Zane watched as the blade descended towards him. His mind seemed to speed up at the speed of light. How am I going to avoid this? What can I do? I don't have a shield to block it, and I dropped my sword. If I put my hands up, it'll just cut right through my hands and I won't have any hands. Though, having no hands is better than being dead, but if it cuts through my hands it might just then cut through my head.
So, if I can't block it, then I have to dodge it. I'm not in a good position to dodge. What am I going to do? Of course, I have my parkour skill. So, I just need to push myself out of the way and lay my head back so that the blade will go over my face. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what we'll do.
This thought process all took under a second, and Zane put his hands up, activating his parkour skill in order to push himself backwards. The mana platform appeared in front of his hand just as the champions blade reached him. He pushed back and there was a loud clank as the sword stopped.
He didn't have time to think about what happened as the rat spun, swinging its tail around. Without thinking, he swung his hand in front of the metal ball at the end of the rat's tail and activated his parkour skill, not pushing off this time. The ball hit the solid mana and bounced off the barrier. The champion didn't stop, turning around to swing his sword at Zane's head.
He blocked this attack as well and stood in place as the rat launched a series of attacks with both his sword and tail. The mana platforms were absorbing all momentum from the attacks, which allowed Zane to stay in place. He knew he couldn't stay here for long though. He was fighting purely defensively, and he needed to attack if he wanted to win this. However, he had no weapon. He did have some experience with martial arts, but he didn't know how effective that would be against full plate mail. So, he had to create an opportunity to get his sword.
As the rat's tail came in for its next attack, Zane stepped into it, stopping the end with his mana and seizing the tail with his other hand. He quickly grabbed with the other hand that had blocked the end of the tail. The champion shook its tail about, trying to dislodge him. For a few moments, it was all Zane could do to hold on. Using the parkour skill underneath his feet, he stopped the momentum and pulled with his whole body. He was told multiple times that his stats are extremely high for someone at his level. He wanted to see if it was true.
The sudden, strong jerk caused the rat to lose its footing and fall forward onto its hands. Zane twisted and pulled, swinging His opponent around and threw him across the room. As the champion scrambled to find its footing, Zane darted to where his sword lay and then scrambled to get his shield.
He grabbed them and adjusted his angle, using his parkour skill to give him better footing as he sprinted towards the rat, trying to maintain the advantage he had. If he let the rat get back on its feet, he knew that he would be back in the situation he was in at the beginning of the fight.
The Champion was turning to face Zane. Zane activated his bash ability, pushing forward with his shield. The mana spike formed at the end of the shield as he lunged forward. The rat brought his sword around catching the shield and redirecting the momentum. However, the tip of the spike grazed its shoulder causing it to flinch back.
Zane allowed the momentum of his deflected attack to help him spin, leading with his sword to hit the other arm of the rat. He kept swinging his sword, the piercing attribute of his sword ripping lines and holes into the armor of his opponent. The rat tried to fight back and block the attacks, but Zane was not letting it find its footing. Anytime the rat brought its tail into play, Zane blocked it with his parkour skill.
At this point, the champions large sword was a liability. Zane was too close to him and used quick slashes and stabs. The rat let go of his sword and attempt to grab at Zane's hand, but his aim was off, and Zane sliced through his hand, severing the appendage. The Champion screamed, but Zane kept slashing and then ended with a piercing thrust through the head.
Zane stood there for a moment as the Ratman Champion twitched at the end of his sword. His heart was pumping so hard and there was a big smile on his face. He pulled his sword out, letting the body fall to the floor, and he turned to look at the kitten.
Of course, it wasn't a kitten anymore. She was sitting on top of the Ratman knight and cleaning its face with its paws. She looked up at him after a moment and put its paws down, tilting its head as it waited for him to say something.
"That was freaking awesome! Did you see how I turned that around? I thought I was dead there for a moment. I don't think I've ever felt so much adrenaline rushing through me. It's making it hard to breathe." Zane took a deep breath to try and settle himself down, though all he wanted to do was yell and scream. His mind was a blur as he tried to process all the different twists and turns that had happened. The fact that he could use the parkour skill that way was such a game changer. That was such an amazing rush. He was so psyched.
"That was quite an amazing turnaround. I thought you were going to die as well. I will point out; I killed mine faster than you killed yours."
