Chapter 17 - Lightning Class Training

BEGINNING THE LESSON

The morning sun glimmered across the waterfall, its cascading waters reflecting the golden light of Inochi's awakening aura. Kenji approached, his presence calm yet commanding, eyes sharp with focus.

"Inochi," he said, "today we begin your training in the lightning element. It should be straightforward for you, given that it is my second-favored aura. Im already capable of merging it with metal, though…"

Inochi's eyebrows shot up. "Wait metal element? Can I learn that too?"

Kenji shook his head. "No. That is a skill only I can wield, especially considering my lineage in the Midori Clan. That power is exclusive to my path."

"There are certain shinobi in the village who are in a class of their own when it comes to techniques. For example, my buddy Smoke can manipulate smoke he's in a league of his own."

Inochi let out a small groan. "Awww man… that sucks."

Kenji chuckled softly.

"Focus, Inochi. Lightning element awaits. Do not let disappointment cloud your mind."

He continued, "You already possess the ability to channel lightning you've just never attempted it.

Combined with your water element, it can significantly enhance your techniques. Imagine your mini tsunami infused with lightning it becomes a completely different, more devastating attack."

Inochi's eyes widened. "Wow… that's amazing! Where do we begin?"

LIGHTNING CLASS: SHOCKWAVE TECHNIQUE

Kenji's expression grew serious. "We'll start with a defensive technique. It is designed to protect you when trapped or pressured."

He demonstrated the stance, weaving precise hand signs while extending his arms horizontally.

A circle of lightning erupted around his body, sending a low hum through the air. "This is the Lightning Class Shockwave. It creates a barrier, forcing adversaries to release their hold or pause, giving you a chance to escape."

Inochi's mind raced with possibilities. He imagined using this in combat, turning the tide of battle with just a single surge. "Kenji Sensei, this is incredible! Let's start!"

Kenji guided him through the intricate hand signs, stressing the importance of focus. "Visualize a massive bolt of lightning. Channel your aura into it, and release it steadily. Guard your energy; precision is paramount."

Inochi nodded. "Yes, Sensei."

AWAKENING OF THE LIGHT AURA

Kenji stepped back to observe as Inochi closed his eyes, drawing a deep breath. The sound of the waterfall guided his focus. A spark ignited within his consciousness a golden glow.

Opening his eyes suddenly, he exclaimed, "Kenji Sensei! I saw it again the Light!"

Kenji froze, eyes widening. "Hmm… that is… remarkable."

Inochi shut his eyes again, concentrating, visualizing lightning surging through him.

Golden threads of light intertwined with the electric aura, coiling like serpents of pure energy. He executed the hand signs with precision.

"Lightning Class Shockwave!" he shouted. A circle of pale, golden lightning erupted, crackling with raw power.

Kenji's jaw tightened. His mind raced, analyzing the scene. The Light Dragon's aura appeared to be harmonizing with Inochi's energy, enhancing every movement and intensifying the technique.

DISCOVERY OF GENIUS

Breathing steadily, Inochi opened his eyes. "How was that, Sensei?"

Kenji's voice carried a mixture of awe and excitement. "Impressive… Inochi, what you've just done shows that the Light Dragon's aura just cooperates with your own.

Your ability to synchronize with such a force is… exceptional."

Inochi's gaze softened as realization dawned. "When I focus, when I close my eyes and connect with nature, I feel its presence.

The Light Dragon's aura flows through me, helping me channel my techniques."

Kenji nodded, smiling broadly. "Inochi, you are a genius. Few could ever achieve this level of harmony with a legendary being's aura."

He then added, "Now, I will demonstrate how to merge lightning with your mini tsunami. Observe closely."

COMBINING ELEMENTS

Kenji's hands moved fluidly. With a wave, he summoned a miniature tsunami, a surge of water rising five feet in the air.

Swiftly, he drew a kunai, channeling lightning into it, and hurled it into the wave. The water shimmered as lightning danced across its surface, creating a dazzling, electrified torrent.

Inochi's eyes gleamed. "Wow… these are advanced techniques, huh?"

Kenji smiled. "Indeed. Now it's your turn." He handed Inochi a kunai. "Channel your lightning aura into it. When you feel the energy spike, release it toward a target."

Inochi gripped the kunai, focusing. A crackling energy surged through his palm, intertwining with his lightning nature. He extended his arm, eyes fixed on a tree, and released the attack. A lightning bolt, blazing and swift, struck the trunk, leaving a deep scar.

"So this is lightning-class power," Inochi murmured. "It's incredibly fast… and it hits hard."

Kenji's eyes twinkled. "You are right. But remember precision and control are paramount. A misaligned attack could be wasted energy."

Inochi grinned. "Cool… I shall call it 'Lightning Class Thunderbolt Bullet.'"

Kenji chuckled. "Excellent name. Stabilize your aura before launching; it will make all the difference."

ENDING THE SESSION

Kenji stepped back, arms folded. "Today's training is complete. You've expended a great deal of aura. Let us rest. Afterwards, I propose we eat."

Inochi's eyes brightened. "Yes! Let's eat!"

They walked to a nearby sushi restaurant. Kenji ordered a bowl of miso ramen, while Inochi chose egg rolls and rice balls. The smell of freshly steamed rice and seasoned fish filled the air.

REFLECTING ON FRIENDS AND TEAM

As they ate, Kenji leaned closer. "Tell me, Inochi… what do you think of your team?"

Inochi didn't hesitate. "Tosuke is my closest ally, but also my fiercest competitor. He constantly pushes me to become stronger.

And Rai… he's the comedic relief, always making us laugh even in the worst situations. He's an important friend to me."

Kenji nodded approvingly. "Rivalries and bonds both build strength. Remember this: a team is only as strong as its connections."

Inochi took a bite of his rice ball and then spoke quietly. "And Kurai… I feel this instinct to protect her. At first, she seemed reserved, timid. But there's something beneath the surface… I can't explain it. She's like a shadow always with me, guiding me in a way."

Kenji raised an eyebrow. "Your desire to protect her… it's clear. That's more than technique it's heart. Your commitment will be as important as your aura in the coming exams."

Inochi smiled, a quiet confidence settling over him. "I will always protect those important to me."

FINISHING THE MEAL

Kenji finished his ramen, placing the empty bowl aside. Inochi tapped his stomach and laughed. "That was amazing! I'm full… thank you, Kenji Sensei."

"You're welcome," Kenji replied. "Rest now. When the next mission comes, your training will only continue from here."

Inochi's grin widened. "One day, I aim to surpass you, Sensei."

Kenji chuckled, ruffling his hair affectionately. "I believe you will. Come, let us head out."

Together, they exited the restaurant, the golden sunlight reflecting in the river beside them, the waterfall cascading in harmony with the crackle of residual lightning energy from their training.

Inochi's aura flared slightly as he felt the Light Dragon's presence within him, a silent promise that the power he had harnessed would continue to grow.

Today had been another step not just in technique, but in understanding himself, his friends, and the force that had chosen him as its host.

And so, Inochi Yaskue continued down the path of awakening, one step closer to the destiny Shukumei had foretold.
