Splash!
A cold, alcohol-scented liquid struck Leo's face, seeping into his pores and forcing his eyes open instantly. Leo jolted, his breath hitching as his fogged consciousness was brutally yanked awake.
"You deceived me, Leo! You total bastard!" Jane screamed. Her voice, shrill with rage, echoed through the dim living room.
Leo tried to rise with slow, heavy movements. His head felt like lead, and a throbbing migraine hammered at his temples without mercy. Jane, however, gave him no room to breathe. She lunged forward, leaning over to grab the collar of his rumpled shirt, jerking him upward with unexpected strength.
"You tricked me for that bitch, didn't you?! You gave the room that was supposed to be mine to that murderer!" Jane shrieked directly into Leo's face, her eyes flashing with a boiling hatred. "I'm going to teach her a lesson she'll never forget!"
Jane released her grip and turned with fiery steps, leaving Leo behind as he struggled to gather his wits.
