Chapter 22 – The John Wick Phenomenon
October 2014 – Box Office Success
Sleeping in late wasn't a luxury Jacob Stewart usually had. But that morning, after the opening night of John Wick and the big party that followed, he finally allowed himself to sleep a little longer.
When he opened his eyes, his bedroom in Los Angeles was bathed in sunlight. Lucky, his black Labrador, slept beside the bed, breathing peacefully.
Jacob picked up his cell phone from the bedside table and saw that there were hundreds of notifications.
Messages, calls, emails.
And at the top of the list, a message from Richard Calloway, his agent:
Richard: CALL ME NOW!
Jacob frowned, still half asleep. But before calling, he opened a link Richard had sent. It was an article from The Hollywood Reporter with the title:
"John Wick surprises at the box office and becomes a global phenomenon."
He began to read.
"The action film starring newcomer Jacob Stewart and directed by Chad Stahelski grossed an impressive $86 million worldwide in its opening weekend, exceeding all expectations. With an estimated budget of between $20 and $30 million, John Wick has already recouped its costs and is now on track for a major profit. Positive word-of-mouth and excellent reviews indicate that the film may continue to grow in the coming weeks."
Jacob blinked a few times.
$86 million?!
He immediately called Richard.
The agent answered on the first ring.
"Did you see that?!"
"I just saw it," said Jacob, still trying to process it. "Is that real?"
Richard laughed on the other end of the line.
"It's more than real, Jacob. It's official." You didn't just star in a hit movie, you just propelled one of the biggest surprises of the year!
Jacob got out of bed and paced the room, trying to absorb the information.
"So… what does this mean exactly?"
"It means Hollywood is on its knees for you now."
Jacob laughed.
"A bit of an exaggeration, don't you think?"
"No exaggeration at all!" Richard retorted. "The studios are calling. Directors want to meet you. The press wants interviews. This is just the beginning!"
Jacob looked at Lucky, who was now yawning lazily.
"I didn't expect the movie to be this successful."
"Nobody expected it!" said Richard. "They thought John Wick would just be a run-of-the-mill action movie. But the audience loved it. Word of mouth is strong, social media is exploding, and critics are praising the flawless action and your performance."
Jacob sat on the edge of the bed, rubbing his face.
"Man, I don't even know how to react to this."
Richard laughed.
"Well, I have some ideas. Get dressed, grab a coffee, and come to the office. We need to talk about Jacob Stewart's future."
The Agency Office – Discussing the Future
Two hours later, Jacob entered Richard's office, where a large TV screen displayed box office charts, reviews, and social media trends.
Richard pointed to the screen.
"Look at this. Analyses indicate that John Wick could surpass $150 million in the next few weeks."
Jacob shook his head, still incredulous.
"That's surreal."
"And it gets even better," Richard continued. "Lionsgate is ecstatic. They want to speed up the sequel."
Jacob frowned.
"Already?"
Richard laughed.
"Man, when a movie pays for itself in a weekend and starts generating profit on the first Saturday, the studios don't waste any time." They're already developing the script for John Wick 2.
Jacob took a deep breath.
"And what does that mean for me?"
Richard smiled.
"It means your salary will skyrocket. You received a modest fee for the first film, but for the sequel? We can negotiate something much bigger."
Jacob crossed his arms, thoughtful.
"I want more than just money, Richard. I want good roles. I want to make films that are truly worthwhile."
Richard nodded.
"And that's exactly why we're having this conversation. You're not just an action actor now. You have options."
Jacob leaned forward.
"So tell me what those options are."
Richard picked up a tablet and began listing proposals.
"First, there are directors wanting to meet you. Quentin Tarantino has publicly praised your work. Christopher Nolan mentioned your name in a recent meeting. That means you can go beyond action."
Jacob arched his eyebrows.
"Nolan? Seriously?"
"Yes. And there's more. Some studios want you to star in new franchises. Others want to insert you into existing sagas."
Jacob scratched his beard, absorbing everything.
"I want to make smart choices."
Richard smiled.
"And we will. But now… we need to seize the moment."
That same night, Jacob went home and turned on the TV to see how John Wick was being treated by the media.
E! News had a special segment about the film:
"Nobody expected John Wick to be this big, but Jacob Stewart proved he's a force to be reckoned with. "His performance and on-screen presence transformed an action film into a cinematic event!"
Deadline published an article titled:
"How Jacob Stewart and John Wick reinvented modern action cinema"
"Stewart's performance brought a rare realism to the genre, combining impeccable physicality with genuine emotional intensity. The result? A film that captivated audiences and resurrected the action thriller formula in an electrifying way."
On Twitter, fans were ecstatic:
"JACOB STEWART IS THE NEW KING OF ACTION. John Wick is simply PERFECT!"
"Finally an action film that respects the audience. No exaggerated CGI, just insane choreography and a badass protagonist."
"Jacob Stewart was an unknown a year ago. Now he's an action monster." "The industry NEEDS him."
Jacob chuckled to himself as he scrolled through the comments.
This was really happening.
He glanced at Lucky, who was lying next to him on the couch.
"I think we'll be busy for the next few years, kid."
Lucky wagged his tail, and Jacob just smiled.
The future was shining brighter than ever.
And he was ready to take over Hollywood.
Chapter 23 – An Unforgettable Night
November 2014 – The Star Party
Jacob Stewart had never seen a party like this before.
The ballroom of the luxury hotel in Beverly Hills was packed with some of the most influential people in the world. Renowned directors, legendary actors, stunning models a veritable parade of stars.
Richard Calloway, his agent, had practically forced him to attend.
"Jacob, you need to come. This isn't just a party, it's a field of opportunity. You can meet directors who can offer you incredible roles."
And he was right.
Jacob had already spoken with Christopher Nolan, who mentioned working on a new secret project. Quentin Tarantino passed by him and said he loved John Wick. Michael Bay asked if he would be interested in a "big action movie with epic explosions."
But now, the night was about to get even more interesting.
Jacob was sitting in a VIP area, drink in hand, when he sensed their presence. Four of the world's most desirable women stood before him:
Gisele Bündchen – the Brazilian supermodel who redefined the fashion world.
Adriana Lima – the exotic beauty who captivated runways and international campaigns.
Alessandra Ambrosio – another Brazilian who conquered the world with her impeccable presence.
Heidi Klum – the Victoria's Secret legend, a woman of attitude and undeniable charm.
Jacob smiled, leaning slightly forward.
"I must be dreaming."
The four laughed.
"I think you're wide awake," said Gisele, with a provocative smile.
Adriana Lima sat beside him and crossed her legs, her tight dress highlighting her curves.
"You've been attracting a lot of attention lately, Jacob."
Alessandra nodded.
"But you know what's funny?"
"What?" he asked.
Heidi smiled.
"You're on top of the world now, but men like you almost never look at women like us."
Jacob raised an eyebrow.
"What do you mean?"
Gisele took a sip of champagne before answering.
"Men look at us like trophies, but they don't really try to have fun with us."
Adriana tilted her head.
"It's like they think we're untouchable, or that we need to be treated like porcelain dolls."
Jacob smiled slightly.
"So you're saying you're tired of being treated like goddesses and want… a little fun?"
The four exchanged glances and laughed softly.
Alessandra smiled.
"Exactly."
Jacob swirled his glass in his hands, looking at them one by one.
"If it's fun you want… I promise this will be a night you'll never forget."
Heidi bit her lower lip and laughed.
"I love a confident man."
Gisele leaned close to Jacob's ear and whispered,
"Then prove it to us."
Jacob looked around, knowing that media attention could fall on him at any moment.
"Let's leave separately so as not to attract attention. We'll meet at my house."
Adriana smiled.
"Sounds like a plan."
And so, one by one, they left the party.
The night was just beginning.
