I had just opened my eyesāwoken by the repeated ringing of my phone and a single beepāand immediately checked the window as I read Hero's text message.
He was already waiting by his Range Rover, and without wasting any timeāI just grabbed and put on my robeāI hurried over to him.
"What are you doing here?" I asked. "It's the weekend, Prof."
"I know. But I hope you haven't forgotten that you have an assignment from Professor Caston," he replied. "Get in. I'll accompany you to interview Jax."
"B-but... I don't wanna meet him today. I want to relax."
"We'll relax after the assignment is done. Professor Caston doesn't like people who put off her assignments."
Hero got out of the car and led me inside; I hadn't even had time to change.
"You're doing just fine," he said.
Fine, he said?
With my bare face and disheveled clothesāa satin pajama top and shorts paired with a sleeping robeāI looked like a fool, and he said I was fine?
