Ash stood in the backyard of the Pokémon Center, his eyes scanning the detailed readout on his Pokétch. The evolution from Scyther to Scizor had been more than a change in color; it was a total recalibration of the Pokémon's biological combat data.

[Analysis: Scizor]

Type: Bug / Steel

Ability: Light Metal (Reduces weight to 50%)

Strategic Note: The combination of Steel-type resistances and halved weight maintains high-speed maneuverability while vastly increasing defensive bulk.

Weakness: 4x Fire weakness.

Resistance Profile: Immune to Poison. Resistant to Normal, Bug, Steel, Grass, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, and Fairy.

"With Light Metal, you haven't lost an ounce of that Viridian Forest speed," Ash noted, watching the crimson armor catch the afternoon sun. "But your striking power is on a different level now. Once we master the Technician boost after Mega Evolution, you'll be able to end matches with a single pincer."

Scizor snapped its claws—a metallic clack that sounded like a gunshot—its face set in a mask of stoic determination. It was no longer a wild hunter; it was an elite assassin.

"Oh! So it finally happened!" Brock walked into the yard, his Croagunk trailing behind him with its usual rhythmic croak. "Communication evolution. He looks like he's ready to challenge the Elite Four right now."

Scizor didn't waste time on pleasantries. It immediately sought out Pidgeot, the only other Pokémon present with the speed to match its new reflexes. The two veterans moved to a more isolated corner of the ranch, sparks flying as silver wings met crimson pincers in a high-speed sparring match.

Ash watched them, but his peripheral vision caught a strange movement. Most of his team—Pikachu, Turtwig, and Starly—were focused on the battle. But Aipom was different. The long-tailed monkey kept glancing over her shoulder toward the training court where Dawn was practicing her Contest appeals. She seemed torn, her loyalty to the "battle-script" wavering whenever she saw the glitter of Piplup's Bubble Beam.

She's an adult in mind but a performer at heart, Ash thought. I can't just hand her over to Dawn if she still wants to fight by my side, but I can't ignore her passion for the stage either.

"AH! NO! This is a disaster!"

Dawn's voice cut through the air as she sprinted toward them, her face pale.

"What's the emergency?" Ash asked.

"The registration! I was so busy practicing I forgot to sign up! Today is the deadline for the Jubilife Contest!" She didn't wait for an answer, her legs already churning in place like a cartoon character before she bolted toward the North District.

"No problem, no problem!" Ash shouted after her, mimicking her catchphrase. He quickly recalled his team, leaving everyone but Pikachu and Aipom, and gestured for Brock to follow.

They reached the Jubilife Contest Hall just as the sun began to dip. The building was a masterpiece of modern architecture, shimmering with glass and steel. Inside, Nurse Joy was manning the registration desk.

Brock moved first, his "Love Drive" overriding his common sense. "My dear, radiant Joy! My name is Brock, and my heart—"

Thwip.

Croagunk's purple-glowing finger found its mark in Brock's side with surgical precision.

"I'm numb... so numb..." Brock wheezed as the frog began dragging him toward a nearby bench.

Dawn giggled nervously, then stepped up to the desk. "I'd like to register, please!"

"Of course," Joy said, sliding a form across the counter. "Just fill this out and insert your Pokédex into the slot to verify your ID."

Dawn completed the process with shaking hands, her excitement finally overriding her nerves. But as she stepped back, she saw Ash stepping up to the desk, sliding his own entry form toward Nurse Joy.

"Ash? Are you... entering the Contest too?" Dawn's eyes went wide. "Like Nando?"

"That's the plan," Ash said, patting Aipom's head. The monkey let out an enthusiastic cheer, her tail wagging. "This little one has a flair for the dramatic. I think it's time we showed Sinnoh that a Trainer can have style, too."

Dawn felt a surge of adrenaline. Having Ash as a friend was one thing, but having him as a competitor? The Jubilife Contest had just become a much more interesting script.
