Chapter 10 - Chapter 1-9: “Don’t Use the God as Your Reason”

Kin De and Gail walked beside each other. They didn't talk. They looked like an old couple who had lived together long enough to not need words. Kin De had his eyes closed, chilling as he walked. Gail's eyes were half-shut, staring at her book, but she kept glancing at Kin De. He didn't even notice. Gail looked pissed off and looked away.

Kin De finally opened his eyes and yawned.

"How about we eat honey pie today?"

Gail was silent, still walking. She finally looked at him. He had already closed his eyes again, making her blink in annoyance.

"What even makes you want to have lunch at this hour?"

They were very close to the building now. Kin De opened his eyes.

"What? Is it wrong for a man to want meat after hard work? Or is it just because you don't like meat?"

Gail: "It's not like I hate meat. Just..." She looked forward. "I just don't like how the pie becomes food."

Kin De stared at her.

Gail: "I mean, it's meat. Meat is a living creature. You have to kill it for food. It's disgusting. Do you even know how brutal it is for that poor creature?"

Kin De: "Right... you say that as if you've never eaten it before."

Gail's voice got a little higher: "Yes, I've eaten it before! But it doesn't mean I want to hurt them."

Kin De look away.

"Vegan."

Gail shouting him back.

"I am not vegan!"

Kin De look at her.

"You look like one of them."

Gail punches his stomach softly.

"I am not that crazy."

Kin De staring her.

"They also kill people. I don't think it's the problem."

She looks at his eye.

"So, what is the problem? Hm? You are just straight up cold enough for don't value the lives."

Kin De touch his own forehead then stepped closer and held her left hand tight. They stopped walking.

Kin De: "Let me remind you of one thing." He looked into her eyes. "Those creatures are predators. And even if they aren't—they are dangerous. People are not safe with them."

Gail stared at him: "I don't like your predator eyes."

Kin De snapped his head a little: "Well... we were predators in the past."

Gail was silent and looked away. Kin De realized he was still holding her hand too tight. So, he slowly let go.

Kin De: "Gail... I..."

Gail held her own left hand. Kin De's cheeks turned a little pink. She just doesn't look at him. Not even single peek. So, He slowly reached out to rest his hand on her arm.

Kin De: "I want to be there for you. Let me take this path."

Gail avoided his eyes.

Kin De: "I can make you happy... a good life. We don't need anything fancy."

Gail looked at him.

"It's already pointless. We already discussed this in the past."

She brushed his hand off her arm and kept walking. Kin De watched her go.

"Why have you been so stubborn all these years?"

Gail didn't look back.

"Your feelings are just a sin on the Goder Road. And I don't feel that way."

Kin De's eyebrows pulled down.

 "I know the truth, Gail."

Gail stopped. She looked back slightly.

 "What?"

Kin De wiped his hand.

"You always tell me to bury the truth, when the truth is obvious. You really think I going to believe your lie?"

Gail: "Don't be so full of yourself, Kin De Soe." Her voice was a warning.

Kin De laughed once. Only one laugh. "Don't call me 'Soe'. And what took you so long to put that sentence in your words?"

Gail stared at him: "You are just a fool." She looked straight ahead. "And about what you said..."

Kin De looked confused. Gail smiled a little.

 "It's true. About the feelings."

Kin De was shocked.

 "Then... why?"

Gail's smile vanished instantly. She took a deep breath.

Gail: "BECAUSE WE ARE THE SLAVES OF GOD. WE PRAY FOR THEM, WE SHOUT FOR THEM, WE LIVE FOR THEM, AND WE ALSO—" She looked at him. "—HATE THE GODS MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE IN THIS WORLD!"

She breathed heavily.

"Got it?"

Kin De stayed silent. She started walking again.

Kin De whispered: "You can't use that as a reason. Gods don't exist just to be used as reasons."

Suddenly, Gail noticed something. She stopped and observed the surroundings.

 "Did you hear that?"

Voices were coming from the T-Place. Gail walked over and stared at the wall. She noticed the building wall was slightly sunk into the ground.

Kin De looked at her, not buying it.

"I don't hear anything, Gail. I just think you're trying to cut this conversation."

Gail looks at him. "We don't have time for this. Don't you hear the voices?"

Inside the building, Tim, Ha Men, and De Ra Goe realized the footsteps belonged to Gail and Kin De. They sighed in relief. Ha Men leaned on De Ra Goe's chest.

Ha Men (quietly): "Thank god, it's Kin De Soe."

De Ra Goe released Ha Men, and Ha Men nearly slipped because it's Ha Men. De Ra Goe caught Ha Men by the head, his legs swinging in the air.

De Ra Goe (whispering): "And Gail Soe..."

Ha Men swung in the air, trying to escape De Ra Goe's grip on his head. Tim didn't let his guard down. He listened carefully. De Ra Goe looked at Tim.

"Let's go, Tim. Knowledge is dangerous."

They heard Gail's voice from outside: "Seriously, Kin?"

Ha Men finally escaped De Ra Goe's grip. He looked dizzy.

Ha Men: "Does Gail Soe always call Kin De like that?"

De Ra Goe poked Ha Men's head: "They've known each other for a long time. Maybe you're right."

Ha Men stuck out his tongue. It was sharp, but not like a knife.

Ha Men: "Hm-hm. Now call me a genius—ack!"

He accidentally bit his own tongue. De Ra Goe smirked.

De Ra Goe: "Yes, yes. You are a genius."

Ha Men's teeth looked sharp. He looked like he was in pain. Tim sighed and looked at De Ra Goe.

Tim: "I guess we can go—"

Then they heard Gail again.

Gail: "If you really want to talk about cutting conversations, you need to talk about Lut Set too."

They boys are froze.

Ha Men (whispering): "How much of their conversation did we skip?"

Tim: "Shh. I don't know..."

Outside, Kin De: "I don't know what you're talking about, Gail."

They came closer to the building.

Gail: "Why did you tell him he is special? Have you lost your mind?"

Kin De (calmly): "Is it wrong that he has the qualifications for that role?"

Ha Men looked at De Ra Goe: "What are they talking about?"

De Ra Goe focused: "I don't know."

Tim listened carefully. Outside, Gail was in a bad mood. Her voice got louder.

Gail: "Kin De Soe!"

Kin De didn't look at her. Gail bared her teeth—they were sharp like Ha Men's.

Gail: "He's not ready yet!"

Kin De: "I'm not going to talk about this, Gail."

Inside the T-Place, De Ra Goe accidentally spoke in a normal voice or send the message where people around of him. "What is going on?"

Tim immediately looked at him. The voices outside went silent. Then, Gail lifting the big window with her only hand. This wall is just a glass for the whole time. The boys tried to run, but Ha Men and Tim were already caught by Kin De. De Ra Goe stops running and looked back.

Kin De was holding the two boys in his hands, their bodies swinging in the air.

Kin De (whispering): "Now, now... what do we have here?"
