Rain
I watched the carriage speed into the distance, then it disappeared from sight. The snow was light and slippery but navigable. Everyone watched me with pity, disgust, and shame. The place I've called home all my life suddenly felt cold… too cold.
My brothers watched me from the side, the king cursed under his breath, and the ministers mocked openly. Still, I held on to one man. A man I may never see again.
Slowly, I made my way inside, the mighty pillars a witness to the pain in my heart.
"Oh my… someone will regret this!" a taunting voice said from behind.
I didn't stop. I didn't have the strength to argue with an attention seeker like him, but his persistence soon became annoying.
"He will return to his people and never come back." Victor laughed so loud his voice echoed through the walls.
"You can marry. I heard Marcus has an alpha friend who quite likes you even though you're annoying… marry him. You can be certain he will treat you nice."
