Gzi'om looked at him like he had lost his mind, then closed his eyes and gave a little laugh. "That's right, you wouldn't know what that is. A Nexus world is a place where energies and realms converge. 'Magic' exists in the universe and mortals can use it. Your God has barriers in place to prevent mortals on your world from accessing it."
"Why?"
"Because you would be too powerful," Gzi'om explained. "Being born and existing in a Nexus saturates you with so much energy that your abilities would be off the charts. You probably would have destroyed your world by now if your God had allowed you access to magic. It's happened before. Another effect of being on a Nexus world is that you get all the stories from every other realm. The energies connecting you to the other realms give people on your world glimpses into what's happened in those realms. That's why there is an overwhelming number of stories in your world. You got to let all that out."
"Wow," Zane said, looking back out into the universe. "You told Érimón that I have abilities bound to my soul that will give me an edge in his world. What are those?"
Gzi'om looked at him for a long moment before answering. "I guess there's no harm in telling you. I was going to wait until you were on whatever world you go to, but it doesn't matter. Your ability to move and anticipate, as well as your endurance. Why do you think you were able to dodge my trucks? Your fast, you look and plan ahead on the spot, and you don't tire easily. This will give you a great advantage in the worlds you're going to."
"That's good to know."
Érimón sighed, drawing their attention. "I'll take your offer. I feel like my mortals will be able to deal with this eventually, but by then it may be too late."
"Good, good," Gzi'om said, leaning forward to look at Zane. "Zane, are you willing to go to this world and help with their problem?"
Zane nodded. "Why else am I here? Plus, I like the idea of helping people. I do have a few questions though."
Érimón smiled. "I knew you would. Ask away."
"What exactly is the problem on your world that you need help with?"
"The energies are not right and I'm having trouble finding out why."
"Energies?"
Érimón stared at him for a moment before turning to Gzi'om. "Did you teach him nothing before you brought him to me?"
Gzi'om shrugged. "Didn't have time."
"Really?" Érimón said sarcastically. He sighed and turn back to Zane. "Energy flows through the universe. Different cultures call it different things. Mana, Qi, Ether, and whatever else you'll encounter. I call it Mana. This energy is chaotic. In some places it creates, in others it destroys. As sentience beings, we find ways to focus this chaotic energy, enhancing the creation and destruction. As I create worlds and place life on them, I cannot restrict the flow of Mana, otherwise no life would exist on my world. I must accept the benefits and detriments that come along with it."
"Then why can no one on my world use magic?"
"Your God restricts you, not the Mana. The Mana is still there. Now, the problem I'm have is that there is an energy that isn't Mana that is influencing the development of life on my world."
"Wouldn't that make it easier to find?" Zane said. "A different energy would stand out."
"It does," Érimón admitted. "Until you get close to it. It disappears whenever I or one of my angels come near it. That doesn't happen when mortals come close to it, but they tend to die when they get to close."
"So, you want me to investigate this energy? I assume that's its protected?"
Érimón nodded.
"Don't you have powerful people who can investigate this?"
"No one who is powerful enough," Érimón admitted. "Anyone who I would make powerful enough would drive the energy away because of how much of my power they contain."
"Wouldn't that happen when I get close to it?"
"No, because of your connection to the Gzi'om or at that's what he tells me."
"I assure you that this energy your describing won't flee from him," Gzi'om said.
"Why is that?" Zane asks.
Gzi'om smiles. "That's a secret."
Zane stares at him, lifting one eyebrow. After a few moments, he shakes his head and signs. "Fine. Keep your secret."
"Oh, he does," Érimón says. "If there is one thing he is good at, its keeping secrets."
"I can't do my job if everyone knows what I'm up to," Gzi'om said.
"Anyway, what level of technology do you have?" Zane said.
"His world is a medieval fantasy world," Gzi'om told him.
Zane nodded. "I know in these isekai stories they would have some kind of video game system with statuses and menus. Will I get some kind of system?"
Érimón stared at him, confused. "Isekai? Video Game? Menu? What are you talking about?"
"Well…" Zane started to explain, but Gzi'om stopped and held up one finger to Érimón. "May I?"
Érimón looked at him for a moment before nodding and leaning his head forward. Gzi'om touched Érimón's head with the finger and held it there for a few seconds. Érimón leaned back, his faced looking like he was listening to something.
"What did you do?" Zane said.
"I put my knowledge of your world into his head directly," Gzi'om said. "At least, the knowledge of your stories and video games. A lot quicker this way."
"I would say so," Zane said, watching Érimón. The God's face twitched and his expressions changed as he went through the information that Gzi'om had given him. He started muttering, but Zane could only catch random words. Like 'I see', or "that could…". It was mostly a lot of hmmms, and other grunts.
After a few minutes, Érimón nodded, looking at them. "This is an excellent way to help my children keep track of their progress. It could really motivate them to work harder and become better. Plus, it might help keep down with the foolishness some of them have about who's stronger. Duels have really been a problem. I'm going to implement this right away."
"No! Don't!" Gzi'om said and then he groaned as Érimón's eyes grew empty. "Crap! Who knows how long he's going to be?"
"What is happening?" Zane said, waving his hand in front of Érimón face and getting no reaction. "It seems like his mind isn't here."
"That's because it isn't here. He sent his consciousness back to his world. He's implementing the system you will be using among his children."
"He's giving the system to all of his people?" Zane said. "I thought that this would be my cheat?"
"Believe me, you'll get things that none of his children will have," Gzi'om said. "Especially since you'll have blessings from me, along with your innate abilities."
"What blessings from you? What innate abilities?"
Gzi'om sighed. "I wasn't going to tell you about them until Érimón had given you the system, but since we have no idea how long he will be, I might as well tell you. I'll go over your innate abilities first. As I told you, you come from a world that is overflowing with energy. Despite your God blocking your ability to use this power, your body has naturally used this abundance. You're one of the few whose body has been able to bypass what your God put in place. It has increased your agility and endurance to levels far beyond a normal mortals. When you awaken on Érimón world, with no restrictions placed upon you, your going to feel it. It will probably take you a little bit to get used to it."
"So, I'm going to be faster and be able to run longer?"
"Among other things," Gzi'om said. "Agility isn't just speed, its flexibility. You'll be able to bend and do maneuvers that others can't even attempt. Plus, you'll be able to last longer and your natural defenses are much higher. In other words, not only are you going to be difficult to hit, but when they do hit you, they will have to hit harder to cause any damage."
"So, will I be stronger then? Strength provides a foundation for agility and endurance."
"Yes, you will be a little stronger, but not to the same level. That includes your perception as well. That is required for your mind to take advantage of the increased abilities."
Zane nodded. "So, my natural abilities will be better. What about other things? Will I be given skills or magic?"
"You will have skills. I will given a couple, but as for magic, that will be up to Érimón. Most of that stuff will come from him."
"What about equipment?"
"That will come from him. Though, I think I want to give you a weapon. Tell me, what kind of weapon would you like?"
Zane thought about it for a minute, a smile coming to his face after a bit. "Do you know the game Assassin's Creed?"
Gzi'om nodded.
"I love that game series. Especially Black Flag. There was something about being a pirate."
Gzi'om laughed. "Figures that your favorite game would have a large parkouring element."
Zane gave him a large grin. "Parkour is life. Back to weapons, I want wrist blades."
"You know, there are problems with that weapon. Not very feasible as a main."
Zane shrugged. "I don't care. Surely you can fix those issues and, if they are only a supplemental weapon, I'm okay with that. It's just a thing that I want."
"Fine," Gzi'om said. "Though I'm going to make some changes to it, so it retains its usefulness."
"That's fine with me. What are these other skills you're going to give me?"
"There are two skills that you need to accomplish what I want you to do on Érimón's world. First, I will be granting you Life Sense. You'll know where every living thing around you is and what their strengths and weaknesses are. Second, a skill that will along you to use the power of the Truck-kun."
"Power of the Truck-kun?" Zane said. "What are you wanting me to do there?"
"My presence is not established on Érimón's world yet and it won't be until Érimón agrees to a more permanent arrangement. You will be my representative on this world. Part of the agreement that the various Gods have with me is that they will allow me to take some of there children to act as heroes on other worlds. Your world provides me with the most candidates because it's a nexus world, but that doesn't mean that other worlds can't contribute as well. You will be able to sense when someone is a worthy candidate and then use the power of the Truck-kun to bring them here."
Zane stared at him for a moment. "You want me to kill people to bring them here."
"Well, death is a necessary part of this process," Gzi'om admitted. "But only those who will die soon can be chosen."
"Do I have to kill them myself or do I summon a Truck-kun?"
"Either works for me."
"I'd rather summon a Truck-kun. Might make it a little easier." Zane muttered, unhappy about this development.
"That'll work then. The power I giving you will grow and adapt over time."
"Adapt how?"
"I'm not sure," Gzi'om said, rubbing his face as he thought for a moment. "I've never given my power to a mortal before. I'm not quite sure how it will react and change as you use it. Then there's the fact you'll have a system given by Érimón. My power will interact with that as well. It will be interesting to observe."
