jane, let's head there'. Sophia walked to jane, and led the way. She has already decided to go on with the wedding, If it'll bring peace between the two kingdoms, there's no turning back now.

As sophia moved, her dress and jewelry felt so heavy which made it quite difficult for her to walk properly. Although, as a princess, she's expected to be used to things like this, but sophia was different. She's not the type that fancies heavy dresses and jewelry. Instead, she'll wear a light silk dress with simple jewelry. She only wear things like this occasionally when there are banquets.

Getting to the entrance of the hall, sophia found her father there who seemed to be waiting for her. As she got closer, the first thing he said was 'will it take you forever just to dress up?', he said it with a sarcastic remark with disdain evident in his tone. 'I'm sorry I was a bit late' sophia said softly 'hmph keep your sorry to yourself'. He paused, then continued 'make sure you please prince Erik, he's said to be ruthless in his ways and if you mess anything up, you know what I can do to you'. 'Sophia held back her emotions which were about to skyrocket, but she could only manage to say 'okay'. They only see her as a piece of tool for politics. But why!! Didn't he claim to be her father? A father is supposed to love his child, but what kind of a father was he?.

King Jovan didn't look at sophia's face, but started walking into the hall with great pace, without bothering if she followed behind him.
