"So the good news is, the doctor said there's nothing serious," said Lady Aveline to Lydia. "You're simply exhausted and stressed. If you eat your medicine and rest properly today, you should be able to leave the hospital tomorrow."
Lydia didn't say a word. She lay still, staring at the ceiling.
Lady Aveline shook her head. "Still thinking about Julien?"
"No, I'm not."
"You don't need to lie to me, young lady. I can read you like an open book."
Lydia glanced at her mother, then turned away and buried her face in the pillow.
The Queen sighed. "Look, I know how you feel, but he also has a responsibility to his company and his employees. I'm sure he wanted to be here with you, but he can't refuse when his duty calls."
"I know," said Lydia through her pillow. Lady Aveline couldn't help but smile when she heard Lydia's muffled sound.
