Chapter 10 - [10] Slavery is legal

It took almost an hour to locate and kill all the bandits. His nose, which had strangely grown very sensitive, helped a lot in the process. He could detect and follow their scents from a kilometre away.

Orsted predicted it to be due to Dragon slayer magic. In the plot of Fairy tail, all dragon slayers possessed enhanced smelling ability.

While destroying the bandit's hideout - Orsted had come across a variety of demihumans, with only dozens of humans present.

Among them, he found two lizard men, who at the moment, bowed their heads before Orsted. Bruises and blemishes covered their body, their rough appearance fitting their identity as a bandit very much now.

Their loyalty was apparent from their eyes. It was almost overflowing thanks to the [Dragon god] title.

"Where do you store the goods?" Orsted inquired coldly, the sole reason they were alive was due to it.

"They are stored in the caves on that mountain." The green lizard man pointed at the second closest mountain near them.

"Alright." Just as Orsted began drawing his sword to finish them off, the lizard man spoke again.

"We were planning on transferring the slaves to our other base near Kyo (first city) today. Where we would have sold them off at a high price." The lizard man's eyes were facing down, but his voice carried his intentions perfectly.

"....." Orsted gazed at him silently.

The lizard man's intention to help him make money was apparent. But more than was - his will to live. He was aware of Orsted's intention of killing them after the question.

'Even if they become loyal, they don't want to die, huh? They aren't showing any intentions of resisting if I do cut their heads off though. Still, Slaves...' Orsted contemplated with a frown.

The bounty didn't have any particular request for them. Hence, Orsted was free to do as he pleased with them.

Selling them was an option, but it held many risks of his connection being discovered with it later.

The merchants of Kararagi were not to be looked down upon. Just from the timing, the slaves identity and the source - they could definitely trace it back to Orsted.

'Once I make a name for myself, that would affect my image. Or would I gain more dragon points while being known as a slaver...?'

Seeing Orsted lost in his thoughts, the lizardman had visible cold sweats on their back.

"....Slaves aren't illegal in Kararagi, I suppose?" Orsted questioned calmly.

".... That's right, it's only prohibited in Banan, lord dragon god."

"Go and bring me all the loot you possess here besides the slaves. You should have dragon carriages, you can sell the slaves yourself and bring the money to me in Banan later." Orsted ordered immediately after making up his mind.

Letting free profit slip out of his hands was never an option to Orsted. He possessed no goodwill towards unknown people, judging them solely through benefits.

His rough voice brought immense relief into the eyes of two lizard men.

"We understand!"

It took a while for the lizard man to carry the goods to Orsted. The loot ranged from huge storage of alcohol to even gold coins. In total, it was predicted to be worth 40 gold coins if everything was sold.

Being cautious, Orsted had refrained from going near the loot storage - where the slaves were sold. If the slaves saw him, he would definitely leave an impression of himself on them.

Even if slavery was safe, having connections with bandits wasn't very ideal.

'No matter which world, society will still be complicated.'

In Orsted's case, he had to be extra careful of his reputation - his key to earning more dragon points.

After placing the goods in his inventory, Orsted departed immediately. He decided against taking a ground dragon and treated travelling as a type of training.

By the time Orsted reached Banan's fortress, it was already turning evening - the sun glowing in a gentle orange hue.

"Don't come any closer!" The guard screamed out with a stiff expression. His eyes trembled while he stared at Orsted.

Being treated so roughly made slight irritation rise within Orsted, but he held it in with a small frown.

His reputation wasn't high enough yet - he thought, while passing his identity proof as a bounty hunter to the guard.

"This...." Though still immensely reluctant, the guard had no choice but to open the gate to Orsted following the rules. He had no reason to stop the other party.

Just after walking a few steps into the city - Orsted heard a familiar roar.

"GRAAHH!!"

A ground dragon which belonged to the common flanna species sped towards Orsted.

[Rock bullet] - a roughly bullet shaped rock formed before Orsted's hand, around the size of a human first.

Pouring a good amount of mana into it, Orsted launched it directly at the head of the ground dragon.

Bang!

Seeing the ground dragon fall with a single hit, Orsted didn't wait and walked away immediately.

As for how the ground dragon grew disobedient to everyone after this day?

It didn't have anything to do with him.

Jumping through the rooftops, Orsted arrived at the employment agency.

Seeing the dust thinly covering Orsted's white clothes, a light flashed past Crane's eyes.

"So how well did the hunt go, Mister Orsted?" Crane asked politely.

"Good enough." Orsted answered with his rough voice and handed over Didorii's burnt body to Crane.

"Ewww!... Ahem, I mean, the bounty head has been collected. The money from the client should be ready by tomorrow. Please drop by any time you want then."

Being able to make a body appear out of thin air was magical, but Crane didn't seem that surprised.

"Do you rent houses?" Orsted asked.

Crane tilted his chubby lizard face and answered immediately: "Ah, I know a man who owns a tenement house, you might have heard of him. The admirer, Halibel, a famous shinobi throughout the world...."

"The other options."

"Um? Ah, well I know a client who rents his well furnished house..."

"That will do." Orsted's reply was instantaneous.

"Err, Ok."

Halibel - of course, Orsted knew him very well. His strength was worthy enough for him to stand at the top 10 or 15 strongest beings of Re:Zero.

'What if my curse brushes him the wrong way and he decides to assassinate me in my sleep?'

Though very unlikely with Halibel's personality - Orsted was a little paranoid about this world.

Thinking about Subaru's death experience, where he was killed out of nowhere for some reason that seemed profound in good words - it suddenly didn't feel that far-fetched.

Orsted could wait to meet Halibel officially after modifying his [Dragon tribe's curse] in the future.

'Now, it's time for me to grind up a name here.'
