The black SUV moved swiftly along the main road through Hinch. It was a relatively busy morning, but thanks to the pair of uniformed officers riding motorcycles ahead of the car, everyone on the road knew to back off and give way.
"It's a shame. I really wish I could say goodbye to Emma properly and thank her," said Lady Aveline.
"It can't be helped, Your Grace," said Claire Lune, the Queen's trusted assistant. "You have important matters to attend to."
Lady Aveline stared at the world beyond the tinted glass. "Don't forget to send them our thanks."
"Of course, Your Grace." Claire pointed toward the driver. "Robert will deliver your letter directly to Mrs. Emma Leroy after he drops us at the palace."
"Robert, be sure to give the letter once you confirm that Lydia and Elara have left Emma's house. I've already talked about it with Lydia, and she told me that Emma wouldn't want to accept our gift if Lydia were still there. She would refuse and give the gift back to Lydia."
