In the twenty-fifth centurty humanity had become an integral part to galactic civilization. Trading, education, agriculture, logistics, humanity was the only race brave, or dumb, enough to explore regions previously deemed inaccessible. When the first starship entered what was called , The Dark Veil, no one fro any of the other species expected to see it again. Inside The Dark Veil, or TDV, they activated something only heard of in video games. It referred to itself only as The System. Every Human, every Vintraxian, every Dracanian, every species in the known galaxy was awashed in the same brilliant light. They had awakened and with it new strange powers emerged. Each individual had been given a unique innate ability. Cultivation statistics appeared on a mentally self-contained Heads Up Display. After some investigating, only those who had reached the age of sisxteen, by the standards of their on species, had awakened.
A little over a century later, Jack was in one of his high school classrooms. He had turned sixteen a month ago, yet as he watched all of his peers awaken, he had yet to do so. Not because he couldn't like everyone believed, but because his awakening came with a requirement.

"Why are the first two optional, but the other two required? Actually how does that even make sense?" Jack was perturbed trying to understand the logic of the system. It was only because of the rewards that he didn't just abandon his awakening. Though, his resolve to decide to become fully awakened was formed when he witness one of his peers abuse his newly awakened state to force the younger students to do his bidding.
"That's it. People like him don't deserve to be awakened." Jack thought to himself as he walked home after school. As soon as he returned home he set into motion the completion of all of his objectives.
Yhat weekend, The System had granted Jack his awakening. It took Jack less than a week to make two breakthroughs. That means that Jack could make eight breakthroughs a month at most. For others it normally took at least one month per one breakthrough, and that's with twenty-four seven uninterrupted cultivating. When Jack broke through his limits a second time, his fanily, his teachers, eveb his peers were both amazed and teriffied. Jack decided to intervene in the actions of the kid who was abusing his awakened powers, someone had to because no one else would.
"TANNER!!" Jack yelled as he approached a mass of stundents gathered around a single teenager, servimg him.
"Look who it is, the unawakened sixteen ye..." Tanner wasn't able to finish his speaking when out of nowhere he had been bound and gagged, a sex based ability that Jack had also made into a practical ability. Jack had also received the abilities Cultivation Drain and Awakening Seal. The former allowed him to drain all of the accumulated cultivation of any one whos awakened state was equal to, or less than his. The latter allowed him to basicly cripple awakened people by sealing their awakened state permanently. He used both on Tanner before dismissing the bindings and gag.
"You don't deserve your power." Jack proclaimed as Tanner began to glow first in an eerie red light, then again in a sickly green light.
Tanner's eyes widened as he watched his cultivation that he worked so hard for vanish. However, what made his face pale was when he watched his HUD begin to vanish.
