It was when the hospital ward suddenly became too silent and they both looked at him like he was crazy that Wang Junhao finally realized what he had just said. His eyes widened slightly before he gently closed them in embarrassment. Without saying another word, he slowly lay back on the bed and pulled the blanket over his entire body, covering himself completely as he screamed silently in his mind.
Yuqi and Yuze quietly walked out of the ward afterwards.
"Oh, I need to cleanse my ears," Yuze said, rubbing his ears dramatically.
"That guy must be a pervert. Maybe he was just pretending," Yuqi said with a frown.
"Pretending?!" Yuze scoffed. "I don't know him like that, but damn, I can tell how much pain he's in. I'm a guy too, remember."
Yuqi rolled her eyes at him.
"All this is those bodyguards fault. I wonder why they didn't allow us in earlier," she muttered, but immediately brushed it off. What was really on her mind now was how to properly apologize to Wang Junhao.
A few minutes later, Yuqi and Yuze took the opportunity to check on Mianmian. Thankfully, Mo Yichen was not there.
Mianmian was glad to see her friends again.
"Earlier, the craziest thing happened," Yuqi said proudly from the sofa where she and Yuze were seated. "Some huge security guards dragged us out and refused to let us in. It took my heel to get us back inside."
Even though she was lying, she didn't want Mianmian to get worried about what really happened, especially not the part where she injured the doctor of the hospital.
"I trust you'd definitely do that," Mianmian said.
Yuze just glared at Yuqi and shook his head in disappointment, as usual.
"Huh… you guys…" Mianmian said, suddenly curious about something. She hesitated for a moment before continuing, "I hope you didn't tell Wen Yuhan that I'm in the hospital."
"We didn't," Yuze replied calmly, and Yuqi nodded to confirm.
Mianmian hated making her brother worry. Ever since their mother became sick, he had been the type to panic easily, always overthinking and carrying everything on his shoulders. Yuqi and Yuze knew this very well, so they didn't bother telling him anything about what had happened.
"What about Mr. Yao…" Mianmian finally gathered the courage to ask.
The room immediately fell silent.
Yuqi and Yuze glanced at each other, guilt clearly written on their faces.
They had all been avoiding that topic.
Yuqi cleared her throat and slowly walked toward Mianmian. She sat on the bed beside her and gently took her hand, squeezing it softly, her expression filled with guilt and pain.
