Chapter 20 - Animal Attacks!

As they were standing there lost in the conversation a slight sound of heels clashing against the ground rang out.

Everyone looked in the direction of the sound.

It was Rosalie, she was walking towards them.

She smiled as she walked towards Emmett, as she arrived beside him she grabbed his arm.

"Hello, honey." She said.

Emmett smiled.

"Hello."

Rosalie shot Silas a provocative glare as if she had won.

Silas looked at this and got an idea.

"Sigh."

Emmett looked at Silas.

"What's up brother, why are you sighing?"

Silas shook his head regretfully.

"I didn't know you had such a flaw, good brother."

"But it's not your fault."

Emmett looked confused.

"What do you mean?"

Silas didn't answer.

"It's nothing, no one is perfect."

As Silas said this, Rosalie was staring daggers at him, the anger in her gaze was apparent.

But she couldn't say anything, after all, he hadn't mentioned her, she can't just "accuse him".

Plus even if they knew he was talking about her, it could still backfire.

Alice who was watching this interaction from the side was confused… but the more she looked the more she seemed to understand.

Then she let out a suppressed chuckle as she turned around and held for her mouth. It seems Rosalie has been out maneuvered.

Jasper on the side seemed to have understood something as well. The subtle hostility and dissatisfaction Rosalie had for the new kid, combined with the anger she was radiating now.

Tsk. The new kid is not to be underestimated.

Emmett looked confused but as he looked at Rosalie's face he seemed to understand something. But it didn't seem to bother him.

"Let's get to lunch."

With that everyone started to walk in the direction of the cafeteria. Jasper and Ella were walking in front, then came Rosalie… and at the back was Emmett to the right, Silas in the middle, and Alice to the right.

Silas didn't know what to say, was he this charismatic? I knew I was handsome but this is too much, right?

As he walked he pretended to look around.

"Don't you guys have another sibling?"

Alice nodded.

"We do but he is in Alaska, visiting some relatives, he will be back next week."

Silas nodded.

Just then they arrived at the cafeteria.

Silas looked around slightly and was a little shocked by the amount of people staring at them.

He split from the group and headed towards the cafeteria line, he needed his apple and juice.

As he stood in line he heard a sound.

"What are you gonna get?"

He looked over, and saw that Alice was still beside him.

"You don't have to look at me like I'm some prisoner about to escape, you can sit at the table and I will come over."

Alice smiled.

"I'm not surveilling you, I'm just keeping you company, so you don't feel lonely."

Silas smiled.

Soon it was his turn.

"What do you want today, dear?"

Silas looked at what was displayed, the cuisine was none improved. Sigh.

"An apple and orange juice." Gotta switch it up, you know.

The lunch lady smiled and soon got it on the counter.

"Is that all?"

"Yeah."

He took out some money and handed it over. He turned to Alice and asked.

"What are you gonna get?"

Alice looked over at the display then at what he held in his hands.

"I will take the same as you."

The lunch lady heard and soon put it on the counter.

Alice was about to reach into her pocket to take out some money, but just then Silas put some money on the counter.

"Here."

Alice looked a little surprised at the scene.

"You didn't have to pay for me, I have money myself."

Silas nodded.

"I know, you were just too slow."

Alice smiled, liar.

"I will pay for your lunch tomorrow then."

Silas nodded.

They walked towards the table and sat down. The other cullens were already seated.

Silas sat down to the left of Emmett, and Alice sat down on his left.

Emmett looked at his haul.

"What did you get?"

Silas moved the juice forward and held up the apple. Alice did the same.

Emmett looked at it and said.

"That's it?"

Silas nodded.

"The cafeteria is a food desert. This is what is barely edible."

Emmett nodded and said.

"I hear you, we don't like it either."

Silas nodded, and took a bite of his apple.

He subtly looked around the cafeteria. As his view passed over a table in the far corner he saw a familiar figure.

The copy pervert.

He looked over her table and it was… empty. Shocker.

Kate was sitting with her head down, and poking at some sludge.

As he was lost in though a voice broke through.

"What are you looking at?" Alice asked, curious. She had just seen him staring towards the corner.

Silas looked over and said.

"That girl over there."

Alice looked over, indeed there sat a girl there.

"Do you know her?"

"Yeah, she is my desk mate in biology… she seems to have a fetish."

Alice was curious.

"What do you mean?"

Silas looked over at her then said.

"She seemed quite shy and timid at first, then she took the study material, and just said I could copy her later… she seemed quite adamant about me copying her."

Alice furrowed her brows and looked over at the girl again.

"I don't think she has a fetish."

Silas looked at her.

"Why do you say that?" He said that and took a bite of his apple, awaiting her response.

Alice looked at him and raised an eyebrow in amusement at his antics.

She then turned to look at the girl again, with a slightly more serious expression.

"As far as I know… she is a bullying victim."

Silas stopped chewing for a second then continued. Not a pervert?

Emmett looked over.

"Who is a bullying victim?"

Alice answered.

"That girl over there."

Emmett looked over.

"Yeah, isn't she the one those so-called `popular kids` copy off?"

Alice nodded.

Silas felt the apple in his mouth was gradually losing taste… although he didn't do anything, he still felt bad.

He looked over at Emmett.

"Who usually copies off her?"

Emmett looked around the cafeteria searching for something.

"Those girls there." He said as he moved his head in a nodding way towards a table of girls and boys.

Silas looked over. Sure enough, it was the usual popular kids DNA. Above average looks, nice clothes, not smart but good at playing the social game, aka good at being surrounded by fake people.

Silas frowned.

"Hasn't she tried telling the school?"

Rosalie, who was now also participating in the conversation, sneered and said.

"It seems you've never been bullied."

Silas looked at her, she wasn't wrong… but what did that have to do with his question?

Rosalie's sneer deepened.

"Going to the school is useless, even if they help, which they most likely won't, they will at most get suspended, then when they come back they will just make life hell for her… or more than it already is."

Silas looked thoughtful…she might have a point. But why did she think he was going to want to copy off her?

He looked back at Rosalie and asked.

"Then why did she think I would want to copy her? I've never bullied her."

Rosalie looked him up and down and then let out a malicious chuckle.

"She probably sorted you straight into the: Asshole popular kid section."

Silas frowned, the words were quite harsh, was she taking revenge? He looked over at Emmett for confirmation.

Emmett upon seeing this smiled apologetically.

"The words are harsh brother, but she is right, you are handsome, rich, dress well, and are desired by most… it would be easy for you to bully her with your social standing."

Silas took a bite of his apple. Thanks brother, for the nice words… didn't at all sound like you were cursing me.

He looked over at the lonely figure at the table in the corner and frowned.

He needed to ask her later in biology if it was true… and if it was, well animal attacks and missing people are common occurrences in Forks.
