Jenna's breathing turned ragged as she pressed her palm against her wrist, trying to slow the bleeding. But warm blood soaked her fingers. Coupled with how hot the weather was, the blood ran even faster, like broken tap.
Even so, she didn't dare to relax. Her eyes remained locked on the creature.
Knowing she'd discovered its weakness, the Skinwalker's body trembled violently.
Then, to Jenna's growing horror—
It began to expand.
Its segmented body stretched, bones cracking and shifting beneath the armored shell. Limbs elongated, muscles bulging grotesquely as its entire frame swelled off the floor.
In the blink of an eye, the skunk-like parasite was gone, replaced by a massive reptilian monster with skinny long limbs. Its scales were jagged and dark, its jaws filled with rows of needle-like teeth.
And behind it—
A long, whip-like tail tipped with a curved blade-like spike.
The knife was still protruding in its abdomen, like a tiny inconvenience.
Jenna's stomach dropped.
