Jubilife City stood as a testament to Sinnoh's industrial might—a sprawling metropolis carved into the mountainside, where traditional stone architecture met the neon glow of cutting-edge technology. For Ash, it was more than just a landmark; it was the first major stage where the "new script" would begin to take shape.
Under Dawn's enthusiastic lead, the group's first stop wasn't the Contest Hall, but the Pokétch Company's flagship store. However, the sight that greeted them was a series of bare shelves and a very apologetic clerk.
"Sold out? But today was the launch!" Dawn cried, her shoulders slumping.
"I am deeply sorry," the clerk sighed, bowing low. "A suspicious trio caused a major malfunction in the initial shipment. We've had to recall almost every unit for security reasons."
Ash rubbed his temples. He didn't need a Pokédex to identify the "suspicious trio." Team Rocket's interference was as predictable as the sunrise.
"Are there really none left?" Dawn asked, her voice tinged with desperation.
The clerk hesitated, glancing at the back room. "We have the Deluxe Editions in reserve, but the price point is... significant. Most travelers find them a bit out of reach."
Ash didn't hesitate. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a heavy, glittering Gold Nugget, letting it thud onto the counter. "Is this enough for three?"
"More than enough, sir!" The clerk's attitude shifted instantly. He scurried to the back, returning moments later with three sleek, high-end Pokétches in pink, dark blue, and orange.
"Ash! You shouldn't have," Dawn stammered, though her eyes were glued to the pink watch. "I can pay you back—"
"Consider it an investment in the team," Ash said with a nonchalant wave. He had thousands of gold coins in his system; a few nuggets were pocket change. "I picked it up on the road. No big deal."
Dawn accepted the watch, her face lighting up as she explored the interface. The Deluxe Edition was a marvel of Sinnoh engineering, featuring regional maps, a coin toss app, and a unique charging port.
"Wait, it says here it can be charged by Electric-type Pokémon!" Dawn looked at Pikachu with a playful glint in her eyes.
"Pika!" Pikachu patted his chest confidently, sparks dancing on his cheeks. He was officially the group's portable power bank.
After checking into the Jubilife Pokémon Center, the group split up. Dawn headed to the training courts to polish her appeal for tomorrow's Contest, and Brock retreated to the kitchen to experiment with Croagunk-friendly recipes.
Ash, however, headed for the video phone. He had a specific goal in mind: the final step in Scyther's evolution.
"Professor Oak, good to see you," Ash said as the screen flickered to life.
"Ash! I see you've made it to Jubilife. How is the team?"
"Strong, but ready for a change. I need to perform a trade evolution for Scyther. He's holding the Metal Coat I found."
"Understood! Trade evolutions are a fascinating mystery of resonance," Oak said, activating the transfer machine.
Ash placed Scyther's ball on the scanner. The machine hummed, dematerializing the ball into a stream of blue data that surged toward Kanto. Seconds later, the return signal hissed through the wires, and a new Poké Ball materialized on the pedestal.
Ash took the ball to the backyard, the cool evening air tensing as he released his partner. Scyther appeared, but before it could even let out a cry, it was engulfed in a blinding, white evolutionary light.
The silhouette shifted. The jagged, paper-thin wings thickened into heavy, metallic plates. The serrated scythes rounded out, transforming into massive, crushing pincers. As the light shattered, a crimson titan stood where the green mantis once was.
[Analysis: Scizor]
Type: Bug / Steel
Ability: Light Metal
Individual Values: 31 in Attack, Speed, and Defense.
Calculated Strength: Gym Leader Level (Apex)
New Moves: Bullet Punch, Iron Head, Metal Claw.
The new Scizor snapped its pincers together with a sound like a gunshot—Clack! It was 2.1 meters tall, significantly larger than the average of its species, and its armor gleamed with a cold, predatory luster.
"Welcome back," Ash said, walking up to the steel-clad warrior. "The speed might feel different now that you're heavier, but that's what Bullet Punch is for. Ready to show Sinnoh what true steel looks like?"
Scizor gave a sharp, disciplined nod. The veteran roster had just gained its most lethal blade.
