"I will take care of it." Ann stepped forward, but in the nick of time, Jade caught her arm, pulling her back.
"No," she said. She grabbed a new box of tea from the shelf opposite her and rushed to the door. "I will take care of it." Without further ado, she unlocked and opened the door, standing face to face with the guard.
"Oh, it's you." She scoffed. "I am almost done with his food. I just need to make his tea." The guard ignored her. His eyes were rather fixed on who was behind her, Ann. But Jade noticed and tried to divert his attention. "Did you come to help me?"
The guard turned, perplexed. "Why would I do that?"
"Because Van often sends guards to help me cook, sometimes." She replied, unwilling to move from the door where she had stood the whole time. In that moment, Ann stepped forward and offered the guard a warm smile.
