Chapter 30: The Bunny Fists of Terror and the slippery Mummy part-3
[System Alert: INVASION DETECTED. The Sand and Sound Villages are attacking. The tournament is canceled. Welcome to the War Arc.]
[Objective: Survive. Protect Naruto. Do not trip on any debris.]
"Hinata!" Kiba shook me. "Don't sleep! We are under attack!"
Boom!
A giant snake crashed through the stadium wall.
Chaos erupted. Ninjas were fighting everywhere.
"We have to go after Sasuke!" Naruto yelled. "He went after Gaara!"
"I am coming too!" I said, standing up.
"No," a voice stopped me. It was Ko, my bodyguard. He jumped down from the stands. "Lady Hinata, you must return to the compound. It is dangerous."
"But Naruto..."
"Go, Hinata!" Naruto shouted. "I will be fine! You stay safe!"
Naruto took off, chasing the monsters.
I watched him go.
(I want to go. I want to fight beside him.)
[System: You have two choices, Host. Option A: Go home and be safe. Option B: Chase the boy, likely trip into a war zone, and potentially accidental-suplex a giant snake.]
I looked at Ko. I looked at the hole in the wall where Naruto had vanished.
"I am sorry, Ko," I whispered.
I activated my Indestructible Leotard's friction reduction (which I apparently had now).
"I am going!"
I turned and sprinted toward the hole in the wall.
"Lady Hinata!" Ko yelled.
He tried to grab me. But I was still covered in the residual foam from my match.
He grabbed my arm. His hand slipped off.
Slip.
"Sorry!" I yelled over my shoulder.
I ran into the forest, chasing the scent of Naruto and danger.

The forest was a battlefield. Explosions rocked the ground.
I adjusted my glasses.
"System," I asked. "Do I have enough points for a weapon? A real weapon?"
[Current Shy Points: 2,300.]
[Shop Recommendation: "The Boomerang Kunai." It always comes back. Sometimes it hits the enemy. Sometimes it hits you. It depends on your karma.]
"I will take it!"
[Item Acquired.]
I kept running. Ahead, I heard screaming.
I burst into a clearing.
Naruto was there. Sakura was there. And Gaara... Gaara was transforming into a monster. He was half-tanuki, half-boy. He had Sakura pinned to a tree with sand.
"Naruto!" I screamed.
Gaara turned his crazed eye toward me.
"You..." Gaara hissed. "The... hugger..."
He flinched. The memory of the "accidental cuddle" in the Forest of Death seemed to haunt him.
"Stay back!" Gaara roared. "Or I will crush you with love... I mean, death!"
He was confused. The System had broken him.
"Naruto-kun, I am here to help!" I stood next to Naruto.
Naruto looked at me. "Hinata? What are you doing here? It's dangerous!"
"I am a ninja of the Leaf too!" I said, pulling out my new Boomerang Kunai.
"Okay," Naruto grinned. "Let's take him down together!"
Gaara shrieked and launched a sand shuriken.
"Look out!"
I threw my kunai.
"Take this!"
The kunai flew. It missed Gaara completely. It curved around a tree.
"I missed!" I cried.
"Duck!" the System warned.
I ducked.
The kunai came flying back.
Whiz.
It flew over my head.
It struck the buckle of Gaara's gourd strap.
Ping.
The strap broke.
The giant heavy gourd, filled with sand, detached from Gaara's back.
Gravity took over. The gourd fell.
It landed directly on Gaara's foot.
CRUNCH.
"GYYAAAHHHH!"
Gaara hopped on one foot, clutching his smashed toes. The transformation stalled because he was in legitimate, non-magical pain.
"My toe! The sand did not protect my toe!"
Naruto stared. "Did... did you aim for the strap?"
"Uhh... yes?" I lied.
[Ding!]
[Critical Hit: "The Achilles Toe." You have exploited a hitbox error in the boss.]
[Reward: 500 Shy Points.]
[System Note: Even demons feel stubbed toes.]
"Now, Naruto!" I yelled. "While he is hopping!"
"Right!" Naruto charged, summoning his shadow clones. "Uzamaki Barrage!"
I watched as Naruto pummeled the hopping Gaara.
I stood back, catching my boomerang kunai as it returned again (this time catching it by the handle, thankfully).
This was it. The chaos was working. We could win this.
But then, from the shadows, another figure emerged.
Temari.
She raised her giant fan. "Wind Scythe Jutsu!"
A tornado blasted toward us.
"Oh no," I whispered. "I don't have enough weight to withstand wind!"
The wind hit me. I was lifted off my feet.
"I am flying again!" I screamed as I was launched into the canopy.
"Hinata!" Naruto yelled.
As I flew through the air, I realized something.
I was heading straight for the giant three-headed snake that was attacking the village walls in the distance.
[System Alert: Fast Travel Initiated. Destination: The Front Lines. Good luck, Host.]
I adjusted my glasses mid-air.
"This is going to be a very long day."

"I believe I can fly," I sang internally, though in reality, I was screaming at a frequency that could shatter glass.
I was soaring over the village of Konoha, propelled by Temari's wind jutsu. Below me, fires burned, and ninjas clashed. Ahead of me loomed the gigantic, three-headed snake summon that was currently smashing the village walls like a child breaking Lego sets.
[System Notification: Airborne Status Confirmed. Trajectory locked. Target: The Giant Snake's middle head. Estimated time to impact: 5 seconds.]
(Wait. I am going to hit the snake?)
[Correction: You are going to be eaten by the snake. It has its mouth open. It thinks you are a spicy meatball.]
I looked ahead. Sure enough, the middle head of the colossal snake roared, opening a maw large enough to swallow a house. I was flying directly into its throat.
"No, no, no!" I flailed my arms.
"Bunny Fists!" I shouted, activating my chakra purely out of panic.
My hands glowed with the fluffy, rabbit-shaped chakra.
I flew into the snake's mouth.
Darkness swallowed me. The smell was atrocious—a mix of old rats and swamp water.
