Lavenia's POV
"Let me go," I said as Rayden led me back to my room.
He said nothing, but his piercing gaze—which sometimes seemed gentle—felt terrifying and intimidating at that moment.
He stroked my hair, pulled the blanket up to my chest, then gave a faint smile—so faint it was almost invisible.
"How can you guarantee you won't lose control when you're not with me?" he asked.
"I can't make any promises. But freedom is a right." I met his gaze firmly. "Besides, if it's true that you're my mates, doesn't that mean I'm not allowed to choose either of you?"
"But I'm jealous," he retorted.
"I don't like being restrained," I replied.
"But you might be carrying my pup."
I fell silent for a moment because his words contained half a truth and half a doubt. There was no fault in his statement except that I was indeed uncomfortable with his dominant and authoritative attitude.
