In the Mo residence, an old woman dressed in traditional Chinese clothing stood in the garden. Behind her were a few servants in black-and-white uniforms, while the butler stood slightly ahead of them, neatly dressed in his formal attire.
The old woman bent down and carefully plucked strawberries from the ground, placing them gently into the basket beside her.
"Madam Mo, please, you shouldn't be doing this," Butler Lu said in a serious but concerned tone. "It's unhygienic and stressful. We can handle it for you."
The female servants behind him nodded in agreement, their faces filled with concern.
"Aiya! Aiya! Aiya!" the old woman waved her hand dismissively, not even turning back.
Butler Lu squeezed his face in frustration. He was already tired of her stubbornness. If her grandson, Young Master Mo Yichen, saw her like this, plucking strawberries with her bare hands, he would definitely be in trouble.
After a few minutes, she finished and slowly stood up. One of the maids quickly ran forward and picked up the basket.
As the old woman walked into the mansion, Butler Lu hurried to her side.
"Butler Lu, it's been a long time since I've seen Mo Yichen. He doesn't even bother to visit his grandmother anymore…" Her voice softened with sadness.
"You can always invite him for dinner," Butler Lu suggested gently. "Maybe tonight."
"Good idea," she said immediately. "Text him to come for dinner tonight, and tell him it's very important."
Butler Lu paused for a moment before speaking again.
"What about inviting Miss Hu Yuelin as well? It would be perfect since they are to be engaged soon. And besides… seeing them together always makes you happy."
"That's perfect. Invite her too," Madam Mo said, her face lighting up at the thought of seeing her future daughter-in-law.
Beside her, Butler Lu smiled slightly, almost mischievously, thinking about what he had just set in motion.
*********
In the evening, Yuqi and Yuze finally left. They didn't want to, but Mianmian had thrown a tantrum, insisting she would cry if they didn't go. She wanted them to rest properly and didn't want to burden anyone with her condition.
Now alone in her ward, she lay on the bed, scrolling through her phone.
Suddenly, her phone rang.
The caller ID read:
Wen Yuhan.
Mianmian gasped and immediately threw the phone onto the bed.
She wasn't expecting his call.
What if he had already found out everything?
The phone kept vibrating against the bed. After a few seconds, she picked it up again and slowly answered, placing it against her ear.
"Why weren't you home this morning?"
That was the first thing Wen Yuhan asked.
Mianmian instantly sighed in relief and rolled her eyes.
"I was at Yuqi's place. So you didn't sleep at home last night?!" she shot back immediately.
"Yeah, of course. I told you I was moving out, remember?" Yuhan replied in a mocking tone.
"And I started yesterday. Sorry I didn't inform you," he continued casually. "Even though you weren't home either, and couldn't even bother to call your brother. You don't even care about your only brother."
"You useless brat!" Mianmian snapped. "Just because I said you should move out doesn't give you the freedom to do nonsense like drinking alcohol, taking drugs, or having sex!"
"Who are you talking to?"
A deep voice suddenly sounded from behind her.
Mianmian froze.
Then she squealed and quickly turned her head.
