I never expected to be in so much trouble… The three samurai walked side by side, with me in the middle.
"I know this is a bad time… but I gotta take a leak," Shiro said while squeezing his legs together.
Daki rolled her eyes, and Ms. Asami sighed. "What was the whole point in coming with us then… Hmph, it doesn't matter. We're almost there."
After what seemed like forever, we made it to what looked like a normal torii gate.
All of a sudden, the three samurai clasped their hands together and whispered some very rapid chant. "Uhm… What's going–"
Out of nowhere, the torches all light up at the same time, lighting up the walkway.
"Heh, it never gets old seeing the 'newbies' get frightened at the ritual," Shiro says with a soft chuckle.
I mumbled something in irritation; however, one of Shiro's words caught my attention… Did he just call me a newbie…?
"I don't understand. What do you mean by newbie?" Daki pats my back and laughs. "Welcome to the team, rookie! You are now a part of the Shakaromi Samurai Defense League!"
My eyes widened. Did she just say what I thought she said!? I quickly look at Ms. Asmai in mild confusion and nervousness.
"I forgot to say I was kidding about the criminal act, that's just our way of joking around~" Ms. Asami says with a serious face, but a slightly sheepish tone.
"Are… You… KIDDING ME!!!??? I have two questions… One, WHY DID YOU TRICK ME LIKE THAT!? And two, WHY AM I IN THE S.S.D.L.???"
My frustration got the best of me; I was overwhelmed, scared, and relieved all at the same time. The three samurai all stare at me as I try to calm my racing heart.
"I want answers, and I want them now."
